Well considering there have been initiatives like SnapMap or FC Arcade, you could potentially create a sandbox environment for mods, with tools that are as well streamed.

i know is far fetched and most unlikely, but content creation don’t have to necessarily die.

Is all in the hands of devs and publishers, if they see value in enabling mods, they will find a way to allow their player base to play with tools.

I’m pretty sure no one ever expected modding tools to end up on console, but then you got stuff like Halo and Far Cry… ending up in games that are content creation tools really.

I’ve always been a big Remedy fan, but this and Quantum Break make me feel like they’ve leaped forward in some departments, and others are still at Max Payne 1 level.

Animations still look clunky to me.

Guess I can’t comment until I try it, but looks like to be more exploration oriented than action FPS. I can see why it can be annoying in bigger spaces, when we are now accustomed to explore with all means to make travelling quick (parachutes and wingsuits)

Doesn’t sound like a game like this needed an exclusivity deal to be profitable. It ticks all the boxes hardcore FPS players want (imo).

I imagine that if you want to achieve a heavy styled look you should use colour correction and not crazy lighting. That kind of stuff should be used for spots on the map

As things are, the only way to ensure some future proof, would be supporting companies like GOG that have made their mission to maintain access and playability of old games.

Also a devil’s advocate point is this: both Sony and MS have gone to great lengths in the last generation to provide compatibility with old games. Considering that the value of a platform/service is in great part linked to the offering, these companies have all the interest in maintaining their games long after their main “profitability lifetime”.

I also wonder for independent/privately own developers what entitlement they have to eventually make their games available in case their publisher shuts down the servers.

Gravedigging the topic because it looks like #gowokegobroke strikes again and Anita is finally out of money. I hope all this celebrating doesn't jinx it, but hopefully her voice and her overall presence will soon just be a fart in the distant past.

Looking after a newborn doesn’t let you do much more than watch lot of TV…

Well at least I’m caught up with Better Call Saul, Season 4 was again great and I kinda feel this is the best ongoing show on TV.

I adore the camera work, I think it really helps to lean in with the characters feelings. They also do this very basic tricks of framing details that can bring you back one-two seasons, for example one of the last episodes they use the rule of thirds to frame a litter bin Jimmy kicked in previous seasons: the bin is still dinked and you immediately remember of that old scene. Brilliant ??

If you are not watching this you should, especially after watching Breaking Bad, because watching the downfall you know these characters face is such a neat narration device. When the TV show was announced this concept was my biggest concern, it’s actually its strength.

On 6/21/2019 at 2:11 AM, FMPONE said: Re-Watched all of Cowboy Bebop and the movie. The very beginning of the series is the best (first 4-5 eps) and the movie is OK. There were surprisingly few outright cringey scenes for an anime. However there were some really bad episodes (the evil clown assassin one is trash). Overall a pretty enjoyable series that held up quite well. The animation is largely super solid. They hyper-sexualized Faye quittttte a bit, but I guess it was relatively restrained by anime standards. The episode where she remembers her past is really quite touching and profound, it’s genuinely moving. The music was lively and fun.

Not holding out too much hope for the Netflix series, but it’s the kind of show I could easily see doing very well in live action. If they could pull it off that would be really awesome.

Biggest complaint about the show is just how short the episodes are and how some of them don’t end up making much sense as a result. If they had gone for 1 hour eps instead of 30 minutes everything would have worked soooo much better IMO, so that’s one opportunity for Netflix.

Oh yasss! I mean to go back to this at some point… I watched some eps when was airing in Italy; watched the movie, and watched one-two eps when was put on Netflix… just following along in original language and subs was a bit too much effort at that time (was in my old job).

I LOVE the ship design and the style generally. Thanks for the reminder! ?

@FMPONE have you also watched Trigun? Is more light hearted but I watched a good chunk of it.

One of my fave anime is Macross/Robotech, I watched a good chunk of the English dub and is a bit cringy but again, plane design too cool to care. My anime experts friends told me the English version has been ruined by cuts and should find the original… anyway the theme was so great!

Got it for PC or Switch @[HP]?

I wanted to try it when I was at the EGX, but the computer I was in line for crashed and nobody came round to fix it, all the other stations I had to queue up again.

It is impressive, if this could look like the animated trailer they’ve made for the release would be incredible.

The review I’ve seen last night was talking about becoming a bit repetitive an unimaginative after a bit, with the first chapter being the more solid one.

Nothing of interest for me, but is interesting to see that Source 2 is also supporting mobile platforms!

The hope they might still release Source 2 to devs is still there, maybe after they release these games?

    ~

@FMPONE agree with you but isn’t it a catch-22? To show story you have to have mechanics implemented… and gameplay and maps is really what will display progress to the community the quickest.

I haven’t read Epistle 3 yet(!) and is not that immediate to translate script to game narration… but that seems a solid base to start from, and these people look like they can be trusted. Sure won’t be like a Valve product, ever :(
