Last night I watched Contraband. Maybe it's my low expectations talking, but I really enjoyed it: perfect pacing for this kind of movie.

Trivia: the location where the last exchange takes place, is the same where Statham docks his boat in The Mechanic... and that movie also had Ben Foster in it

to be honest it all sort of feels like they did it on purpose to make you relive the buggy, poorly-presented shitfest that was the original tomb raider series.

It was that bad? I played the original I & II only (on the PC) and I don't have this kind of negative memories; if i recall correctly Lara jumped after taking two steps after pushing the button, that could have been annoying to most of people.

Apart from the wrap around his face I don't think they've strayed far from how Garret looks, he's always been a bit of a cross between a ninja & a gimp, works for me

It's not that I "complain" about, it is the feeling that it's not stylized enough to stand out. Thrik description says it perfectly: "hooded dude", not "Garrett".

Same goes for the environment, I know the game has been so long in development, but coming out after Dishonored, I cannot shake the feeling the art direction is generic.

I'm really curious to see some gameplay, haven't played the whole saga so, I'm waiting for this.

Right now I am not convinced too by the character design, to me it looks too much as Scorpion meets Ryu Hayabusa. The bow also seems a bit too modern in its design, doesn't it?

For starter, congrats on building such a tool, i've been watching the tutorial/demos last night and today.

About the contest i'm curious: what has actually to be produced? A rolling demo, a navigable map, just a scene render (so screenshots are the thing to be evaluated).

i guess everybody knew this when the story of the 5 million copies came out, but this is unfortunate:

Oh yeah, i noticed that too. Well, I noticed he calls you when you die and when you are just starting a new game session, so actually i thought it was quite good because reminds the player what he has to do next... yes, it's a bit invasive but i'm quite good at ignoring him but talking design, i wouldn't declare it a failure, the system could benefit some refinements (eg.: he doesn't calls if he has done that already in a certain time-span).

I turned my sound of on multiple occasions because the same guy from the same mission with the same story kept calling every fucking time I did something else in between. Drove me nuts.

The guy you rescue in the minefield? Because I just did that after lunch: "I'm over here. I'm over here. I'm over here"

Maybe add some colored lights in a couple of areas?

just finished this game. it was a really great game, not as good as half life but i believe the graphics was amazing for its time (2000.

Yeah, SoF was great, I still have good memories... the localised damage was a blast (and was never replicated )

So I finished Far Cry 3. [...] memorable characters, great music [...] after 31 hours of play, I'm still sad it ended.

I've installed it thursday on my Xbox and racked up 16hrs in 4 sessions of play... and I've only just completed the first CIA agent mission. (I'm assuming there's still a long way to go.)

I agree with all the things you wrote, except I had to turn off the music because for the first time in my life I see a game that has not separate volumes for music and effects [Blocked Image: http://multiplayer.it/forum/images/faccine/face4.gif]

At the point I am right now in the story, can't say much about characters, I think Vaas had(?) the potential to be "character of the year" but a sandbox gameplay hurts narration and the performance gets lost.

Oh, and the notification pop-ups have driven me crazy for too many hours, really too intrusive, everything you do/find pops up something. Annoying to say the least.

I'd be tempted to get it immediately, with the favorable change €-£, getting it from Amazon UK it's a really nice discount on the Italian price. But I've got other stuff piled up and I don't buy games higher than 25€ on purpose (there are very few exceptions).

Guess Beck said it best; this new strategy is very shrewd.

I think this is mostly irrelevant to us, we are grown ups and got less time to play etc., but for the kids waiting for the next COD, to know they'll get an additional weapon on the get go, I think is really something meaningful.

This can work, think about the Potato Sack initiative a couple years ago...
