I love DOD, much more than CS; the problem there is not the engine but the fact that they messed a bit too much with the formula, changing important gameplay parameters we had all mastered.
I don't care about a port, I would like a proper successor.

They did the same when the original Source came out remember? They were saying they were testing tech with older games like CS1.6 and HL… so that wouldn't be totally crazy, even if this time they turned quite upside down the building paradigm.

I think they are just acting like so, and they fooled everybody. They are underselling the competition: it works for one/a few companies in different businesses.
And by the way they really have two businesses going on at the same time, one boosts the other and vice-versa so I don't see them as a term of comparison.
As I remember, they weren't doing great at all before the Wii, they hit it big then and their stash comes from making a dirty cheap console… that has been taking dust in most households as the novelty wear off.
They have been the only selling well their own titles, and not simply because they were great games for the platform. I've tried some Ubi games and they are as good party titles as Nintendo's, but they don't come bundled with the console. Correct if I'm wrong in thinking that game sales account for the bundles.
Another reason you cannot compare them is that they are basically the sole providers for their own platform. Ubisoft and Activision, or EA, don't have means to differentiate, they cannot boost their own sales juggling two businesses: of course they milk the hell out of titles! And frankly, I think stuff like COD has quality, I might not like it, but much more people do so…
I dunno the innards of business, but I guess that if they have to put out a title per year, that's necessary for their sustainability, whether Nintendo can sits on its ass after putting out a Mario game because of its sales, the indirect sales of hardware it causes, and the royalties from other companies.
Like Valve not putting out shit for years because of Steam. Or Blizzard because of WoW.
id Software tried to make quality games, draining their stash, and look how it worked out for them. I think companies see that as a cautionary tale.

Amazon Prime is good! Don't understand why there are so many titles "leaving" the service :-/ are these streaming services cutting on their archives for some particular reason other than contracts and legalities? Because I don't understand why media from the same company (like WB) can be treated differently depending on the title.

I am not completely against for-pay dlcs, afterall you have to build them. It's just finding the correct equilibrium between offer and cost and not being too cheeky. I hate those dlcs involving just weapons for eg.

Frankly when i read Charlize was on board, months ago, I was disappointed cos I'm not a big fan and she seems too delicate for such a dirty role.
Agreed that the 3rd movie was the most ridiculous, but also the one with the best scenography: it was what became the reference for every "wasteland" setting in whatever media.
Rage seems the depiction of it (visually the best wasteland yet IMO), and when I saw the trailer last night I thought "this is Rage on film".
Disappointed Hardy is hardly (pun not intended) shown, I started to think if it's a Mad Max movie about his female friends :-|
Also why killing an innocent lizard, Mad Max wasn't a disturbed psycho, like he seems to be here.
You see this stuff and you so hardly want to play it. My problem now is that I always planned to get the PS3 at the end of cycle and play the exclusivities, like all the naughty dog games and a couple of others.
Now I don't plan at all to get a PS4… and I have barely time to play stuff I have in the pipeline
