Aside from portability, what are your requirements? My view on portability is that anything is portable if you try hard enough. You need more criteria to be clear on what you're buying.

Thanks for the contribution.I must haven't been clear, I am of your same opinion. When I said "portable" I mean "transportable".

    I need a workstation.

I was considering assembling a mini-case PC, packing as much power as I could fit, and buy a 24-27".

Now I have a girlfriend so regularly I move from my very tiny room where I live (I live-in where I work) to her small one-room studio for a couple of days. Commute is 2-2.5hrs going through London, so I don't mind transporting anything that can fit in my trolley… I actually considered buying the mini-PC anyway and just attach it to my gf's small TV when I'm there.

Might be too hassly tho after the first couple of trips.

I was planning to spend 900-1100£.

I don't expect being able to find in a few months a game industry job thanks to the work I'll do on the computer, but I am struggling anyway thinking I could save a little bit hoping in being able to replace the machine quickly (when moving someplace else after finding a different job).

Same here, i mean i have to start again to look at machines.

I'm oriented toward a 17" and nothing else because I don't have a desktop and necessity is forcing me to decide toward the portable solution

I did find a couple of German vendors making gaming machines, I was almost decided when I read couple reviews saying how noisy one model was, how not solid the other felt…

Jackophant wrote somewhere else he would have some hints for companies to consider.

Woke up for game 3, surprised NiP is doing so well, thought they would only get past groups. So many good plays by them.

After winning the last tournament, weren't the favourite?Just asking cos I don't know anything about pro teams and stuff.

Speaking of which, why one of the rules forbids to bind crouch to mouse wheel? I actually never even thought of doing that… also why no scripts, (for buying I assume), thought that was the core of being pro

Abs is all diet. Don't eat shit. Examine your caloric intake and macros.

Ye thought so. How do you keep track of calories? Never done such thing. I know there are apps but always been too lazy to try.Macros?

Also up to July I was also doing much more work on my own at the workplace, we are most staffed and I got a promotion so I'm doing a quite less now.

I wonder if it's possible to write an algorithm that highlights all walkable/standable areas because the problem with this spot is that you can basically get 6 foot the ground without a boost...

I remember reading that for rage id software had a tool like that, at least highlighting all the wolkable surfaces.Edit: actually they sorta have it already: the one that creates the navmesh for the bots.

Well, not really the place to post bug reports…

A couple top players got VAC bans. That's all we know about their specific cases.

But there has been tremendous volumes written about the hacks they were supposedly using, which are (apparently) virtually impossible to detect even on LAN. So the only way to prevent people from cheating, even on LAN, is to completely lock down the LAN environment.

What kind of hacks are these, why can't they be detected in a controlled environment like a LAN? My convincement was that the computers of these tournaments were provided by the organisation/sponsors and players just log in their account to play the games, eventually plugging in mouse&keyboard, but that would be it.

    Quote from Puddy

Fnatic are a bunch of "expletives ad infinitum". They sit on an exploit for 2 months and don't say shit so they can get a cheap win in the next major. Imagine if this was pulled out during the finals.

Seriously, gtfo you little shits. LDLC better get a rematch.

Hate this behaviours, I mean in general not being fair players.I don't understand why tournament rules don't explicitly forbid the use of these glitches, is there not a referee that can say right there "that is not allowed"?

That being said, a good team after being nailed for two rounds should change strategy (unless that area give coverage for all routes – but that'd be clearly out of bounds).

This is a movie about space exploration and transcendence, the dying earth is just an excuse for the story

I know, I'm not saying the movie should address that, I'd be happy to read a short story or see a short about it, just for added curiosity

    Quote

Just like 2001 and other Nolan movies, you probably have to watch it more than once and read shit on the internet to fully understand all the small intricacies.

Ye first I'll read rest of the topic and I'll see if you are pointing at anything in particular.First of all I'll definitely watch the documentary that was posted few posts above.

Friend of mine said he read/heard about the entanglement, so "I can see science and feelings intertwine"… I haven't read any assay and being a convinced atheist I can't accept this phenomena until doing so, and anyway I'm not sure you need to give in such beliefs to appreciate the movie, I hope there can be a (pseudo)scientific explanation, otherwise it's just as fantastic as LOTR.

    Quote

The problem with doing science-driven movies is that people will be much more critical of the logic behind them. This in part was the reason why I couldn't enjoy Gravity, the errors in that one were too big for me to ignore them.

I think that you can argue that Interstellar is a movie for the nerds, while Gravity for the masses; so to the ignorant like me was mere fun, you might think that something it's a bit off but you just give in and follow the quite tense rhythm of narration.Interesting that quite comes from Blomkamp, since he has done science-action movies.

I've been very lazy lately, haven't made good use of my membership at all.

Anyway, need a good diet for getting my abs out, any suggestion?

I'm a glutton so I know I must cut on cakes and the likes, but then what?

You'll probably laugh, but I don't think I need targeted exercises, till July you could almost see my abs, then I let myself go. Actually I think they would display too much if I'd exercise much, the top ones, those near the stern, protrude a bit from the ribcage line… so because of this I think I'd look even worse if I bulk them up, it'll look like I've a swollen belly.

I think I should do loads of cardio, but I had to stop running because a heel pain and I have a problem on my left knee for which doctor told me I should stop jogging at all couple years ago. Trainer at gym said that rowing machine could also worsen my heel problem so I'm kinda lost. Right now when I go I do 20-30 min of cycling, but that's not good for knee as well (I think).

    Suggestions?

Maybe you already do improvised meetups, but if we started meeting in local groups, and let the forum know publicly, think it would be easier to organise a bigger event, I see why it would be difficult to decide for a loner to fly in a foreign country just to meet people he has never seen. You know, if you have a local group is also easier to motivate each other to travel.

what's all about this dreamhack and top players cheating? I'm kinda confused. I only read the posts here, couple comments on the reddit threads you linked but they are not very explicative. Before reading the wiki I thought Dreamhack was a cheating event

So some top player has been recently banned during some event or in a very public way?

I'm not understanding the posts asking valve to explain their actions.

Also, how's people cheating nowadays? Thought that steam/the game was running checks on the files installed to see if they've been tempered with. Do cheats now run externally? Can't steam be a spyware and check you are not running any of that?

    Quote from Puddy

Can't pro players enter some sort of contract where they pay shit ton of penalties if they are caught or something? :/

I think that at the state we are in, single tournaments could do that, but how can a league enforce that (without having an annual entry fee)?Anyway I'd just say ban every account they ever create to play the game they cheated.

I think it's basically an extremely moddable game that will ship with a few different modes developed by the devs, but the key part of it will be allowing players to make their own games using the in-game equivalent of something like Unreal's blueprints.

    Sounds scarily UT4 territory
