Managed to get past the broken point, i did an integrity check and Uplay found corrupted files.

Guess that it's not a checkpoint cos I got to the Tower Bell as the objective requires, but since I was just testing if the game was working and I hadn't the time to watch cutscenes, I hit "SAVE & Quit" before entering. Then I loaded the game again just to make sure… and the fucker started again from the beginning!

It's maybe a bit to brighter. Though, it's a preview light building, 'cause even medium quality was taking ssoooo much time.

I'll add some particules on the foreground.

I like the contrast between the old pyramids and the scifi city, but I feel like it would be cool to have a scifi texture on the pyramids too. What do you think ?

    Display More

Very nice, although skyline is a bit repetetive... i'd see well one piramid to be much larger, or/and a couple of skyscrapers.

Also, with this camera position I think you are loosing a bit the effect you could achieve to show the scale of the view: what about a slightly larger fov, and a camera positioned a bit higher, like from a balcony overlooking this large platform. Or to make the buildings look tall maybe lower the point of view in respect of the horizon.

Graphics is fucking awesome, can't believe it runs on very high on a laptop. Feeling is the same of FC3, no complains.

Problem: the game consistently crashes at the first checkpoint after the real game starts after the escape scene and killing the first set of guards up to the set of huts by the waterfalls, basically when Pagan phones in to apologize for the cooking. Two out of two Four out of four. I lowered a tad the graphics the third time, and just now tried to Run As Administrator.

Also can't believe checkpoints are so spread out, if I want to do things stealth it takes quite a while just that first section!

I'm no artist, but I like watching Feng Zu's videos on the FZD youtube channel.

Think you need to do perspective exercises first. One simple thing you could do is take some pictures and draw over the horizon and perspective lines to visualize what your brain process in background.

Proper paintovers might help, you should be able to achieve good results that make you feel better easily while you gain expertise in handling the tablet (I used one years ago for a while and couldn't get used to it, but was also the smallest size possible so was good just for photo-retouching).

Another staple of Feng is that he basically uses only a couple of standard bruhes. Custom brushes are not the way to good art, I think they can help save some time when you know the fundamentals.

I like the last piece, quite suggestive! Also first wooden crate seems alright to me.

Are you working with reference? the crate doesn't look like one, the problem is not the flatness but the weird gradient inside... looks more like a cage of some sort.

I would advise to follow some tutorial, I remember reading some posted around here or linked in some topic. Think Kikette was involved but can't find anything right now.

Edit: found out it works differently from the indications I've been given, found the UPlay software and downloading now.

Still I would like to now if I need to keep a backup of the game or it works just like steam.

How the hell do I download the game??

Just redeemed my digital copy, completed the "purchase" and got a message I can download after looking up the order. I do that and there's no download button like the help pages say it should.

Let's not talk about the fact that the download expires in 30 days!

Anyone has gotten the game through nVidia as well?

Congrats Taylor! You're a fucking machine

I love the concept of the latest game, the art as well is perfect. Seems the kind of game that would be fun to have on console and portable devices.

Having just gotten the computer haven't thought about GGJ, but it's unlikely anyway I can make it, dunno when I'll be off in the first weeks of new year really

Last night I test drived Alien Rage and played a good chunk of Mirror's Edge.

The former is your average "clone" shooter, like we used to say back in the days of Quake and Unreal. I remember buying it thinking that it had good graphics and seemed solid from the videos. Graphics is a great deal of noisy grey sameness I must say, reminds me a lot of Prey: confusing environment with a few eyecatching sparkling setpieces... but at least shooting it's ok, weapons handling feels alright and bullets behave a bit differently than usual shooters (they fly slower). Like Prey and Q4 there's basically no Z-axis play tho.

Liking Mirror's Edge a lot, one of those games that really makes you want to replay to get everything right and smooth, there's quite a satisfaction in getting a section properly... although I must say that whether in the first few chapters it seemed to have an overload of "over here!" red props, further down navigation gets confusing sometimes.

Spent the last hour before turning the computer off on the first few time attack maps.

I must also redeem Far Cry 4 that I get thanks to nVidia.

    Quote from Grinwhrl

The 3rd Hobbit film ;/, and I don't recommend it. It ruined the the whole thing for me. No focus, everything was Convenient, no urgency in the movie at all.

Just like the other movies wanna talk about the barrel scene? Statue of gold? Goblins caves? What wasn't convenient and unsurprising in these movies, even by people who didn't read the book.~

Just watched this tho, and I must say I'm making peace with Gandalf and the deliberateness of his actions

    http://youtu.be/YxgsxaFWWHQ

Which just confirms what I did say after not liking Donnie Darko: some movies require background knowledge and since you can't assume people to have it, you have to find a way to explain the audience some basics (or the movie can't be defined "good").

I'm finding waaay more interesting this video than the whole new trilogy: wouldn't be much more interesting depicting the whole creation of Middle Earth, with the conflict of the fallen angel and everything, be more interesting than the Hobbit? Seems there's shitload of material for a good movie…
