I have some keys to give out as well, in the meantime could I please have Afterfall Insanity, or Sniper in case that it's gone.

  • what was your favourite / most inspiring map

I only started Gunman, then for some reason I couldn't pick it up to finish it; it was a bit boring when I was playing it. I wanted to play it with the move to Steam, but I remember it wasn't accepting the serial at the time.

    ~

In terms of multiplayer maps there are loads that I played hours and hours, online or against bots, lots have been already mentioned and in terms of teaching something I struggle cos I actually have never distributed anything so...

cs_italy: I would say has the most iconic spawn, with the choice you have it's great player direction.

Blastpit: although Half-Life is a goldmine and has set so may standards for the modern shooters, especially with the now very much imitated non-violent interactive introduction, Blastpit is probably the summa of everything's singleplayer. It basically encapsulates a three-acts narration in its own and offers everything spanning from exploration to the most heart-racing sequence, shooting, frantic platforming and "wow" moments.

I wouldn't know what to pick for Day Of Defeat, I think all official maps in the retail version rate great to awesome.

Haven't played Q3 or UT enough to be able to name a perfect example of good DM flow; for the latter I was just in love with the already mentioned Morpheus

I haven't modded it yet, but is not like you see the start screen a lot, when your main sw is all linked through the taskbar.

Have to say I actually like the Metro style quite a lot, I like the live tiles… I cant wrap my head around the fact that MS thought the system was ok like that: 2hrs of user testing would be enough to understand that you can't have a one-size-fits-all. The New Start would be fine if it was just a launcher, leaving you the taskbar there. And whattahell, how come that on windows phone you can change background and have transparent tiles, while on a PC you can't, even if 8.1 has been basically advertised as a major release.

And let's not talk about the fact that Metro is sandboxed away, that you can run 2 different skype at the same time -_-

Awesome Warby! I was just recently thinking back at Generals when I was rounding up my games and I think I have Red Alert 3 because of the EA Humble Bundle. Now I have a reason to not give that key away!

Prisoners: very very good drama about the disappearance of two girls. After End Of Watch and this I am really appreciating Gyllenhaal.

Hey guys, I wanted to stress the machine more, but since the discussion is ongoing I can give a first impressions.

When I opened it the first day I had the impression keybord was a bit lousy and that construction leaves something to desire in a few details, in particular i've noticed on the front bezel, where palmrest and chassis meet, there's a minimal gap (you can see some light from the from status leds), which annoyed me because if you spend so much...

But I used it a few days and palmrest is solid* and keyboard is not bad at all for typing.

What I'm most impressed is the cooling department: I've played Far Cry 4 maxed out and the machine is absolutely cool to the touch, I think the GPU/CPU are located to the right where the unuseful numpad is cos it's the only area where you can feel to be tiepid. Good news is that it's also not noisy at all! I will have to pay more attention but first impression is that fans don't go crazy like on my old Macbook trying to digest Youtube even when gaming, definitely not audible on top of the speakers/headphones (and I've only used the iPhone earbuds); when idle/browsing is very silent.

A small complaint might be that keyboard illumination has just 3 levels of brightness and is not as nicely distributed like on Macbooks, but the WASD keys have a transparent bevel so they are easier to find in the dark.

The other complaint would be the audio department: it's advertised as some stereo cool technology while it has only one speaker (grill) so you will notice that, but on the other hand there's some software enhancement when you connect an external system, a window pops up asking what you are connecting, and the 2+1 JBL speakers I have definitely have a more rich sound that i've experienced until now!

*although would be nice if all laptops had moved to the "unibody" design instea of having an outer shell that cointains everything

PS: you are probably used to this by now, but it's fucking fast! Win 8 + SSD, and it boots in what feels like 3 seconds. It's almost as waking up a modern tablet from sleep. Hope performance don't drop.

I am tempted to buy an SSD since the amazing sale on Amazon (Samsung EVO 840 are almost 50% off) but I think this machine mounts a PCIE SSD, which I'm afraid I can't move to the old Macbook to give it some new life.

I've been playing this game for like 5h now and I don't have the nerves to play more than 1h. It's so friggin scary! :<

I'd double the GOTY contender, Sprony.

I was like that in both D3 and Deas Space. First was more the tiredness from too much dark, second I could play up to two hours I think before feeling stressed, but still demanding games and the reason why I still haven't finished them. Dead Space especially I was loving it, just I never had time to sit for those kind of sessions.Really want to put my hands on Alien, but first I still need to watch the first movie (oddly the only one I haven't seen), then I have such a back catalog that I might as well wait for the price to come down a bit.

We landed shortly ago back from Cologne: 6 fucking hours wait there. Plane delayed because of fog in Gatwick.

When we finally were on the plane, and waited for an hour, passengers had to get down the plane and look for their own baggage, which was unloaded because crew couldn't find a baggage checked in, but without respective passenger on board -_- (so for flight safety –aka bombs– they had to find it or make sure wasn't on board)

  • Best website host?

    • blackdog
    • January 3, 2015 at 9:05 PM

Paul: Wordpress is a blog. You can either register a domain and use it through Wordpress.com so you don't have hosting hassle, or install it in you own space (and test in local).

Dreamhost and I think all other sites, have one-button installs which make it easy, you don't have to worry about updates cos they update themselves if I remember correctly.

It has been modded and developed toward a CMS so shitloads of small businesses use it with plugins (free and commercial) but it's still a blog.

MaK: I have had dreamhost for several years and I think it's a very good host. Easy to manage domains and space.

It's a powerful hosting, I got it through a 90% discount offer but then the normal price kicked in and I was basically using it only for remote-linking after the first 2-3 years in which I was doing proper webdev with database and everything, so I terminated and switched to ovh (French company).

This one is good as well but I had problems in porting my very basic basic php portfolio pages (they were basic just including other pages) so I've let it die and I'm gonna look for another solution for my portfolio.

Escape rooms are good! We were able to book the experience of finding a piece of art and escape was a bonus since we were in two.

Made it to find the object just about when the timer expired.

We got a few too many hints from the game master for my taste, but have to admit the game was well managed since we made it just about.

    I would definitely recommend

Sunday we'll do the glow-in-the-dark minigolf

Got Death Rally yday cos it never got the extra sale.

Don't need anything on sale now, only tempted of getting FC3 also for PC (played on XBox) but don't make much sense, haven't played the co-op and dunno if I'll manage now anyway…

I replayed quickly and done the tower scene, so "Prologue" is done, saw the saving icon appear, I haven't had the chance to boot up again and see if it saved cos my gf arrived.

I run the game as administrator, as I did read something about that the other night when I had the crashes. It'd be very annoying if I need to right click all the time I want to play.
