    Where are the cubemaps..?

Don't worry, the floor is not real time reflective and it should work on all graphical settings.

There are two ways to achieve this effect - Have a texture with cubemaps,

have a texture with water properties.

Huge thanks to Skybex I figured I could use the same effect as on cs_workout, basically the basic geometry you wan't to reflect is replicated upside down and the floor is made transparent. It looks very cool if you do it right, and I believe a lot of maps should use this method in the future

Good ol' Goldsrc I guess that if it looks good is alright, it's good and another tool to use; but ideally I would leave that to materials… any computer now should be able to handle those tfuture

    Which they don't anymore.

Anyway, then there is no reason to buy at day one if you have a reason to buy d1 that preorder makes sense, more sense than waiting for the game to be out. Unless you wait a few months then, or buy used (which I decided not to long time ago)

Was reading it at the same time you posted, friend linked that to me.

Don't like it, everything is under the assumption he's in bad faith, while he's just a developer doing his work. Other people have fucking spent it all and gone out of business!

But also, this is exemplary of why I don't support kick starter.

Although, people should pull their head out of their assess, the name of the initiative already explains this is a system to START a project would not get funded on traditional channels.

Kick starters have been using the tool improperly, presenting their ideas as doable on certain budgets, and backers haven't understood the real model of this.

Playing this really made me wanna pick up The Wolf Among Us

Wolf Among Us is amazing, I played only the first free chapter, but I was really impressed. Got the full season on Steam Sale, just waiting to buy a gamepad to play that and other action games.

I thought we were past the warning flag, and that everyone already says it is indeed unsustainable. That's why the preorders with all the ridiculous bonuses.

I'm behind the quality over quantity, but I'm never gonna pay full AAA price for the average shooter. The only preorders I've done in recent years were those coming cheaper than average anyway (Max Payne 3 and Alan Wake).

For a moment during the trailer I felt this was a bit better than the other, but nah, it looks just as bad.

I went in my archives and found a long quote from Carmack. Hope you'll like it:

    Quote

    To elaborate a bit:

Probably everyone reading this has done some "game design" while talking with friends. In an evening, you can lay out the basic character of a game -- what the player does, what the environments are like, what the obstacles are, what the tools in the game are like, what the plot is, what the style of the game is, and a few unique hooks for the game.

There is not a hell of a lot of difference between what the best designer in the world produces, and what a quite a few reasonably clued in players would produce at this point. This is the "abstract creativity" aspect. This part just isn't all that valuable. Not worthless, but it isn't the thing to wrap a company around.

The real value in design is the give and take during implementation and testing. It isn't the couple dozen decisions made at the start, it is the thousands of little decisions made as the product is being brought to life, and constantly modified as things evolve around it. If you took two game designs, one good and one bad, and gave them to two development teams, one good and one bad, the good dev team could make a good, fun product out of a bad design, but the bad dev team could ruin the most clever design. The focus should be on the development process, not the (initial) design.

The games with 500 page design documents before any implementation are also kidding themselves, because you can't make all the detail decisions without actually experiencing a lot of the interactions.

Putting creativity on a pedestal can also be an excuse for laziness. There is a lot of cultural belief that creativity comes from inspiration, and can't be rushed. Not true. Inspiration is just your subconscious putting things together, and that can be made into an active process with a little introspection.

Focused, hard work is the real key to success. Keep your eyes on the goal, and just keep taking the next step towards completing it. If you aren't sure which way to do something, do it both ways and see which works better.

I can imagine, still why don't just simplify and copy BF and have ammo replenish when you approach a crate stack? Or by pressing a [use] button like every other game available and keep the modify screen to it's core funtion?

Maybe you just not in the mood for that kind of show atm.

Yes, it's a game for hardcores, but I think a solution to improve can be found.

Most of the problem is that is not a contextual menu of sorts, behaving a bit differently depending if you are in front of a replenish point or not

Game crashes at times and i'm only in the training.

Plus found a bug there, at the first re-supply removed all my gear, proceeded, door closes and you have no pistol to continue, and no way to get one.

I think the modify screen is not so intuitive.
