Has anyone heard of Far Cry 3 at -125% on Steam? lol
Unfortunately on the website is at -75% ![]()
First episode of Daredevil was solid but definitely not starting with a boom.
I'll see where it goes
A new Origin Humble Bundle is live, with a selection of games from EA
Most of them also available for Steam so pretty sweet.
I'm gonna get it for Dead Space 2 alone for sure. And there's Generals as well (pity only Origin, but that's not on Steam anyway
). Also never played the Breakthrough campaign of MOH at the time.
Think I'll just wait to see what else they'll add, if it's worth paying more than average.
Thanks for the great post Through, I was a bit town off by the way Jacko had put it (no offence
) cos I know all the oled thing being interested in phones, and I remember the benefits of led back-lit when they came out… thought there was something new in between I had missed (which I'd say is the quantum dot).
Luckily I don't need it at all, if would be just to spoil myself. Saving money on there would make it easier to add a box (although I forgot I still have an X360 that could do the job, plus I still have several game to complete there).
Last thing, opinions on the curved display? My idea was that if I was going to buy American would have been for that
I'm tempted of buying a big screen as well now that I'm almost sure to move in the biggest room available in my centre (sitting room + bedroom for work accommodation is sweet!).
I'm not too up to date, just checking a few hands on here and there; 4k is becoming standard but there's no content other than some YouTube enthusiasts really. And PC games.
And they're already talking 5k(?)!!
So personally I wouldn't go there, but I'm quite tempted of buying a curved display TV if any, so from the quick look I've had I think they only come in 4k. Also they should be real LED like Jacko was talking about(?).
What about OLEDs? (I don't think that curved display are necessarily OLEDs)
In terms of brands, isn't Samsung supposed to be among the best?
And finally for "Smart TVs", well isn't that just standard now above a certain price range?
They're definitely not comparable to set top boxes in terms of speed, but my sister and husband got an LG about a year and a half ago and it does its job. It's not snappy in the menus, but once you are in Netflix it's fine. And YouTube you just beam from the phone.
I definitely prefer to have that out of the box instead of then adding up for a Fire TV (although I am really satisfied by the one I bought my gf) or Apple TV or similar.
Funny someone linked this after you told me about it Skybex, haven't even had to search ![]()
Thanks for the share!
Very spoilerous new trailer, but I like the idea. I was going to watch the movie only when it's free anyway
In my head this afternoon

Quote from SpronyvanJohnsonSpend over 50 hours in the game over the course of 3 months. Still not finished it. It couldn't understand why really but this sums it up rather nicely:

Wow, was that recorded by you??
I've played it many hours, dunno how many without checking, but I bet around 30 and only escaped the prison.
Haven't played since first week of February :-/
Quote from 2d-chrisit's just a metric, you get used to swapping about after so long doing it everyday, I for one actually like using real world units because that's what we used in Cryengine, the key is environment scale, not making a specific wall X units tall, nobody really uses an arbitrary measurement based on a texture size like the old days.
Oh yes, I'm sure; I remember that at the time I used to think that using metrics would have been easier "so you can easily copy this place cos you can eyeball measures easily!" XD but I wasn't much into learning new ways when I was 17-18. I'm sure I can cope, sometime soon I'll play a bit with the UE editor.
Quote from 2d-chrisblackdog, yeah, we are releasing themed tiling sets of assets and deco props over time, right now we have released the Outpost23 set, which is clean industrial, I think that set would work for this level. The artists build the assets, but there's no reason why a level designer can't add the assets into the maps, and light it etc.
Good to know about the sets, although somewhat expected (I'm expecting there are going to be some "official" maps, if not maybe in a broader sense.
I wasn't maybe really asking a question, what I mean that seems quite impossible for a one man team to do a complete map at this point, unless the designer is also an artist (since there are no default sets yet available).
How do you find working with the metric system btw? I remember in the early days trying to use MaxEd was making me very confused (although it should be even more straightforward), and later on when I was doing some VRML in uni... what was confusing me was more the use and especially creation of textures, cos I never knew the scale between texture pixels and units size (read: never easy as Hammer: 256u = 256px = texture looks good VS 1m = XXXpx = texture looks stretched as hell)
Arkham Knight is going digital only! ![]()

You may have heard that Warner Bros, the publisher of the title "Batman: Arkham Knight" decided to release this game in digital only format.

Quote from jackophantTL;DR - University drop out, lucky to have a job where he can build skills for future jobs is crying because the company he works for won't let him help them with simple, efficient solutions to which would keep his maintenance work load down AND look much better on a CV for himself..
I say keep trying and start looking at other jobs! I have been struggling for one year and now something is moving. Don't be afraid to speak your mind.In the interview I got the promotion, I even said "I don't think my role should exist, my aim is to get people I might be supervising on a mindset were they'll be proud of what they do, without the need of anyone looking over their shoulder".
For the redundant thing, ignore them. Friend of mine was a programmer in an insurance company, he was managed by a person less skilled than him that tried to keep him from doing interesting things. He left while in Italy we were in full recession and everybody would say "you're crazy" when he was saying "I was not working enough". Because he has skills he got a new job shortly after.
Another way to look at it is do what you are required to, just the minimum, go home and work on yourself, things you like so that you can apply for other jobs.
Looks fun to play!
I'm definitely gonna try put something together sometime soon, one thing that scares me for working in these modern engines is how much of the original bush work is gonna be replaced by props? I have read some guides and postmortems for UE3 and with all that "tilable sets" buzz basically everything was replaced by the artist. That makes it impossible for one person to complete a project, unless they are very skilled in modelling as well ![]()
Quote from PogoPWell, I can't stand MGS but I loved Deus Ex: HR. I'd recommend giving it a go, you'll be able to get it dirt cheap now.
Yeah I already got it at least 1 year ago in a Steam Sale, along the DLCs ![]()
Problem is having the time to play, first I feel the need of something brainwashy that I can pick up for half hour, secondly I have started already many games without getting through much. Like I played a lot of FC4 in jan-feb and haven't touched since I escaped the prison on the cliff.
