I'm excited in excited at the chance to easily play this milestone I've missed… but tbh I was expecting more in terms of graphics.

I create a dedicated folder for each map I work on. It contains subfolders like Pakrat, Overviews, Screenshots, References (consists of subfolders too), etc. Basically anything that is related/needed for the map, so it's all in one place.

No idea how other people do this, would actually be interesting to find out about other/better ways

Yeah that was I was trying to find out in the other topic.
I was starting to wonder if to keep the reference in a project... for now I keep all reference in the master "mapping" folder, and I do thematic subfolders and/or chuck everything in the main reference folder, using file names like:

    penthouse-01.jpg
    penthouse-inside-01.jpg
    penthouse-mexico-inside-01.jpg

    etc.
Guess the idea is to just collect cool shit, then when I need it, sift through and collect in the map folder only the most relevant material. Because sometimes I just flick through the album of everything looking for inspiration.

But is starting to feel waste of time, since I haven't actually delivered anything yet.

Planning trips to Ethiopia and Indonesia to look at volcanoes and other geographic shizzle, my flickr is http://www.flickr.com/2dchris but I've not taken any serious photos/video in a while, plan to change that now I've settled into my new job.

That's amazing! Will look you up and follow waiting for some shizzle to show up :) I'm always happy to collect new desktop pictures, and volcanoes are cool.

When you going to Ethiopia? (I didn't know they have volcanoes there! :$)

Edit: just seen the album, great great stuff! Everything is so #crispy :D

Hover over a members name and click "Find Content". Isn't that what you search?

I'm embarrassed, looks like what I was thinking!
Doesn't seem so intuitive or immediate, is one of those things that I'd make redundant.

A function I would really like to see is "find all posts by author". Whether it's a filter in the advanced search or available in the profile* or both I don't care, but It'd be useful.

*think was like this in the old forum?

  • How to create borders like this the correct way?

    • blackdog
    • November 30, 2015 at 11:07 PM

Well for starters... you have a mix of straight and 45° junctions, at least decide on that and do all the same? If you go straight like on the left-hand side, if not perfect the thickness is surely closer.

Can definitely see what you picked up here! Intersting.

And in terms of managing reference, you keep stuff in the work folder of the map?

Anyway already yesterday I came up with a storyline that addresses the discrepancy.

CTs have taken over a Terrorist compound where the group was getting ready for their next attack with a dangerous nerve gas.

Now they have to defend it from the counter-attack: Ts have decided to blow up the canisters on-site, as the favourable weather conditions will direct the poisonous cloud straight into the town situated not far.

PS: I like the setting, as it is reminds me of the Kanals ;)

Yes I know, but chewing also activates your digestive reflexes and there should be a release of the acids in your stomach to digest food that will never go down, and that could cause some problems(?). At least that I was taught when I was a child :D

Not sure about the chewing gum eating... was brought up that any candy or chewing thingy was bad so I'm not used and rarely eat one. I also don't floss because it's too long process and never had problems, some rare tiny cavity that always got discovered early because of seeing dentist regularly.

My problem with wisdom teeth is that they've grown all bendy like 45° when out of the gum... I think that's because they put braces when I was in uni (i'm pushing teeth out with my tongue when I swallow) and wisdom teeth didn't have much space to come out. Was supposed to get them out as got swelling there a couple times, but dentist said "we'd do it if you get another swelling" which never came. When I asked him to remove em anyway (I can feel mouth doesn't close properly, just slightly misaligned) he said they are too bend and said "we are not gonna be friends after I finish there" (read: is gonna be very very painful)

Hey sorry for the gravedig, but I just stumbled on these picture of a Spanish town, some remind me of some angles of this map, so was wondering if it was a reference

I've been thinking of good headphones for a while... I've always been partial to the wired solution, but I'm thinking I'd prefer a wireless now, just thinking if I want to game or watch stuff late night and not disturb, cable might be not long enough, and is just annoying moving from PC to TV etc. Also could use with phone I imagine.

In my own personal experience, the best way to encourage my parents to support what I was doing mapping-wise was to earn some money. If you're just playing games and have no intention of making it a career, then earning money elsewhere might be a good sign that you still have your life on track.

It's probably important to remember that parents (typically) just want the best for you, so they look for signs that you're doing alright.

My parents never really believed I would get anywhere in game dev and discouraged me in several ways, so proving them wrong is one of my motivations for trying.

Hey, anyone playing on PC at all?

I coincidentally felt like playing some Batman when they were patching it. It seems to me that the performance is much improved, I started the Game+, got to 10% of the story in one sitting and game was constantly at 60fps (with manual unlock in the cfg). It suffers a lot for tearing tho :( especially in the moments the camera goes in FPS or in general in tight environments(!).

I dunno if it was the game, but after exiting the game, Firefox was fucked up (rendering was full of artifacts on UI and pages) so I had to reboot.
