Being anal but there are inaccuracies from my point of view in their explanation.

It's undoubtedly true that changing too much murks the waters on evaluating gameplay, but pistols and rifles are completely different things. Also (1) the update has been out too little to allow people to adjust to new mechanics, even if they were on the spot (2) of course that people are still spraying if the inaccuracy of rifles has backfired contrary to their expected result!

From what I read seems to me they should have rolled back only one of the two settings, probably rifles that seem to be more affected, while pistols people were saying was the correct direction(?)

Also stuff like timers sound very intuitive that increasing both, the update nullifies the other.

But yeah, like I was saying some posts ago, it's clear that they are adjusting the game on the big mass of casual players rather than pros. And I'll throw it out there: I don't see why tournaments shouldn't change settings like timers. Eg. for ages in international basketball tournaments Americans had to adapt to a longer shoot time. So if pro tournament organizers don't like the round timer, they should be enabled to change to cater to the experience they want to have.

it's expressed numerically, so there are no "skill groups" as they exist in CS.

Understand. But I imagine they still mix people with different skill levels, wouldn't make sense to have people only level 14 together... you never have the chance to improve(?).

then why are they doing things?

I think they know, but you can anyway spin it as "experimentation".

I did think of the natively supported feature for jobs, but implementation aside, you also need to think how you use the information, where do you display it?

Best thing came to mind would be a user directory, where you see a list of all users, and can filter and sort by different fields. Could also be applied to stuff like gaming networks so that you can look for people playing on the platform of your choice.

But like Sprony said, doesn't sound like anything that should be a priority

I was thinking of Tomb Raider when this topic was opened, for the SP, but was so long ago… also never played TR3 (just tried and remember how dumb was the "innovation" introduced like crawling).

I very well remember the Venice map and the Shipwreck from TR2, I would put a honourable mention for the latter, as I think was the first map ever to have an upside down scenario.

I just wonder why spending so much time creating your own engine, for a game that has no special tech features, looks like they could have made this in half time with UE/Unity

The whole issue with the change is that the first shot is so bad that spraying became the main method of shooting in CS:GO. If that were better, the changes would probably feel way better. I've never quite felt comfortable with the CS:GO AK when compared with 1.6, I don't know why they would make it harder.

    oh that's why I suck! :)

no seriously, never been ace but I haven't been able to adapt to the new mechanics, and always try to do single shots. sometime is embarrassing.

Dont the pros in tournament single/burst fire?? (I don't watch matches)

My concern is more an unreliable network I have here… one of the reasons I haven't participated in CS testing in a long time. Tried that recently and wasn't too bad, might have time to try again during holidays and see how it goes. They have done some maintenance, but for normal browsing and movie watching seems it's always the same

Love the art style they went for.

Been waiting for this for a long time. I feel I'm drawn more to this sort of adventure-puzzle in the last years.

Very interesting post @Corwin, thanks for sharing. I just got a new hosting yesterday and I'm gonna put my own portfolio back up.

I've been wondering recently if it would be positive to make a portfolio page tailored to the employer one is applying at. Like say highlighting stuff made in CryEngine if applying at CryTek when one has multiple engines skills. Or just in general find a way to tailor the page to a company, like you do with cover letter.

And speaking of letters, can it be that one is dismissed straight from the letter of application, and the website is not even looked at? I dunno, just had a very quick look at marnamai's portfolio, but gave me the impression of someone who mainly designs maps, the comments about 3D surprised me a bit.

It could be either depending on how Valve would wish to implement it. Considering how every other skin renders for all clients, so you can see the bright blue camo of my long ass m4a1-s sticking out around a corner, I would imagine DDs implementation the more likely of the two.

Yeah, valid point. The way it is now you would have to display on all clients, you could "easily" double check on a client skin choice.

Since Revolvers have 6 rounds vs 7 in the deagle, it's a pointless discussion anyway XD I agree with @DrywallDreams that is just better to have different weapons.

Now I'm trying to imagine if they were to change the weapons on a seasonal base like we'd like them to do with maps :D

Then it's plain confusing for players finding them on the ground. Also new weapons exist to provide new functionality, otherwise it's a waste of space.

Agree with the technical points, just want to point out that iIf it was a skin, it would be client side so people wouldn't see a Revolver if they have chosen the Deagle.

Just had a discussion (over text) with girlfriend because I still haven't gotten the xmas present, so despite she's gonna go up to her family in 10-12 days she decided I wouldn't have gotten it in time and ordered what she wished herself.

This is for trying to find something different from the wishlist, and thinking of getting something better than she indicated.

I do get to think if we should go on our own ways, I feel I love her, I can picture myself being with her on a long time scale... then she gets pushy like saturday when she tackled on the subway the topic of me needing to move closer, and what are my plans for that. When I don't even know where I will find, if I can find(!), a job in IT, in London. That btw ended up with us missing the stop and between the lines was of course my fault that we had.
