@Vorontsov crouch jumping has nothing to do with spam crouching 8|

There would be nothing to fix if they implemented the 1.6 crouching, by the way, which is what i have repeated enough times already.

I don't think of those themes much, I mean there oppressive corp or government is a staple of the sci-fi genre. Also I think a game like Deus Ex should allow you to choose your own path, be a fascist if you feel like oppressing the pueblo :D

Examples brought up before are real history, stuff that most don't even know. Because my Italian heritage I have been dreaming of making a game set in the 70s, one of the darkest periods. There's so much espionage and detective that you could source from. As well stuff like JFK assassination. But it's difficult, even to get to publish these games… remember of that Iraqi war game that was pulled (by T2 I think?), Falluja?

Yeah, I think we should have more historical and informative pieces of story in games. Not all games, but some could do. Guess the big problem is presenting events in a way that doesn't force an opinion to players.

Not sure I completely understand your example, but I guess yes, as a player I would much rather see people constantly abusing glitches banned. Honestly, fuck them.

Don't get me for a stupid though, I don't think I have suggested this should be implemented, I just expressed a wish. Not that it couldn't be done, since they are tracking spam crouching, they could do something like they do for quitters: do a temp ban as soon as the round finishes, bet they would stop if you give increasingly longer bans when you reiterate.

But let's repeat another time for sake of clarity: I think Valve shouldn't have implemented the anti-spam at all, is just another piece of code that can break or get exploited. I would have rather seen changed the behavior of crouching (back to the way 1.6 was). Stamina is not part of the CS DNA, is contradicting other game principles, so I think should not be there.

Continuing my catching up, on the other hand Civil War must be the best Marvel movie to date. I can't think of anything better or even equally good; maybe Iron Man had a similar emotional impact, being the very first good superhero movie.

They really outdid themselves balancing and giving meaningful contribution to any hero, I wasn't expecting to see Ant Man giving such a big contribution. Also choreography for Falcon was very good.

I don't understand all the rave with Deadpool :| I find it just "ok". I know it's an irreverent character and different from the others, but I found the continuous breaking of the 4th wall a bit annoying, would be ok done sparingly a-la House of Cards. He's not just addressing to the audience but as well at the movie industry, which I find jarring. Humor was good but sometimes they slipped in a joke too much, just to fill. Also annoying the CG character is a bit too noticeable fake in the action shots. But I think thing that annoyed me most was the movie flow, that for half of the runtime bounces between the opening action sequence and flashbacks.

Maybe I just ruined it because I was too tired and had to watch it in more than one sitting. But I'm happy I didn't pay for it.

I just bought The Walking Dead: Michonne on Humble Bundle, and on top of the Steam key I received a TellTale key, sounds like they have their own delivery system? Anyway if you fancy that, hit me up on PM and I'll pass on the TTG key.

Also I bought again The Walking Dead 400 Days DLC #stupidme -_-' so I have a Steam spare key now. Hit me up.

You're going to ban someone because they got too creative at your game? When the fault is clearly in the game engine? How fucked up is that? You're everything wrong with game developpers these days.

CS 1.6 already had a good solution anyway, this video clearly shows the problem.

That's not exactly the concept I wanted to express.

I'm talking about sportsmanship as a player. I don't call creative an idiotic being who's only means to success is to cheat and bypass the normal flow of the game.

i never spawn camped in DoD for eg.

Yes rules are those that are coded in, but afaik there are rules for tournaments that cover sportsmanship and behaviour (no pixel walking or peeking through NODRAW textures etc).

Also the game features a voting system for annoying players. (Hence recognising the concept of unfair play)

What I said in the first place is that it's stupid to code a system that monitors a buggy/lousy implementation, instead of fixing the underlying problem (leave aside the argument of actual current problem with hitboxes), because that eventually opens up to more exploiting.

That means: let people spam crouch if they want.

What I'm arguing is: why is that an effective "mechanic" in the first place? Player is technically moving, aim should go to hell. And you could circle back to why is spraying an effective mechanic.

Like the guy in the video illustrates, in CS1.6 the implementation was natural, elegant. In CSGO it's artificial and makes you want to pierce your eyeballs.

I'm not the one who has decided spam crouching is a malpractice: it's valve who's acknowledging it, since they are "fixing" it. And they are doing it in a way that to me is alien to the game. At that point you might as well kick or ban a player. They are temporarily banning people quitting from competitive games after all. I'm not saying they should, on the contrary: I think they should not give players a reason to be dicks, instead of trying to give players a reason not to be dicks.

I'm just thinking: you want the game to be a sport? Than apply sport rules: players are punished when they don't follow the rules.

It's ridiculous to have stamina in a game were you can run endlessly, or jump endlessly.

Target harder to hit? Though luck imo.

But in the post they make it sound as the crouch-spam highlights problems with the hit boxes, hence my reaction (from past experience).

And of course it is an added complexity compared to not having it: it's more code – that will be exploited at some point (like mentioned above spam all the other directions – next step another update that monitors that as well?).

Since crouch-spam is something localised to specific locations, then change the metrics and update maps to remove such hiding spots(?).
