What's lifetime insurance in a videogame?! Like not only you can pay $100 easy on a ship… but if it gets wrecked or captured by others is lost forever?

I wish there was that kind of modularity in SnapMap!

Regarding the monetisation, I really don't understand how you guys are convincing players to buy all that stuff. Add-ons that cost as much as a game is crazy for what I'm concerned.

If this was BF4 or Gears, the map would flow like it happens for real :D

    Yeah, instantly recognisable.

I say kudos to Valve for trying this: probably half of the mappers of the world have attempted or thought of setting their map in Venice, the alleyways and coloured houses are so attractive.

But everyone has given up because of water and such open areas that bottleneck to a tip of a needle.

It's too fucking big lol, I am for the first time a bit interested in the franchise but who has the time to play something like this when Batman AK took me 70h tofibish the main quest (and playing some challenges).

Anyway in a news video they were saying there are 1200 talking characters, more than… I think ME 2&3 combined.

To be fair, at least he played the map, we've been saying things from "doesn't look good for competitive" to "it's terrible" before playing at all.

An opinion is an opinion and I wouldn't call what baem wrote "writing off"…

Kill boxes can be fun, we don't need to start a flame over a map.

How you know slots available? Is it based on old total numbers after Valve moved/removed/rearranged the lists? (Haven't been playing in a long time :( )

    This portrays Venice pretty well.

Unfortunately the areas chosen are not as colourful as Sapienza in Hitman (some alleys further down toward the Arsenal are).

Judging from the screens it looks like they adapted a layout around the real world geography… which is new for an official CS map. (This has been my approach when attempting making a CS map and always got stuck.) Doesn't seem great for gameplay tho.

But I just wonder, there was a map by the same name that was being developed by a user on this forum, was it ever finished, they had to tell him they were taking the map name… used that map as a base??

I think before taking on a project of a full map, even if small, maybe work on a couple rooms, preferably following a tutorial for creating a simple scene.

They have loads of tuts on the unreal yt channel, but I purchased anyway "the corridor project" from Worldofleveldesign: this mainly because I was getting the assets to go with the project, so I only needed to concentrate on using the editor without scouting for the proper resources. You should get that sense of achievement of completing something in a short amount of time that should give you confidence to tackle something more meaningful.

Also if you are planning any particular script or "moving parts" in there (e.g. teleporter or elevator) consider building that first, just so you don't get halfway through and get stuck because you can't get something to work*.

There are many more tutorials of course, I think was @(HP) that created a serious UE tutorial, although maybe that's assets creation pipeline… but you get the assets purchasing the course :)

*like this happened to me on an HL2 map I was building and even posted on the WIP topic, stupid stuff like a ladder stopped working after first few compiles, I couldn't get an elevator to function properly even if I was following a tutorial step by step (and built plenty of those in HL1 maps).
