You feeling done with Source stuff (until Source 2)?

I have played a few afternoons around with Far Cry 3 editor back a few years back (on the xbox! Didn't have a PC at the time) and since recently I played to finish FC4 was thinking if to jump in that editor and try something new...

Thought that match with Mouse counts as playoff... as one game played with direct elimination?

I want SK to go through but Fnatic is putting up a fight! Overtime already on the first map!

Surprised by C9 getting through, I'm happy for them but was expecting G2 really, everybody was naming them as top 3 for the title basically.

Changing layout on a finished map must have been a bitch. Would be great if you could translate it, probably they’d republish it here on the forum!

So I was watching yday a video of someone’s base/house and my thought was “how much of a bitch would be to clean the outside”, then in the cinematic trailer there’s a shot of a house covered… you have growth of corals etc on the structures you build @dux?

Also does it have a storyline or is all emergent gameplay?

But in fact your point is true, the cost of food has risen astronomically over the last 100 years. Probably a lot of factors in that, but chief among them we kind of need it to live. I'm not gonna die if I don't get to play Cuphead for a week.

I'm certainly not advocating we make games $200, but it always fascinates me. Maybe the real issue here is eating/drinking out is too damn expensive! :P

Well top games, between season pass and possibly other DLC after that are not really that far from that mark. I got the feeling that 2014-2016 publishers were pushing hard on collector's and special editions, so they could end up raking $200 on many copies, at some point in the recent past felt there were more special editions than standard copies.

I also think expectations on cost are on the average, teenager gamer. I think adults are much happier to spend $30 for 6h of a well crafted experience they can fully enjoy, rather than spend say 15-20 and be still nowhere near the end.

The food argument is a bit weird, certainly the cost has gone up and up but we are used to it? I don't compare games to my everyday food, of course I need to eat first, choice between two might come into play for special experiences. A lot lies on perspective, as a teenager I much rather save having a pizza with friends and buy a game, now it's the reverse. We have spent £60-70 a pop on themed dinners (look up gingerline London to understand what I mean) and found it quite hard to commit (but in the end considered "good value")... yet we buy so regularly £7-10 wine/prosecco that if we weren't, we would have a huge pot for stuff like those dinners.

The salary topic is quite interesting and very delicate as well... most people feel underpaid. High skills have to be rewarded, yet if we go back to the food and games comparison, someone skilled in making food is sooooo much less paid than "anyone" in the software industry, at the end of the day which skill would be more important, really?

What a game to finish off the first part of the Boston Major, an overtime game seems the right way to go for the very last match as Space Soldiers dig deep and advance to the next stage.

I really like the style of play they have, they seem more loose and creative than the big teams... but there might be also the reason why the established contenders are in that position.

lol, very uninteresting :D thought were USBs where they kept their configs or something.

SK vs Faze are on now, just a taste of final/semifinal! But everyone is talking about G2, like SK was happy to avoid G2 for now... wasn't expecting the French to be such strong contenders to the title. Last night Astralis vs North was tight!

Anyway I came to post cos they were saying "Cache is falling into popularity [because on B connector a smoke blocks completely the view and you might get 5 players rushing through]"

Watching these underdogs, Vega as well yday, is so good... is a bit like watching NCAA basketball, I see these teams doing things that the big names don't ever pull. Quite spectacular

That's interesting i didn't even think that a player would think the objective is to reach the turrets but yes indeed that's something you do usually in HL2, you can always take down ennemies somehow and kind of expect to come back here later if you can't immediately. It is indeed an issue that i must take into consideration for my next projects. And yes the idea was that the player has control over electricity state for the whole room with 1 switch, it was more obvious when I was using the HL2 lever model but encountered another issue : the players only tried to pull down the lever because you never use it in both directions in HL2 :(

So that's why I used a combine console with 2 buttons but it doesn't work as much as a big lever to tell the player how important it is. Louder sounds for the door and electricity changing state would have helped a lot i believe.

Eventually there would be the option of using the big cable plugs like in Red Letter Day and onwards, player is used to disconnect them to proceed. Maybe slightly harder to make them understand they have to reconnect... I felt the console worked well, best with what you had available

Edit: @leplubodeslapin or, continuing the thought of the plug/cable, a two stage thing as if disabling--proceeding--enabling--proceeding (but in the end i really like what you did)

have a question regarding settings: it appears to me that CSGO overrides video settings from external panels or applications -- I was happy to notice way back, before f.lux introduced the "disable for full screen applications" that CSGO was disabling the orange filter. I'm happy in the sense that goes a long way to level the playing field... but I've noticed from some higlight reels that progamers streaming have very washed out captures, clearly lowering contrast and increasing alpha to spot whoever hides in a dark corner. How do they do that? I was looking into doing a light version of that yesterday to make the game playable... as I don't have curtains in the living room, in a sunny day, I can't spot a CT hiding in the dark corner of -for eg- Cobble, when exiting Underpass, despite screen being max brightness and in-game brightness being maxed out; I would have needed something like an external screen protection/blinker/panel and maybe still a baseball hat for myself. I'm talking about a laptop btw.

Nice input @FMPONE, I liked @leplubodeslapin map as well; regarding the conclusion of the map I can say I thought I was going to lead the hunter into a fall and proceed… i found it anti climatic as well but also poetic and original. I didn’t have problem with the turret-door puzzle, I mean it felt a bit of a gamble and “experimentatious”, was a bit of a “a-ha!” and liked it for that matter.

Everything you pointed out is true, I just think that imo HL doesn’t signpost as much as other games and lets players explore and discover (remember finding the batteries in the coast chapter tonopem the gates?), so in that regard I felt the map was executed in the same style/spirit.
