Man, I've got so many games but I'm not playing any of them. This has been going on for a while now. Almost everything I'm interested in has been turned into an open world game. I've got nothing against them, but I'm just so fatigued. Yesterday I finally started Shadow of Mordor. Great presentation, excellent sound design. I enjoyed the intro and the start a lot. But then I unlocked the map, saw all the objectives and I was just done. The same with The Witcher 3. I start it up again, I'm amazed the first couple of minutes and then I see my questlist and the worldmap and I'm just tired and quit again.
It's not the games. The problem lies with me. But I'm not getting any gaming done this way. I tried some smaller indie games or just shorter games. But if I play them I miss getting lost in other worlds. There's no pleasing me. I'm such a whiny bitch.
So, I get to review Doom for Eurogamer Benelux

Man, so even in death, han shot first....
I've seen so many people get killed by this disease. Young and strong, old and weak. It doesn't matter. It kills indiscriminately. Hell, I've even seen people overcome it multiple times but it always comes back....with a vengeance. It's true that it goes quicker once you give up but man, what kind of power do you need to posses in order to keep your head up? In the end, it consumes us all.
I understand his decision to cut himself off from social media though. No reason to read that poison in your last remaining years. Hell, no reason to read it even if you weren't sick. The Internet is a great thing but there's a dark side that I find troublesome. The venom people spit out and the amount of crap 'celebrities' have to endure really makes me not want to live on this planet anymore.
Overall I liked it. The filter they used made everything look a bit too soft for my taste but I'm not complaining. One thing that annoyed me though, are the bullet sponge enemies. Nothing wrong with the mechanic itself, but in a realistic setting like this, it feels really out of place having to shoot a guy in the head four or five times before he goes down.
