Not sure what to think of the art direction, either. Seems they have gone for the blizzard look for some reason. Been looking forward to this for a long time and so far... disappoint. Here's hoping it improves over time.

I'm probably overthinking it. But to me, it seems to be done on purpose. In the trailer, the Space Marines really get their asses kicked. Their skinny look makes them appear even more vulnerable. Keeping in mind the ending of the previous game (including DLC) it's understandable that this is the Blood Ravens darkest hour.

This also ties in with what we see and what's said in the trailer. They are looking up at a statue of an authority figure and they then try to withstand the blast. To me, this refers to previously mentioned betrayal within their ranks and their fight against the taint of Chaos.

Then we see the battle and their everlasting foes try to finish the job. All seem to die but you see the main character smiling because it's a good death. They defied Chaos and died in glory fighting the enemies of the Imperium for the everlasting Emperor.

Oh, and I really like the art direction.

Curious about the direction of the game. If they will go more Total War or more Moba. Does anyone know?

Neither. They are going to combine the best of the first and the second. Meaning Hero Units with gear and still building bases. Plus there's a big empahsis on huge units. Here are some screenshots:

It may be me or perhaps because it's text and hard to understand what someone really means, but I'm getting a strong impression that Dux doesn't like consoles.

I don't buy Activision games out of principle. Unless it's Blizzard, who seem largely unaffected by the corporate greed.

Phase 1 has officially come to an end. The submission thread is now closed. I want to ask everybody to check their submission posts and make sure it follows the exact template. Plus, a screenshot would be appreciated.

The most important thing however is that everybody, that agrees, adds this disclaimer in their submission posts:

“I agree that this content constitutes a Submission under the Unreal Engine EULA ( https://www.unrealengine.com/eula ).”

It's needed so that Epic can put all Phase 1 submissions on their Epic HUB's that are already running custom content. That should make it a lot easier for the community to test and provide feedback amongst themselves.

Without the added disclaimer, your map cannot be play tested

Unlocked. It wouldn't be fair otherwise since I was stuck in traffic and should have been home before 9 to close it myself. After that, it's really closed (several others were officially too late as well due to me being stuck). If anybody opposes this one hour exception please let me know.

I can't wait to see how long it will take them this time to get the game running properly after release. Also, I can't wait to pay 40 euros for Premium and see the community get splintered or being forced to play a stripped down basic version of the game with only a handful of maps. But most of all I can't wait to play a shooter on a peasant console just to avoid Origin.

    Bring it!

Seems as though that time and failure hasn't effected his ego. He went in arrogant, totally unprepared and figured, wrongly, that he could bank on his name alone seeing as how Adrian never worked on games since. Not only didn't he have a single succesful game under his belt since his id Software days, every artist knows you are only as good as your latest work. Seeing his latest big game was Daikatana, that really ain't something worth bragging about.

This course correction was the only resort to not fail horribly.

Plus, the whole premise is kinda lazy. Oh, let's go for a holodeck because we haven't have a single clue on what we want to make so now we have an excuse to make it all. Feels like Daikatana all over again.

Make us a kick ass demo John. A demo so great it puts my reaction to shame. Otherwise, just go home.

I got hospitalised today and I won't have access to my latest content until after the submission date, I do have a copy of the original metro map I worked on, I know we can evolve our shells in phase 2 but would it be possible to submit my old content for now and then push through with the new shell in phase 2?

The new shell isn't a drastic change, it just works off subtractive methods instead of being solely additive, which has allowed for better refinement of paths I wanted to create.

If I can't then no problem, I'll use the old shell and get it up to speed in phase 2.

If you need to have something uploaded, it's fine seeing your predicament. However, I would prefer if you use the old shell in phase 2.

But on a serious note @dux. I've been following this very closely. They haven't announced a full editor for pc (yet). This one works on all platforms and is fully based on prefabs. That way there's never a big file to download and you can share and play it immediately. That all sounded very limiting but I'm actually surprised in what's possible. It's way more capable than I imagined. Still hoping for a full SDK for pc though.

Now the good part. Game logic! You can change everything rather quickly. You didn't like loadouts? Remove it. You didn't like Demon Runes? Remove it. You want it to be about map control? Add weapons to the map. It plays too slow? Crank up the speed. Lots of the critique I have is fixable in SnapMap.
