I never cared for Superman but since Nolan's attached, I'll go see it.

But I feel that a rocket to face was the only way to eliminate such a superior foe. Taste differs.

The thing I actually liked best about this one is how it ends. There's a very clear message throughout all three movies and Nolan doesn't miss a beat. Think about it:

    Quote

In Batman Begins it's all about fear. How to overcome it. How to use it and of course, what Batman represents. It's about becoming a symbol that is incorruptible and everlasting. Something elemental and something terrifying.

In The Dark Knight it's about remaining incorruptible. Doing the right thing. That's why he doesn't kill the Joker even though he wants him to break his one rule. The Joker even says: "You truly are incorruptible, aren't you? You won't kill me out of some misplaced sense of self-righteousness".

And not to forget the ongoing fight for Gotham's soul. Since Batman Begins, crime has decreased and people are less scared. Which is why Harvey Dent is supposed to be the white knight. Someone who could take over from Batman because the people wouldn't need him anymore. The Joker of course tries to get Gotham to turn on Batman, in which he succeeds untill the ferry scene. The right moral choice was made sending a message of united we stand.

Unfortunately The Joker reveals his ace in the hole, Harvey Dent and the things he has done. That's why Batman takes the blame. Gordan said it best:"Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight".

In The Dark Knight rises it's made clear that crime in Gotham is under control. It's peace time and so Batman is gone. Events force him out of retirement and again he saves the city and seems to die in the process. Making him a legend that will never be forgotten. After Robin leaves the police force, Wayne left him the keys to the Batcave and all his gear. He has finally found someone to take over meaning he can go on with his life. Robin will become the new Batman and as soon as he is spotted, the original goal is fullfilled. Batman has become a everlasting terrifying symbol!

    Respect Nolan!

I went two years ago and I was very disappointed. I wanted to avoid the crowds so I made sure we were already there when it opened. We Immediately proceeded towards the Diablo 3 area. By the time we got there, the line was already 2 hours long. I guess I wasn't the only one with that idea. Average waiting lines that day were around 3 hours. There were even long waiting lines to see trailers. I'm talking about 1 or 2 hours here. In the end I didn't play a single game and early in afternoon it got too crowded. The heat outside combined with the huge amount of people inside made you feel you were in a microwave and not to mention the smell. It was bad!

The only way I'm going back there if I can get some sort of VIP access or a press card

There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism. The movie certainly isn't flawless. But I'm talking about people complaining about ridiculous small things.

    Quote

Such as the travel time between Batmans prison and Gotham.

I understand your views and I agree on the death scene, that was really bad. To me the movie seemed a little rushed as well but that was countered by the constant tension. I disagree with the rest though. You got a point about the flaming bat sign, but it's the symbolism that matters. It was very important and it needed to be done. I actually liked Bane's death. Abrupt but fresh and for me, it was better then a cliche end fight.

I think that most people that complain about the plot devices [not talking about you PaulH] simply weren't paying enough attention. Because it was actually put together very well. Can't blame those people though. The movie was fast paced and took me two sittings to get the most out of it.

I completely agree! I Immediately watched it the first day. The only thing that bothers me are all these trolls nitpicking every little thing and going on and on about it. Not only that but also the godlike status The Joker seems to have. Don't get me wrong, I loved Heath as The Joker, but I do really wonder if he would have gotten the same recognition if he was still alive?

Screenshots look interesting. Too bad I don't play TF2. Those orange and grey 'test' textures could be usefull. Do they come with the game?

I haven't played Battlefield before. Only the demos of 1942 and Battlefield 2. But the trailers really sold it to me. I'm loving Conquest! I feel like a little boy again playing all out warfare with his friends and their plastic guns while hiding in trees and stuff

I've played a lot of shooters but somehow I get raped in this game. I'm not a great FPS player but certainly a bit above average. I tried all classes and played most of it as a sniper. But my guns don't seem to do a lot of damage. Even when sniping, it takes up to 3 hits before someone goes down.

I switched to TDM and Rush to get better acquinted with the game and I do get better results in those game modes. But there are a lot of unlocks and weapons and god knows what I don't know of. Which makes me wonder if I'm so bad? Perhaps everyone else is just really good or maybe my gear is just crap.

Any advice, pointers or links would be appreciated. I know Google is my friend, but I like to hear it from you guys if I may

i don't know man, i don't think you should necessarily expect anything from a game. unless you enjoy being furious and venting frustrations about it. i reserve that right to very few games, and certainly not new IPs being tried.

That's a valid point. But I think an even better point would be: "Don't believe the developers". I've seen countless of interviews in which they state Rage is going to be something different, it's a open world, you got freedom, etc. That's one of the reasons I got so frustrated with the invisible walls. Indeed, it doesn't have more invisible walls then any other modern shooter. But those games didn't market themselves as open world shooters.

Oh and the blurry textures are not solved. The patch addressed the issues with textures popping in. Everything up close in the game is still extremely blurry. Now I'm not a graphic whore, but when I look at something from a modern game, I would expect better texture quality then a game from the 90s right? Oh wait, don't expect anything, I'm doing it again

Sounds like we didn't play the same game then

But it's funny that you say my criticism seems barely founded and the only example you give of this is the one thing I didn't really elaborate on. I give multiple examples in that review of the things I mention.

I don't know how you play games, but I can't imagine you did not come across invisible walls. I suggest you try exploring your surrounding a bit. Oh wait, you can't, not really. Because everything is conveniently clipped, has locked doors, obstacles, etc. I didn't expect Fallout but at least give me some room.

I'm not talking about backtracking in the levels themselves. I'm talking about having to revisit most of them. The first time you go from A to B and the second time you go from B to A. That's basically the same thing if you ask me. Plus, all the driving areas. You drive those routes lots of times but there's not much there except the same respawning enemies. It was fun at first but after the tenth time it became a drag. Quest system isn't perhaps the best word. I mean the types of quests you get and the way quests progress.

I didn't expect a destructible world. Never said that. Doom 3 is 8 years ago and it had more physics then Rage. That's not hype, that's what we've come to expect from games.

I have to quote myself from another thread here:

    Quote

If you call blurry textures, a static world, invisible walls everywhere, alsmost no story, lots of backtracking, ridiculous quest system and worthless ending good then by all means, it's a fantastic game

And if your interested, I wrote a review here.

I didn't realise that the game isn't dependent on EA services to run online. I was worried they would kill it like they do with a lot of console titles.
