We just saw Wreck it Ralph. For me, it's the best animation movie since Finding Nemo. You can tell it's made with a lot of love. Brings back tons of childhood memories. I smiled and laughed all the way though. I highly recommand this one.

Trailers don't mean shit. I'm not going to judge a book on it's cover. Me and my mates already bought this (24 euro at CD key Discount). We're going to have a LAN the 16th and I'm positive there's fun to be had. It's fucking Aliens!

I'm very impressed by J.J.'s short "Breakfast". It gives me high hopes.

Quote from blackdog
No chance they could go indipendent?
Word is, without a buyer, the studio is closed because it's owned by THQ.But, like you said, they could change their name and go independent. But I don't know if they have resources for that. From what I gathered. Darksiders 2 didn't do well enough in sales and the project they were working on is now cancelled. There's nothing to pitch to publishers. So it's most likely game over.

Koch Media also bought Metro. Take Two bought Evolve. Still no word about Vigil. two great games, a promising franchise and no interest. Seriously?

I tried to watch Silent Hill: Revelations, but it was such an cluster fuck that I fell a sleep about 20 minutes in.

Since the auction will continue within 2 hours, here are the latest rumors:

To summarize: Sega wants to Relic, Ubisoft wants South Park, Koch Media wants Volition and EA wants the WWE license. Strangely enough, no word about Virgil.

There doesn't seem to be a topic about reading books while I know a lot of you like to read. If it somehow didn't show up in the search then feel free to delete this post.
Anyway, I just finished this:
[Blocked Image: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/.a/6a00d8341c630a53ef01676533bcc8970b-800wi]
I found it very interesting. It's was enjoyable to read and it has lots of background information. Besides, he's a funny guy. There's some real comedy in there. I especially like the chapter when he's in the army. I recommend it!

I have to wait untill 28-02. Damn Americans! Besides, it's a retarded move bij the studio anyway. Numbers have already shown (think Expendables for example) that old school action movies and stars don't do well in the states. The money comes from Europe and Asia. Why wait a month to release it where it's the most popular? Now you have a change, if there's a lot of criticism, that you might scare away potential customers.

Somehow I'm playing through Darksiders once again after originally beating the game in early 2009. Oh and I also finished The Walking Dead episode 4 and 5 that I hadn't played yet.
I recently picked up Darksiders in a bargain bin for 15 euros. The first half hour or so it felt like a God of War rip-off but as soon as you get passed that it's a wonderful game. It's like Zelda and Kratos made a baby. I love the art style, voice acting, weapons, levels, swimming, etc. I'm now 9 hours in or so. Great game so far! What do you think of it?

A lack of quality never really crossed my mind when I read your articles. If you’re an amateur then I’m honestly impressed.
Yes, I'm an amateur. Not only that, I'm also Dutch. So thank you for that huge compliment
Quote from FMPONEI think what you're experiencing is not unusual. Front page articles of a forum aren't going to be the huge draw that the forum is, but that doesn't mean there isn't interest. It's just a more narrow interest than the forum itself. It's still worthwhile, IMO
You are absolutely right about that. We also didn't expect a huge draw. It was more based on how many clicks it got and how they were rated (average). I'm also glad you feel that way.
Quote from ThrikAnyway it should make things easier as there'll be a clear invitation and process to contribute, and hopefully the resuming flow of articles will make people want to get involved. I'll also dig out the held article mentioned above to go with the upcoming ones.
Can't wait Thrik!

Still watching Boardwalk Empire. That Gyph Rosetti is one crazy bastard!

Beefeater: Thank you! At least someone enjoyed it

What we've noticed so far is that the community didn't really respond to the articles. That could be the lack of quality in my work or perhaps the content just simply doesn't interest this community very much.
That's why I stopped writing. However, Thrik, you still have one of my articles laying on the shelf (The COD Effect). If there is renewed interest then I'm more then willing to continue writing.

Some of you might have played the original Wasteland way back in 1988. I didn't. But still, I'm a backer of this project since it's the granddaddy of some of my favorite games. Namely Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics. It's not everyday that they make a top down post nuclear role playing game. But thanks to Kickstarter, it will happen.
I'm posting this here for two reasons:
Every gamer who likes old school RPG's, a post nuclear setting, squad based combat and lots of freedom should take a look at Wasteland 2's Vision document. If you don't like reading, here's a very early WIP shot:
[Blocked Image: http://wasteland.inxile-entertainment.com/images/press/screenshot-style-dev.jpg]
You can get early access to the beta by backing the project. More about that here. For news, visit the blog. To discuss the game, check out the forum.
The second reason is making money or getting experience as a designer. This is of course a design community and it's interesting to know that inXile is partnering with Unity in a Crowdsourced Experiment. You have a chance to make the requested 3D models and sell them. Even if you don't manage to sell them, it's still a valuable lesson and you can always try to sell it in the Unity store. More about this here.
I'll keep this thread updated and hopefully it will be of interest to you all.
