I really really really because it has tons of atmosphere and some really cool ideas (like the gas mask, the pump weapons, etc) but the crappy AI and poor stealth killed it for me. I hope they do better in this one. Except the whole faction idea (Nazi's, Communist, etc) feels unnecessary imo.

There was never any doubt about me getting this and it being great but it's nice to see that it's raining 100% scores in the reviews. One review even calling it best game of the 21st century. You guys over at Irrational should be proud.

However great and original the intro to Fallout 3 was. I'm referring to the intro of the first Fallout with the epic voiceover bij Ron Perlman.

I went to see the new Oz in Imax. I normally don't like 3D but this movie made good use of it and it looked great in Imax. The movie itself was nicely done. It connects to the original which is quite a surprise since it's been like, 70 years or so. I love the art and the different styles (dark, bright, normal, over the top, etc). It's still Disney, so you can expect and sweet ending and a moral tale to it but still, it's enjoyable. CGI doesn't take over and is used well. Franco is great, Rachel Weisz is enjoying herself only Mila Kunis is pretty weak in this. But yeah, Raimi did a good job. Now gives us Evil Dead 4!

    No love for Fallout? Really?

Not sure if this was eventually used as an intro in the game (can't remember). But it definitively fits into the intro category and still gives me goosebumps. You know, back in the day when the story didn't suck

You are certainly not the only one. Even though it's looking great, I've not been following this for the simple fact that it's an MMO. For me, the STALKER series was appealing due to loneliness and depressing atmosphere. I don't want to share that experience with other players nor do I wish to do a bunch of fetch quests.

Really enjoying Dishonored so far. Only got to taking out the Overseer dude (first proper mission) but the game has a great feel about it.

It's interesting how many other games this one evokes when I play it. As I proceed I keep getting flashes of Half-Life 2, Deus Ex, Fable, and BioShock. But it does it all so well I don't care where the inspiration came from.

My only problem so far is that if I ever end up in a combat situation I get seriously assholed. I just can't seem to deal with more than a couple of dudes without burning through my entire stock of health. I guess this is to encourage stealth though, and I imagine I'll become more powerful with more runes.

I'm with you on that. I also love the art style. Stealth is by far the way to go and indeed, once you have runes you become a ninja. It's not often I play a game in which I really go for the stealth approach. Besides, I don't kill a lot of people. That's a first. Only those who deserve it. I also like the multiple options you have in dealing with a situation. Nice game so far. I think I'm half way through.

To the executives at EA, from one of your employeesI am deeply embarrassed by the troubled launch of Sim City and I hope you are too. When I walk around our campus and look at the kind of talent we’ve collected, the amenities we have access to and the opportunities working at such a big company affords us, I can’t imagine how for release after release, EA continues to make the same embarrassing, anti-consumer mistakes. We should be better than this. You should not be failing us so badly.

Another thing I see when I walk around our campus are massive banners that display what are said to be our company values. They are on posters on every floor, included in company-wide emails and hanging above the cafeteria in bright colors. You even print them on our coffee mugs so we see them every day. But somehow when planning the launch of Sim City, you threw them all out the window.

Most important of the values you are ignoring is Think Consumers First. What part of the Sim City DRM scheme, which has rendered the game unplayable for hundreds of thousands of fans across the globe, demonstrates that you are thinking about consumers before you are thinking about yourselves? Does “first” mean something different in boardrooms than it does to the rest of us? Does the meaning of that word change when you get the word “executive” in front of your title?

You can’t even pretend that you didn’t know consumers would be angry about this. Common sense aside, consumers complained about this during your public betas. In fact, when one of them posted his criticisms on the forums, he was banned! You tried to silence your critics. The same thing is happening now as users write in to demand refunds. What part of this behavior aligns with our company value to Be Accountable?

What you’ve demonstrated with this launch is that our corporate management does not believe in our core values. They are for the unwashed masses, not for the important people who forced this anti-consumer DRM onto the Sim City team. This DRM scheme is not about the consumers or even about piracy. It’s about covering your own asses. It allows you to hand-wave weak sales or bad reviews and blame outside factors like pirates or server failures in the event the game struggles. You are protecting your own jobs at the expense of consumers. I think this violates the Act With Integrity value I’m looking at on my own coffee mug right now.

On behalf of your other employees, I’d like to ask you to fix this. Allow the Sim City team to patch the game to run offline. If Create Quality and Innovation is still a core value that you believe in, then this shouldn’t be a hard decision. Games that gamers can’t play because of server overload or ISP issues are NOT quality. Be Bold by giving the consumers what they want and take accountability for the mistake.

Finally I’d like to ask you to follow the last company value on the list in the future: Learn and Grow. When you made this mistake with Spore, the company and all your employees suffered for it. You didn’t learn from that mistake and you are making it again with Sim City.

So please, learn from this debacle. Don’t do this again. Grow into better leaders and actually apply our company values when you make decisions. Don’t just use them as tools to motivate your staff. With the money, talent and intellectual property available to EA, we should be leading the industry into a golden age of consumer-focused game publishing. Instead we’re the most reviled game publisher in the world. That’s your fault. Things can only change if you actually start following the company values and apply them to every title we launch.

    Sincerely,

A Disappointed But Hopeful Artist at EARS

EDIT: with regards to proof, I am an employee, so I do not want to jeopardize my standing, but today, all regular EA employees got an e-mail with a note from Gabrielle Toledano in celebration of International Women's Day. Another EA employee would have to confirm, but its the most proof I'm willing to risk providing.

So, I went to see this today. I was expecting a painful example of a failed comeback. At best, some mediocre crap like End of days or Collateral Damage. But I was pleasantly surprised. We all were. Sure, it won't win any awards for acting or writing but it is some good old fun. Arnie can still carry a movie. The action was great. Lots of humor, great one liners and nice little easter eggs for die hard Arnie fans. My friends rated this movie between 6.5 and 8. I would give it a 7. Stallone's next!

Last week's walking dead ep was so-so (not bad though).

The latest ep, on the other hand, was fantastic! Good stuff.

Yeah, but why bring someone back just for that? To illustrate different paths of sanity one can experience? No, there must be ulterior motives. I don't believe it's just him in this one episode otherwise I don't get the point really.

Great episode though, especially after the last one (which was, like you said, so-so).

No, it happens on multiple occasions. Sometimes you've finished a mission and then you get a call regarding the next one. But if you do other things next, like wanted or hunter missions, everytime you complete that, the original call gets repeated. So annoying.
