Absolutely cannot wait. I've been playing Gothic 2 lately (one of the very best RPGs I have ever played, easily) and if TW3 has a similar open-world approach without level scaling then it has the potential to become one of my all-time favorites.

I've finished the first one about a month ago and in the mean time I've been trying to complete other games in my huge back catalog. None of them manage to pull me in though because I'm only thinking about The Witcher 2. So today, after seeing these screens, I decided fuck my back catalog! I'm going to play The Witcher 2.

Nice going so far. What's planned for the rest of your week ;-)?

Thanks guys. Regarding your question: This is build based on reference shots of the old building where I used to work. So I'll keep expanding (it's a big building) until I feel comfortable enough with the editor to go for a full map.

A very simple scene after my first few days with Source. Loads to comment on of course but I'm still learning. I applied several techniques in this such as decals, overlays, props, env_sun, etc. So far I'm loving Source

I did it because it's easier to communicate with you all. Personally, I hate using online nicks for normal/serious conversations.

To those that are paranoid. Most of you are trying or have already made a name for yourself, using your nick, in design communities. In those communities (where you're known with your nick) you link to portfolio sites, LinkedIn profiles, etc which all use your real name. It's doesn't take an detective to put those two together. The only difference is, people would have to make an effort into doing so and since most are inherently lazy this feature comes as a blessing imo.

Apparently more people feel it looks like AC2. More about that here. In short, former AC2 lead accuses Monolith of using AC2 code.

I'm not really talking about making profit, but just getting a refuge currency, when euro will collapse, and for sure it will collapse, you will be happy to have some spare gold, and bitcoins to make a transfer.

Look at Cyrpus by example when it almost bankrupt, all the 'virtual money' ie all the savings from Cypriot have been frozen for a moment, they weren't able to take their own money. All accounts with more than 100.000€ as been taxed of 30%.

We don't handle our money, everything is fake and when it will collapse, you will loose everything, I want to get out of this game, gold has always been the main currency, and bitcoins are a good way to make transfers.

Maybe i'm looking a bit parranoïd, but Latvia will dig the grave of the EU zone, and Greece will push us into it.

QFT. My father warned me about this when the crisis hit. We've been saving gold ever since.

Come on man you know why that looks good in Marmoset - there's no way that you get close to that fidelity in a production environment even with PS4 / "next-gen" asset specs. If you made that in an actual studio for a PS4/XB1-spec game as a production asset, you'd get slapped. Crazy high-res normalmap, crazy high-res bespoke gloss map, and that's before we even get into the IBLs...

I read this 5 times. It's like some sort of alien language to me. Being an complete noob it reads like this: Blah Blah Blah PS4 Blah Blah Blah PS4 Blah Blah Blah

I'm exaggerating of course but besides some familiar terminology I think it says that HP is all about the bling with a disregard for the cost.

You know what the real beauty of this thread is? It's not only me that's being helped. Other newcomers will surely find this useful as well!

Source is a love/hate engine for most people. I've been working with it for almost like ten years now. Let's call it 8. It's definitely been on and off, but still that's a long time.

I would just say try to enjoy it, if you sit there getting angry at yourself for not making better use of five days, you will be miserable. Try to go at it in at least somewhat of a happy, creative mindset, without thinking overly about your available time.

Good point and I'll certainly keep that in mind. I expect to run into lots of problems. Just trying to avoid the most common ones

No, I'm totally new at it.

This is a weird thread and I doubt if anything will come from it. Nevertheless, it doesn't hurt to ask so bare with me please.

I want to become a better interviewer and that means I need to catch up with current tech and learn a thing or two about design (Quake 3 is a long time ago). Since this is primarily a Source community I decided to go for that engine. Not the most modern engine in the world but Google tells me the transition from Quake 3 to Source is easier. So let's consider this foreplay before moving on to even more modern engines

The game to map for will of course be CS:GO. This is a no-brainer. There are tons of tutorials out there and that's not what this thread is about. I already asked for those in this No, next week I have taken 5 days of from work. I cleared my schedule and made a pact with my wife. Those 5 days will not be claimed in anyway and the only thing I'm allowed to do is learn Source. If not, she unleashes hell on earth.

The thing I want to ask is if anybody has some good suggestions on how to get the most out of these 5 days? Normally I would just do a bunch of tutorials and go from there but perhaps you guys have better ideas.

For instance, start with this particular tutorial series, check out certainexample maps, start with building a layout and go from there, try remaking something first, etc. Just a general overview of you think would be the best approach.

If nothing comes from it I'll just do a bunch of tutorials and start mapping

TL:DR: What's the most efficient way to learn as much of CS:GO Editing as you can in a week time?

Haha they actually found it in a baby names book. Which is also weird because I've never met another Beck! I guess that name was swiftly removed from that book in following editions

What the fuck, I am not black, what the hell is happening to me. That's fun to look at all the guy who have the same name as yours, I should add them all sometime. Jérémie Nicolas is friend with Jérémie Nicolas and Jéréme Nicolas and Jérémie Nicolas.

Once, I visited the graveyard with my father to pay our respects. We were looking for the right lot when I noticed my father suddenly froze. I asked what's up but no response. Then I saw what he was looking at. His own name, exactly the same, on a tombstone. Freaky shit and true story bro.
