    • GamesRadar - 4/5: Titanfall blends familiar concepts with innovative ideas in remarkable ways, leading to a nearly nonstop supply of awesome moments. But for as fun as it is, you'll likely find yourself wishing Respawn was more ambitious when it comes to game modes, since there's a good chance you've captured enough flags for one lifetime.
    • Xbox Achievements - 90: Nobody can argue with Titanfall's minute-to-minute gameplay. It's a wonderful blend of verticality and brilliantly frenetic combat, and is sure to be the new standard of awesome when it comes to competitive multiplayer shooters. What you can argue with is the package as a whole, which could be described as a little light and lacking in some places. Still, there's a lot to be said for the inherently fun, shooty mech action that Titanfall has to offer.
    • GameSpot - 9: The overarching experience of playing Titanfall is one of rejuvenation and reinvigoration. The sprint speed, the arsenal, the game modes, and more are all firmly derived from some of the most successful online shooters of recent years. But by reinventing the way you move, Titanfall reinvents what it feels like to play a competitive shooter. The high-flying action intertwines beautifully with the brutish, tactical titan battles, creating battlefields that crackle with possibility. Titanfall is a leap forward for shooters, a game that combines the vibrant and new with the tried and true to create something special.
    • VideoGamer - 8: For all its strengths, its reliance on tried and true modes and rigid maps stops Titanfall achieving its full potential. Capture the Flag, Attrition, and Domination are the best gametypes, but none of them show the same invention that's occurring elsewhere in the title, leading to a feeling of natural fatigue. Some of the maps also feel too similar to each other, lacking in distinction, and campaign multiplayer is sadly non-dynamic. A very good first instalment then, but the best is yet to come.
    • Joystiq - 4.5/5: When it's not all a clash of the you-know-whats, when there's a volatile mix of scampering boots and earth-rattling bipeds on the battlefield, Titanfall truly excels. It subsists on imbalance and the race to bear big arms first. It feeds on the fallout that results when equality means the other guy gets a robot too. Titanfall isn't tuned to perfection for everyone yet, but it starts as a smart, swift and startling movement in well-traveled space.
    • GameReactor - 9: A colleague remarked that between the private beta event and the public release, the review event and playing the final retail code, we'd be beginning our XP climb from scratch for the fourth time in a row. Neither of us saw that as a chore. That says a lot.
    • Eurogamer - In fact, Titanfall gets so much right that it's easy to start taking it for granted, as game-changing ideas become second nature so quickly and so easily. There's still room for improvement, most notably in that rather drab line-up of game modes, and in its current form it's perhaps more of a step forward for shooters than a giant leap. But that still represents the most positive momentum seen in the genre for at least five years. Quite simply, if you feel like you're in danger of falling out of love with multiplayer shooters, Titanfall is the game to win you back.
    • PC Gamer - The things you do in Titanfall are likely to be some of the most exciting things you do in any game this year. It is clearly the work of sharp, analytical designers, and it deserves to penetrate the thick layer of cynicism that traditionally surrounds big budget shooters of this type. It's just a shame that this same intelligence and restraint isn't evident in the business culture that surrounds the game. If you choose to invest in Titanfall, make it your mission to track down the stories that emerge when all of its systems come together and sing. They are why this genre became so popular in the first place, and Titanfall is a fine way to rediscover that attraction. Just know what you're being dropped into.
    • Metro - 9/10: It could do with a few more ancillary options, and a more interesting backstory, but in terms of online gameplay Titanfall is now the game to beat this gen.

I hope they do a better job with the sequences. The problem of the original movie is that Marv his sequence is so good that the rest of the movie falls short in comparison. They should have finished with Marv instead of starting with him.

Yeah, I mean, the game was a fucking mess. Just not quite the mess that's been reported.

Expecting measured reactions from the internet is pretty fucking stupid of me though, I'll admit.

Yes, a lot of people jumped on the hate train so not everything is as bad as some people claim. Having said that, the game wasn't working properly after 2 weeks. Me and my friends tried for over a month before selling our origin account or getting refunds. I have one stubborn friend and it started working for him about a month ago. That's 3 months after release.

In short, the brand has most difinitively been damaged.

I don't see that there's a damage issue. I think for us it's making sure that we're providing great gameplay for the consumer and we'll continue to do that."

Arkham City was released in October 2011. Right after they started Arkham Knight. So it's been in development for 3 years by the time it gets released.

Well Blackdog, I'm not a developer but it does sound feasible. Don't forget, the Arkham games were meant to run on 8 year old hardware. I love the games and they sure got everything they could out of the systems. Having said that, just look at the textures and stuff. Really low res and it wasn't that detailed either. So yeah, sounds very probable.

Sprony man hows your state of mind right now. We chin up lad???

Last week, up until Wednesday, I was really down. I felt sorry for myself and I drowned in self pity. Didn't do anything and I didn't post online either except for the sympathy post above (which was fitting). Because when you're that depressed, you're even going to take offense if people don't like stuff or if you don't get enough (good) replies. So all in all I was really like:

    [Blocked Image: http://mashable.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Dr.-Who.gif]

    [Blocked Image: http://www.reactiongifs.us/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/sad_jon_snow.gif]

After all the effort in the world went to waste on scheming sadness turned to this:

    [Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/7kwMBYu.gif]

I knew I had to sing it out until the burial. Luckily and this sounds so wrong, having an closed casket burial made it far less intense. People were of course emotional but I guess it helps if you don't see the person. The day went by quickly and again it sounds so wrong, it was far easier than initially anticipated. Which made feel really relieved.

    [Blocked Image: http://media2.giphy.com/media/qlm4uBz91ZOko/giphy.gif]

This got me out of my depression really quick because that's a dangerous place to be in. Self pity is a killer. I also had a good talk at work, I'm going all in on the only job option that remains. Got a lot of competition though and I don't like to put all my eggs in one basket but unfortunately it's the only basket to put them in. I'm still really positive at work and I grab every opportunity I can to shine. I'm taking charge of others things as well. So I went from depressed to this in a matter of days:

    [Blocked Image: http://25.media.tumblr.com/13d9a143306c86bbf1980ee249d574ab/tumblr_n0xtw67uCg1t0ow0mo1_400.gif]

Now all I can do is wait. It will be black or white. If I don't get the job I can still fall back on lesser things, which will offer no security unfortunately. This will put me in spot where I don't want to be. It's not the end of the world and it's something I'll resolve eventually but it would be a huge set back in terms of money and plans. If I do get the job however, I've got it made.

I'll keep you all posted as things progress. Thank you for your interest and continued support guys!

    HI all,

It's about time I jumped on the CS:GO bandwagon and got a map out into the wild.

Always been a fan of Japan since I played Shenmue years ago so decided to set it in an area of Japan similar to that. It'll be set in a rural town rather than in a city full of neon lights.

I've collected a load of reference images and drawn up an initial plan:

    [Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/8BnHYId.png]

Please excuse my poor drawing skills

Anyway, anything that's red is outside of the play area. Blue lines are routes CT can take to get to the bomb sites, whilst orange shows the routes T can take.

I know it's only a 2D plan, but I'd like any initial feelings/feedback you guys might have looking at it. I'll begin grey boxing Saturday so I can get a better feeling of how it will play and from there arrange some playtests.

I've stuck a few reference images in an imgur album here: http://imgur.com/SPaytWq,qYByRh…nHYId,stSfsMI#0

Cheers guys, shall update soon with a grey box version

    • Rocksteady rethought the entire city structure to accommodate the Batmobile and street traffic
    • Arkham Knight is built on a "juiced up" version of the a custom Unreal Engine to make use of the Xbox One and PS4.
    • By not being cross-gen they've been able to push what the machines can do
    • Rocksteady describe Arkham Knight as "a real, genuine next-gen game"
    • There is no multiplayer in Arkham Knight. Rocksteady is focused on "making the best single-player experience it can" and doesn't feel it needs multiplayer.
"Arkham Knight" is also the name of a new archrival that was created from scratch by DC Entertainment's Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, known for his work on Green Lantern and Justice League.
    • The character will "really challenge Batman to go head to head with him in lots of different ways"
    • Kevin Conroy is going to be voicing Batman, Nolan North will be voicing Penguin, Wally Wingert will be doing Riddler, Tara Strong returns as Harley Quinn and Troy Baker will be Two-Face

    Gameplay

    • Batman begins with his traditional Arkham City suit but gets a darker plated one later in the game. It adds new abilities and has continuity with the look of the Batmobile
    • Arkham Knight is the end "of the later timeline"
    • Game Informer says Rocksteady isn't saying what's next but "it's most definitely not Batman related"
    • The finale has been in mind since the development of Arkham City
    • Arkham Knight takes place in a new central zone of Gotham City, which is split into three island and is in total roughly five times the size of Arkham City
    • Rocksteady is emphasising the detail is more important than the scale of the world. They don't want to create the biggest open-world, they want to create the richest, densest and most vibrant
    • There is more space in between buildings to make the environments "traffic-friendly" and it becomes more fun to glide around
    • Game Informer says the level of details is some of the most impressive its seen
    • Arkham Knight takes place one year after Arkham City
    • Joker is dead and crime rate has declined
    • Batman continues to work on tech to fight crime, even with less of it around
    • He knows something isn't right, but needs to wait to see what happens
    • With the Joker gone, other key villains have spent time coming together to plan Batman's downfall
    • Each villain has his/her own mission in the city and it's intended to spread Batman thin
    • Scarecrow has threatened to blow up bombs in gotham and cover it with a new version of his fear toxin, so the city is ordered to evac
    • Only criminals remain in the city; Gordon and his forces have been overwhelmed
    • In the demo there are between four and five times the number of thugs in Gotham City than in Arkham
    • Riots can feature up to 50 characters destroying things
    • Two-Face and Penguin are killing cops, because they can
    • Batman meets with Gordon and gives him tech to stay in contact
    • All of the game's cutscenes take place in-engine, there are no pre-rendered cinematics. They are seamlessly integrated.
    • Rocksteady is trying to take the level of in-game detail to the pre-rendered level
    • Albert Feliu, lead character artist, says the polygon count on one character in Arkham Knight is as big as the count of the whole Arkham Asylum environment
    • The detail in Gordon's face shows his age and it wrinkles as he talks
    • Apex cloth physics are being used on Batman's cape and Gordon's trench coat so they react properly to wind and movement
    • Although Jim Gordon believes she's gone, his daughter Barbara, a.k.a. Oracle is in the city and helping Batman
    • Oracle is a "strong character" and is a character Batman physically meets as opposed to just a voice he hears
    • She knows Batman's identity and is used to give him a human side
    • Arkhamverse Barbara lines up with comic continuity in that she was paralysed by the Joker
    • Batman knows Barbara is in the city and Jim Gordon believes she is not, the deception may become a plot point
    • A new streamlined control option is used to tell batman to sprint to the nearest ledge and dive straight down
    • Grapnel Gun now has a Mark 2 boost upgrade and slingshots Batman
    • Line launcher returns to give Batman perch points and ziplines can be created instantly while flying around
    • All quickfire gadgets, such as Batarangs, can be used in mid-air
    • The classic counter system also returns. Rocksteady doesn't want to overcomplicate it as it thinks the strength is in the simplicity
    • However, it has enhanced it somewhat with new features
    • Normal goons can now do the charge and tackle only the larger enemies could in previous games
    • A well timed backflip and Batarang can be used to instantly KO enemies doing a charge
    • Batman now has quick ground strikes but full ground takedowns are still available, though they take longer to execute
    • Batman can glide through glass surfaces
    • He has throw counters that grabs enemies and launches them into another for double damage
    • Hazards in the environment such as power generators can be mixed into combat
    • Riddler appears in the demo to put the Batmobile to the test in a three-lap time trial through the underground tunnels of Gotham, but to the only way to make it through is to use a special radar pulse that alters parts of the track
    • Players click the left stick to move obstacles while driving at high speeds and the course gets difficult with every lap
    • Riddler has a plan for Batman and the city too, beyond testing his skills
    • Batman still has detective vision
    • He can access grates from further away, when in range a button prompt appears and he'll roll forward to get under it
    • From a grate it's possible to initiate multiple takedowns, as one enemy is grabbed the action slows and the camera can be pointed in the direction of another enemy.
    • "Fear Takedowns" can be used on groups of three enemies as long as they're close together and none of them spot Batman
    • The demo ends with a mysterious villain describes as a "militaristic Batman" with what looks like an "Arkham A" on his chest appears to land a jump kick on Batman and stomp him. He points a gun at Batman and the screen fades to black as the shot is fired.

    Batmobile

    • Batmobile is designed to be "the best car in any game ever", it takes up around 160mb of memory in game and will just about fit in an Xbox 360 (if that was the whole game). There are hundreds of thousands of polygons, as well as textures and shaders used on it
    • Batmobile is the only car Batman has access to in the game
    • It zooms to your location at the touch of the button
    • It can do burnouts, jumps, boosts and "rotate in a circle at a full stop to get you pointed in the right direction
    • It is bulletproof and can smash through barricades, trees and building corners
    • Enemies will try and jump out of its way
    • Driving gameplay is balanced with out-of-car gameplay so players don't just stay in it all the time
    • While Batmobile has speed and damage Batman has a better freedom of movement and gadgets,
    • Players can swap between the two based on what the job requires
    • Batmobile can missile lock and fire an immobilizer at enemy vehicles
    • Batmobile is designed to segue perfectly with Batman and his navigational skills
    • When within range of a key point Batman can eject out of the Batmobile and launch himself into a fast glide
  • Wolfenstein Returns?
