    Seriously? I switched once to AMD about a decade ago. I didn't like it. I use to build a wide array of machines for a living and I always felt that AMD could out perform Intel in games (before the quad core craze) but never in applications and stuff. What changed? (I'm not trolling btw).

    I've been on the look out for Saturn stuff ever since my Genesis collection is nearing it's completion. I found this online which is a great catch. When I went to collect it a 73 year old man opened the door. He had a little trouble letting it go. He told me it belonged to his son who passed away in a car accident. I thought he was going to cry right there. I asked him if he was sure about the deal and after telling him I'm a avid collector he was assured that it would get a good home.


    Afterwards he showed me his own SNES collection. Apparently, he and his son used to play together and he never stopped. He loves RPG's. He had an entire shelf with limited edition SNES RPG's that I've seen go on Ebay for hundreds of dollars. He even has the Castlevenia limited edition of Symphony of the Night. We talked about games and I left him with some good advice on the value of his stuff. A 73 year old man talking games with a 30 year old. That's what I love about being an gamer. Age, race, gender, sexual preference, religion, etc doesn't matter. We're all connected through our love for games.

    I said the same. But when I had some extra cash to burn I decided to buy a 130 GB SSD bootdisk. It makes your system run like Speedy Gonzales. Seriously, I'm never ever going back to SATA. In time, I'll replace all my disk for SSD ones.

So far I can do a lot of things at the same time, stream full hd to my TV and play games on high/max settings. Gaming (depends on how heavy the game is) and streaming simultaneously can cause problems though. I've run Maya and UDK on this without any problems and I'm using regular 120 mm case fans.


    I'm not into mini pc's. I use to have to build them which causes my dislike. Sorry Blackdog.

    So you could do something like run Crysis3 at 1080p with high and still get a nice 60 fps?


    No, I reused my old card and I already had the case, dvd burner, power supply and extra hard disks. So the 400 something was for the motherboard, CPU, memory and SSD boot disk.


    I haven't played Crysis 3 (it's Origin only) so I cannot say, However, Metro Last Light, Far cry 3, Wolfenstein, Reaper of Souls, etc all run fine on high with a steady frame rate.

    it's incredible how the special effects and matte paintings aged well, and how much the set design influenced later productions... i'd put my hand on the fire in saying that id Software for D3 and Rage got inspired copiously from this one.


    That's because CGI ruined it. There's nothing wrong with using CGI but most of the time it's overused. Like blood bags, it's looks much better but it creates a mess so they do it in CGI. Same goes for lots of other stuff and you just see it's fake. That's why I'm a 80's sucker. Give me practical effects!


    Also, Total Recall will never age because it's a timeless classic!

    In the past, the Core has been there for me. You helped me overcome work, you rooted for me when I my job and you celebrated when I got very close to becoming a freelance game journalist. Now, I need you guys again. It's what Arhurt said when he created this topic, I need motivation and encouragement.


    That's a lot for me to admit and I feel pretty vulnerable right now. Ever since I quit smoking I've steadily been gaining weight. I used to be pumped up, full six pack and everything, but then I had an accident which ruined my knees. I gained a bit off weight after that but nothing major. I went from 83 kilo to 89 kilo. After I got married (4 years ago) I quite smoking. Over the past 4 years I tried several comebacks at the gym, diets, etc but they all failed eventually (lack of discipline). So throughout those years I went up and down and today I peeked at 106,2 kilo. Now I realize I substituted one addiction for another. I need help.


    Normally I would go back to the gym, have another run at it, tell my friends (who probably already think, here we go again) and so on. Today, I decided that this method obviously doesn't work. Instead of immediately trying to run at full speed I should first start with crawling. So no gym memberships and extreme diets. No, I'm going to start with my eating habits. The first step is dropping all the junk food, chocolate, soda's, etc and try to eat more regularly and healthy.


    What do I need the Core for? Well, I want to use this topic (unless you all prefer I split this into a separate topic) to daily post what I've eaten and take it from there. It would be cool if people hunt me down if I don't post, offer insights into what I'm eating and any other suggestions. I'm going to do the same with my friends and my wife. So instead of going all out with everything at once I'm relying on my offline and online environment for much needed help in detoxing from all this crap.

    • Forbes: No score - Aiden Pearce is just a character meant to sell cool looking hats in collector's editions. Perhaps that can be rectified in a sequel, but for now, Pearce is pretty big issue, and so is his propensity to kill people in boring, cover-based shooter-y ways.

    I'm more interested in a third Metro game... there's still so much to see in Moscow...


    I see it becoming a trend for publishers to quickly polish some existing stuff and porting it to the new consoles for easy money. That being said, I really loved the first Metro visually but got frustrated with the AI and stealth mechanics. I bought LL in the latest Steam sale, played a bit and didn't pick it up again (not the game's fault). It looks like they are putting a lot of effort into this pack and if it fixes the first, I would love to play both on the PS4. The additions do sound really good especially the survival mode.
