So how playable is this UT at the moment? Is it easy to playtest these levels? I don't have a great deal of experience in LD and haven't played Unreal in years (I was more of a Half-life fan!) but it sounds like good fun and something I'd like to get involved in.

That's it. Pogo is banned from this.

Picked up my preorder of Destiny this morning. Normally I purchase games online so I forgot how funny it could be to actually go get it yourself. Not that it's the store's or even the clerk's fault but it's difficult not to laugh. So I come in, there's like a 17 year old behind the counter. I tell him I'm there to pick up my copy of Destiny. First he has trouble knowing what a preorder is, then he couldn't find my copy nor could he spell my name which really isn't difficult. Eventually I told him to forget my 'reservation' and just give one of the other copies lying around. But no, he was determined to find it. So he goes to the back and comes out 10 minutes later with my copy. Now the fun really starts: "Sir, are you aware that this game requires you to have an internet connection?", "Sir, are you also aware that you need an PSN account in order to play?", etc. Yes kid, I know these things and I put on a friendly smile trying not to laugh. Because inside I was like, I know that I'm getting older but just remember, I was already playing games when you were still in diapers

I think it's superior in every way, they implemented all the mods people were using back in the Q3 days in one nice and neat package. Play QL for a bit then try to go back to Q3, you can't.

I want to play with you guys instead of debating which is better. However, I can and do reguraly go back. For easy MP and better visuals I use QL. But for hardcore play and a ton of content I play vanilla

In my humble opinion I think it's a perfectly executed scene which demonstrates a lot of skill. However, I think it suffers from a color issue. It's one of those you either love it or hate it kinda things. Adding props ain't going to fix that. So I would either stick with it or, if I felt inclined to cater the masses, I would drop the whole brown look and add some stronger colors like white/red, white/grey, etc. It would drastically change the scene's appearance but you would also lose it's original vision.

    Illustration for color suggestion:

So I've been thinking a bit.

Let's say we remove the whole Pool stage and have an FFA-qualifer where the top 6-8 players will meet eachother in Elimination or Double-Elimination duels?

Nice to see so many people interested!

Yes, but with the original game settings and not this load out bullshit that completely ruins the experience (I've played several matches and it really kills the game). Nothing wrong with the noob friendliness but now there's no reason to pick up new weapons or move around. I actually encountered campers yesterday. Seriously, campers in Quake????

As promised I would get back to this.

First off, one of the best Kickstarter setups I've seen. Hands down. Everything is well presented and carefully thought out. Sjonsson, take a note of this.

Secondly, I love the atmosphere and the visual appearance of the game. The sound effect are also very well done.

However, this is not my kind of thing and I'll doubt I'll buy it. However, I can appreciate the fact that they tend to innovate and I hope they reach an audience. Not much else to say really

It is but it does look prettier and it's much easier to play with each other. You can't expect everyone to buy or reinstall vanilla, have someone setup a server, etc.

Move to a foreign country where you don't speak the language and just nod when people talk to you.

Seriously though, having a kid makes you hate the world. One woman once grabbed my kid's leg sticking out of the baby carrier to check if he wasn't cold with a look of "you don't know what you're doing'. Family is the worst though especially those that think that putting a kid in the car outside when he screams is a valid way of letting him "exercise" his lungs

I now tend to avoid all parenting topics except with my wife, as even other parents will either judge you or feel judged when you mention your way of doing things.

Actually the best way we found to fight this is to educate our kid to not let other people give him shit just cause they are adults. Now when we have visitors and they want him to do something or behave this or that way because they thuink that's how children should, he politely shuts them off and we internally smile. "No grandma, if that's how you want to play, you can take these toys and play, and I will play like I want to with those".

But yeah, fuck those people, hold strong against them and do not back down and eventually family members (at least from my experience) give up on trying to be know-it-alls. Remember too that they often see you do something and feel awkward for not having done that themselves, it's like a constant challenge to the way they did it, and it's even worse if it's a topic with a right and wrong (not just preferences and opinions) as it questions their old methods and few people can handle that elegantly.

Now that's some solid advice. I'm going to try and apply that.

If the baby is screaming and someone speaks up as to why, hand them the baby and ask them to please handle it, since they obviously have a good grasp of what is wrong and how to fix it.

Its a pretty passive agressive move, but it gets the job done

I like this attitude, I'm going to apply that as well.

First off, I pinned this. Secondly, I was hoping for FFA because I suck at Duel

However, l'm down for anything. The above does seem too complicated, especially considering the different time zones. But let's hear what the others have to say first.

We used to have a competition every Sunday. We picked a time which was doable for everyone (some had to play in the morning, others in the afternoon, etc). Then we had a map selection and we played for an hour or so taking screens of the results after each match to determine the overall winner. Just a thought.

This is aimed at the Mapcore dads.

When you become a parent people tend to give you a lot of advice. Which is a good thing, because it's new and you need to learn a lot. So I have no problem with getting advice. I do have a problem with people becoming judgmental. My father and my in laws are all of a sudden starting to criticize everything. When the baby cries, it because we haven't fed her enough. If she sneezes, that means she's sick and we're not taking care of her. By now you get the point, the list goes on indefinitely. I've talked to other parents and they have the same experiences. I'm wondering if any of you recognize this? In other words, is this universally so?

Of course I'm not taking this shit and I call them out on everything they say. But they simply will not listen to reason. For instance, I explained that we are feeding the baby on a schedule because we are trying to prepare her for solid food (meaning less feeding moments a day). Having a rhythm is also important for the child so that she learns when it's day and when it's night, when to sleep and when to be awake, etc. Plus, it keeps you sane. This works brilliantly and of course there are off days when she wants to eat more and then we oblige. Every parenting book preaches this principle. But oh no, they will not listen to this reasoning. Feeding her too much, dressing her to warm, etc. It has come to a point that I don't want my child to be there. And it's not just parents. It's even acquaintances or people outside. Like in the supermarket someone said, babies need to have a hat on. Listen bitch, it's 30 degrees outside I'm not going to put a hat on. What is it with these people that they feel entitled to completely judge us on a single thing. My dad said I hold my child too much because in the two times he visited (roughly an hour in total) she was crying and I was comforting here. WTF?

I could use some solid advice on how to handle this because it will not be much longer before I knock someone the fuck out.

Sorry for the swearing but damn, I'm so fed up with this bullshit. Also for the record, I'm not so arrogant as to think we're not making mistakes. Of course we are. If people point those out to me, I really appreciate it. But the examples above are not mistakes!
