I feel like a moron, I cant seem to find the editor. Can someone help me out?

    Update the game.

    Open it.

At the Main Menu, choose the Community Test Chambers (I believe it is the third button).

    Click on Create Test Chambers

    Have fun

I'm receiving some interesting feedbacks on my map (thanks, Youme) and I decided to make that one an entry for the Challenge (and create more maps later):

    Play Competurn:

Feel free to give any feedbacks, right here or at the map page.

Here is the first one created in PeTI, "Competurn":

    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... d=68497033

    Feedbacks, please!

And I will probably create lots and lots more test chambers until the last day of submission to the contest. So, I don't know if this one will be one of my officials. Let's see.

I just created my first one, though I haven't decided if this will be one of my three submissions.

If I make the map public and continue iterating on it, will it still be eligible for the Challenge?

And should I use a special MapCore prefix/ sulfix in the chamber's name?

How do you guys generally use that drug..? I mean, SketchUp?

Just to quickly prototype an environment and get a better feel of its flow and how it "plays"?

Or you simply jump to the 3D creation software of your choice where you have more freedom to create shapes?

Bonus question: do you see PeTI stealing some part of your process?

I'll say it again: I love you.

Men, this is going to fucking rule, I mean it.

This will mean a lot to me.

    Reasons:

    • The first real challenge I participate!

    • This is for Portal 2, a game I love and appreciate.

    • The tool allowed is one that I'm eager to put my hands on.

    • And, the best part: the other competitors are fucking godlike. I have no chance of wining. But I'll try my best to prove that I'm wrong. Battling with fellow MapCore geniuses... this is going to be a honor to me.

    [/gayMode off]

I can't wait to see what you guys can come up with!

Yeah it compiles it but his test chamber is ultra small and the bulk of the interest in his lighting is from the projected texture so it's not surprising it only takes a few seconds.Didn't it rebuild the map when it was being published? That's probably a final compile with the others being fast or 'normal'.

    That'd make sense.

I was able to play with this quite extensively... its extremely impressive, how intuitive they implemented it and easy it is to use. we're using their implementation of steam workshop for how we're going to implement it in nexuiz... not the level editor tho of course

    Wow!

If I may ask, how did you have access to that?

And in PeTI, is it possible to change materials/ prototype puzzles of different themes, like the Old Aperture/ Underground?

And good luck with the steam workshop thing!

I'm wondering if I should unlink the video. It doesn't seem right, you know?

    Or am I overreacting? lol

Yeah! Everything Youme said seems right.

I think I know which video you are talking about.

I updated the blog post with the video in it.

Do you guys remember that news about a simplified Level Editor for Portal 2?

VALVe announced these days that it will be released on May 8th.

And, today, they released a video about it.

I posted about PeTI (<- haha) here, where you can read for your delight and watch the awesome infographic video, created by Richard Lord.

Imagine level designing without putting your hands in the ancient Hammer? The new editor is an isometric, user-friendly place where you will invest all the hours you have left to sleep. Seems promising.

It's Unity. I like the Source lightmapper a lot better than Beast, and wish there were some simple BSP tools in Unity, but it's otherwise a pretty amazing toolset. (You don't have to spend an hour to import models, for instance.)

you mean csg tools? i've been looking for those as well...

There's a really old thread in the Unity Forums about a user creating a "BSP Tool + Lightmapping" for Unity.

I was excited with that, but apparently that is frozen in time and may never see the light of day.

What do you guys think about this user response for using BSP nowadays? Especially in Unity, where the integration of static meshes and stuff from dedicated 3D creation tools is really smooth.
