I agree, and it's not unique to Diablo3. Loads of games do this a lot, Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, etc. It's such a fucking easy fix to! If played = don't repeat for x time.

Agreed. It shouldn't be like the NPC always had something to say to me.

I already talked to him for hundreds of times. I already sold my items for him for hundreds of times. I know him, he knows me. He shouldn't open his mouth on every single interaction.

I'm having issues trying to play other test chambers, too. If that doesn't get fixed in the next few hours, I'll extend the deadline to tomorrow night.

    Thank you!

I searched for this error, and apparently this is caused by some malfunctioning in steam servers/ connection.

I'm trying to validate the game cache and see if that works. I'll keep trying to publish it.

Btw, how many hours are left for the current deadline? 5h30?

I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive but you can manually invest your points with the Elective mode as far as I know.

The Elective Mode is to enable manually changing skill position in the skill bar.

Aren't the maps stored locally somehow in any case?If I worked with this tool I would definitely look into a bulletproof backup option. You just never know...

Check the directory "\steamapps\common\portal 2\sdk_content\maps" for the "preview" files generated by the editor:

(you can open them in Hammer)

I don't know if it only generates for the latest opened file, or if it really does for all your workshop maps.

I thought the gels weren't even added until old-style aperture? I haven't played it in over 6 months though so my memory may be faulty.

I think they were introduced there. But I can't remember seeing gels + excursion funnels in that Theme (at least in the single player campaign)

It's all about taste, and I also believe that we shouldn't mix every puzzle elements in a single chamber. Simplicity rules it all, and Portal is a simple game.

I am one of those who usually value more something that can be amazing, while using as few elements as possible.

To be honest, I think that mixing everything would hurt the concept of a "theme" in the game's storyline, because you don't see certain elements in certain chambers.

For example, as far as I remember, we don't see excursion funnels mixed with gels in the Old/ Underground Aperture test chambers.

About the need of new puzzle elements to make the sequel stand out, you can read more about it in the Portal 2 - The Final Hours app (recommended).

    Neat!

    Questions:

    • Do we need to also add the link to the forum topic of the Challenge?

    • Will there be a "winner" in this challenge?

I think that grouping our maps into a single Collection is a great way to make ourselves immortal mapping Gods and ease the process of downloading/ subscribing the chambers.

i dont know, right now it really feels like creating levels for portal 2 is much less about portals and much more about funnels and gel and shit. it's just not the same, and it makes the portals feel gimmicky.

Well, Portal 2 needed some new puzzle elements to make an impact after the huge success of the first game. Gels of different properties (a mechanic brought after the student game "Tag: the power of paint"), funnels and others were designed to that purpose.

In fact, they diminish a little the importance of using portals, as the player has a lot more tools to play with. But, it's fair to consider that a good chamber will demand thinking with portals.

Went and reworked my first chamber into something more sensible. Then I put it into a collection: http://statcounter.com/project/standard ... id=5938497

What's this stat counter thing? I couldn't access your collection.
