My portfolio has been updated! (resume as well)
Improved the layout, added a new game and removed clutter. With less sections, I could move the menu higher up, making it easier and faster to see the projects. I believe my portfolio has become more relevant with this update ![]()
Added Monaco.
EDIT: forgot one of the most important things: including the first game I was credited for contributing!
It could all be just trolling :]
For round 2, please twitch it/ record it! It should be fun to watch you guys on a heist ;d
Great thread.
I can recall many moments when I had a test on the following day and did a life hack to "solidify" what I had studied. It always worked: when I was lying on the bed with my eyes closed, I thought about the test's topic and tried to summarize everything on my mind. I noticed that on the next morning I could remember most of that ![]()
Ah, magically coming up with design/ programming solutions after a good night of sleep is awesome indeed.
In my case, I prefer to work on my personal projects during the night because my performance improves significantly. There's simply too many distractions during the day. When I work on my projects at between 11pm- 6am~, there isn't any phone ringing, people calling you to talk nonsense, no sound of TV, no deliveries to be received etc. I can focus a lot more that way.
Quote from MarcemAfter watching five minutes of the first CSS mapping tutorial on youtube, I'm finally ready to announce a new map the CS community can truly get excited about. Move aside, operation payback! This is all the CS community will ever need! Remember how much Dust revolutionized CS mapping? Here we go again.

now how do I make water? That's all I need to realize my vision.
Very, very good. For making water, follow the steps that a game industry veteran once told me after learning the technique throughout his career:
1. Buy ice.
2. Let it melt.
Quote from SpronyvanJohnsonI've been working my ass of on this night scene. It's kinda dark though. Feedback appreciated.

Care to share your workflow on your next Mapcore article? The community would certainly benefit from that!
Quote from Ginger LordUnfortunately I think if you are outside the EU then the companies sponsoring options are extremely limited for some reason.
Thanks for the extra motivation, guys! ![]()
Ginger, I'm outside the EU. I'm from Brazil. But I'm willing to move away from here! I mean, relocating to work at Crytek would be more than a requirement for me. It'd be a pleasure ![]()
I'll do some updates on my CV and portfolio to include my latest works (being credited as Beta VIP on the game Monaco and currently developing the game Grasp, making clear that I'm currently involved in a game dev project). I had planned to update those after completing my game, but I should at least try to apply as a Designer at Crytek UK!
I hope The Almighty Hurg helps me with that ![]()
I really want to apply for that position (Designer) mentioned by Ginger Lord, but I'm a little uncertain about that aspect. I have a Bachelor degree in Game Design, so I believe that should ease any process (of getting work permit).
QuotePlease note we are unable to employ anyone who does not have the legal right to live and work in the UK. Due to the Coalition Government's interim immigration limits Crytek UK Ltd’s ability to sponsor employees under Tier 2 (General) of the Points Based System is very limited. Candidates from outside the EEA are therefore encouraged to explore immigration routes which will allow them to work in the UK without such sponsorship.
In the recruitment process all candidates are required to provide the necessary right to work information and documentation.
What should I do? ![]()
Is it only me or the number 3 appears twice on that screenshot?
3!
You know what that means.
ok, I'll stop with the conspiracy xddddddd

Is there a reason why you guys used Unreal2.5 instead of Unreal3?
can't watch that ![]()
quoting showed me this link:
I loved they added the silencers back! But it seems to be different from the former versions of the game. From what I read, it's not the colt with a silencer that can be attached, but a whole new weapon: cheaper, fewer bullets in the mag, less recoil and better accuracy. I need to test that.
Also, the StatTrack is a great idea! Being able to brag about how many enemies you killed right on your weapon model is very cool, especially considering that we'd be able to inspect the weapon in-game.
It's good to see that VALVe is applying successful mechanics from their other games: item drop/ chest/ keys, unique weapons, steam workshop for the items, increasing the prize pool of eSports with purchases of the eSports chest etc.
a-maze-in.
Quote from Ginger LordYes you would be required to relocate and have the appropriate permissions to work in the country.
Oh, thank you for the reply!
A few questions:
I believed the game studios helped with that after they hired you. I mean, is it possible to get the work permit without a job?
I never worked outside my country, but I'm looking forward to it.
Thank you
Those last two links gave me a boner

Programmer
Designer <<< Potentially for those with no formal industry experience
Experienced Designer
QA Testers
John, that's very interesting, thank you for sharing.
Is the Designer position still available for those that live in another country and are willing to relocate?
This person for instance worked professionally as a Game Designer for serious games but always focused on entertainment, and is also developing a game by himself ![]()
Quote from TaylorYeah, only the original can go through the portals. I was thinking about making the gates look different through the clone cameras but that might be even more confusing!
Maybe that would be understandable if you added that mechanic on later levels, after the player had already grasped the basics ![]()
