Playing Donkey Kong. The game is too difficult for me and the motion controls aren't making it any easier. It's a shame they sacrificed precision for motion controls when it doesn't really add to the experience. The game looks amazing and has some extremely clever stages, despite the difficulty spikes and a few repetitious boss fights. I'm probably not going to finish it...

Looks cool, but too many planets (at least for one screenshot/angle). I would get rid of two of them. Edit: Actually, I would consider removing all of them, as the planets takes all the attention away from what makes the picture look good.

Trolls are awesome. I pay so little attention to Norwegian films I had no idea about this movie. Looks fun, think I'll go see it this weekend.

God of War 3 is pretty awesome, at least for the first 4-5 hours.

I just finished Kirby's Epic Yarn and it's one of the best games I've played this year. I'm trying to figure out whether I should start Castlevania or give Enslaved another chance (every time I play it I just lose interest after 15 minutes). Maybe I should finish Amnesia or give Planescape: Torment a chance to see what it's about. I hate playing several games at a time

I'm thinking more of Oblivion and Morrowind, where I only went in the open world if I couldn't help it and mainly spent my time there jumping forward to level up skills.

I disagree completely. Morrowind had fantastic open world content that was varied in both theme and landscape. I remember the sense of adventure this game would give me. I would stock up potions and items before I decided to travel across the map and follow whatever path it led me. The feeling I got from it was unlike any other game. I didn't bother with the quests until much later. As for Oblivion, on the other hand, I agree.

Projects. I don't see why any employer would be interested in what the blog says, at least not until they've seen the projects page. Besides, you would want to show them that projects page right away considering the quality content you have there.

How does diplomacy work in this game? There are times when I have 3 Giant Death Robots (or something) outside someone's last remaining capital when they ask for peace. I ask for a few gold extra so I have a reason to let them be, at which point they always decline and I end up destroying the capital. I've never successfully used diplomacy to do anything in my favor.

Castlevania: lords of shadow. pretty fun so far, good pacing and variation. just hoping it lasts (which is usually not the case for these kind of games).

    Positives

    • * Responsive and comfortable controls.
      * Exploring the island was fun.
      * The environments and the level design was varied and fun. I love the fresh, colorful graphics.
      * If this game gets made I will buy it.

    Negatives (nitpicking mostly i guess)

    • * Enemies hit faster than I'm able to block. They also seem to be blocking when you're hitting them from behind (?).
      * Some of the NPCs could have said something more interesting than "I'm busy".
      * Since it's a prototype it's obvious there's no voice acting, however i can't help but think something like

would be awesome and doable. (ok, maybe not burping, but some sort of audio feedback).
    * I feel like the grappling hook should have been a reward for something, it felt too generous of the game to give it right away.
    * Since it's possible to edit the input this is probably not very valid criticism, but I didn't like having slash attack on X so that I can't move the camera while using the sword. I'm guessing maybe lock-on or semi-auto movement would be in a retail version.
    * I didn't see the two wheels in front of the treasure chamber.
    * At the volcanic island where you call your ship; I thought I was going to call it again at the platform before the two grappling hook-balloons. The distance looked like it was supposed to be covered by my ship. What is your target audience by the way? The game definitely has potential for younger audiences (the grappling hook-chains part might have been a bit too hard), even better if you could customize your ship (which I guess you have probably planned for). I love platformers, there's too few of them these days.

I have refrained from playing my copy of shadow of the colossus since I first heard the HD remake rumor.

What kind of world is this set in? Is Ico, SOTC and Guardian set in the same world? The environments look very similar. And isn't the last guardian essentially Ico with a chimaera instead of a girl? I haven't played any of these games yet, so I have absolutely no idea about this. Looking forward to the HD remake, I've heard nothing but praise for these games since they were released.

The game takes place in the sanctuary, a world of dark fantasy. The two character classes shown off during today’s announcement of Diablo III is a mixture of old and new, representing the formula that the Blizzard development team seems to be aiming for with the latest installment in its blockbuster action game series

I just finished it too. I agree with everything in the above post. There was also some unnecessarily dull/boring missions that took up a lot of the game time just to push the story, especially driving and melee combat. Chapter 14 gave me chills, even though I saw it coming as soon as I heard the music on the radio.

Everytime I watch those films they leave a long lasting impression on me for weeks where it takes me a while to feel my normal self again. Am I making sense here?

I feel like this very often with films. I wish video games would give me the same feeling more often.

The last time I can remember feeling like this was when I played Limbo, both at the ending and during a part where I had to kill the large spider. For some reason I felt a bizarre sense of sadness when I had to "kill" it. It was heart-wrenching to remove its leg and then roll its body into the water pit. I had probably died (gruesomely) 3-4 times to the spider prior to that and it had done nothing but chase me down to kill me the entire game. It was just sad to see how helpless it was. I can't really make sense of the feeling or why I felt that way.

Also when I finished MGS4, which is strange because I don't really like the game that much in retrospect. Demon's Souls also made a lasting impression on me. I think that was just the catharsis of everything I had gone through to finish it.

edit: forgot about mafia 1 and super metroid
