fair enough, i'll agree that my 'correction' doesn't hold water either. my intention was first and foremost to demonstrate why the analogy was wrong (because it would be misinterpreting what this frustration is about) .

convenience is underrated. i've lost count on how many times i've refrained from buying something because it wasn't on steam or because of some other cancerous shitware (windows live games) that made it difficult to enjoy the product. add DRM on top of that and you're probably losing thousands of customers to piracy, which you could have avoided to some extent. people are lazy and you can use that to your advantage.
i understand that they need a game (with a large audience) to move consumers towards their own platform, but i don't think it's a good idea using BF3 for this. don't they have enough with just competing against mw3? why not just create incentives to use origin (cheaper, dlc availability, origin integration, whatever) instead of telling all your steam customers to go fuck themselves?
Quote from GloglebagThe analogy is not wrong
if warner bros had their own exclusive theatres or some warner-specific device to play their movies then your analogy would be correct. whether warner bros or some other company publishes a movie doesn't affect me in any way. this is about convenience.

haven't laughed this much since portal 2. the gameplay is only decent, but the game is carried by the writing, art and audio (theExternal Content www.youtube.comContent embedded from external sources will not be displayed without your consent.Through the activation of external content, you agree that personal data may be transferred to third party platforms. you... go around flowers, collecting petals. with each petal, the size of your entity (wind of petals or whatever it is) increases with more petals. this is exactly the same thing that happens in snake; you "eat" "food" and get a larger tail. that they added exploration and other such features has no effect on the core gameplay, even if it does have an effect on the player experience.
that comparison is such a stretch. how are these games anything alike gameplay-wise? does the tail in flower affect the gameplay in any way? (unlike snake)
although i enjoyed flower, i agree that this video was pretty boring. that's not necessarily because the game is bad, but rather that the game doesn't really translate well to video previews.

yes, and i think it's great if they're doing that. it's just the tone of their reaction that feels very awkward considering they've had these problems themselves.

Isn't this a bit hypocritical coming from Rockstar after the RDR-drama last year?

Started playing Final Fantasy 9 in an attempt to clear some RPGs from my backlog. After about 15 hours in I decided to quit and start Chrono Trigger instead (another RPG I had heard endless praise about). The gameplay pacing/progression in FF9 was just unbearable for me. Even after 15 hours it still felt like I was just doing the same thing without actually having learned anything. There were several things I enjoyed in ff9, like the atmosphere, world design, characters and not just the individual development but also how they related to each other. Still, the game felt so crippled by the pacing I simply couldn't tolerate it any longer. It reminded me of how I'm able to enjoy mediocre Star Wars-books just because I have an insatiable appetite for star wars lore, while everyone else would probably get sick of it.
Chrono Trigger, on the other hand, I simply could not put down. The combat system is one of the best I've seen in a RPG. The depth of the strategic and tactical opportunities you're given made me cherish every single battle in the game. If there was a FF9:CT fun-ratio for these playthroughs then CT would dominate completely. I know Chrono Trigger is considered by many as one of the best RPGs, but what bothers me is not how much better Chrono Trigger was, but how shitty final fantasy 9 felt. I really wanted to like it.
Quote"final fantasy gets better x hours in". i'm not going to invest tens of hours before I can get to the fun part, then I might as well play world of warcraft.

i think it's especially impressive how approachable this game is. this is actually a game where you could hand the controller to a non-gamer/casual-gamer and they wouldn't get frustrated and give up. the controls still have issues, but the way you interact with the game is really thought-out and simple. the industry needs more games like this.

if those are the tutorials I think they are, you could get them here as well (if filefront is shit, which I suspect it to be); http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/VideoTutorials.html
that series helped me a lot when starting udk.

Exploration/horror game with a scandinavian foklore-theme. Set during the christianization of (fictionalized) scandinavia with the nature "revolting" against it (religion is not the theme, just the premise).
Environments like these: forest, shores, swamp, fog, river, landscape, moonlight, colorsm sunrise and more forest.
humanoids&creatures you would meet: draug, troll, nixie, huge troll, another one.
as for music, i find
incredibly well made and creative. it conveys the atmosphere perfectly.why: scandinavian nature (and the folklore) is oppressive, gloomy, harsh, dangerous and beautiful and I think these qualities would empower a exploration/horror-based game. there are also other themes in the folklore that translates well to this kind of gameplay, such as unconventional thinking and exploration.External Content www.youtube.comContent embedded from external sources will not be displayed without your consent.Through the activation of external content, you agree that personal data may be transferred to third party platforms. I'm fine with a seven hour campaign, all I want is a campaign that isn't 80% shock and awe set pieces that are the same each play through. Give me a game that lets me stretch out that 7 hours so I'm not just watching the same thing over again.
whatever you do; don't buy this game.

very stylish, though the dialogue and everything else is on par with what you expect of a wow raid dungeon.
