Goddamn. The amount of times I've unloaded an entire clip into someone 5ft away only to die with 94 damage given in 3 hits is ridiculous. All in all, I find the weapon spread really weird some times. And is it me, or does crouching make the spread even worse?

Tbh spread should be a non-issue. You either aim for the head or you can go home.

Stand-offs barely depends on weapons (ok.. sometimes), mostly it's about who's got the better aim.

If you're aiming for the body you're doing it wrong.

    It only takes 1 shot...

Ok whatever, you know what I'm getting at.

That being said, if you got premium check it out on battlelog instead. You can download it in pretty awesome quality (225mb)

    2) I'm finding it very difficult to distinguish between the CT and T models in a lot of situations.

    Agreed.

Hard to distinguish and the color coding is weird as well. I could've sworn I saw a blue terrorist 8|

Made the horrible mistake and only tried the new modes in the beta, really didn't care for it at all. However everything I'm hearing about the regular cs_ and de_ stuff sounds like its good stuff. I'm totally up for joining in on a Core session~~just like old times (¦)~~

Wait, hold on... There's new stuff?

Only been playing stuff I'm used to, it's good to be back

I was expecting them to be higher, but somewhat distorted because of the different currencies...

    Might be obvious but:

Right-click on that sound icon in the tray in the bottom right corner, playback devices.

Then choose (set default, apply) AMD HDMI output for stuff that goes to your TV, or speakers for your PC.

Hope that helps? I had to do this all the time with my laptop at home, for some reason it didn't detect what output I was using...

So I applied at multiple game studios about 2 days ago. I still haven't heard back from of course. I'm wondering how long does it usually take for them to schedule an interview or send back an emailif they were interested in what they saw? This is my first time applying for a job anywhere so I'm kinda nervous.

Expect word back in 1 week, 2 perhaps. There's a couple companies that are slower, 3-4 weeks... but those are somewhat rare.

That's for the initial contact, then there's gonna be some back and forth mailing or phone calls for an interview, tests...

I've never gotten a return later than that, if you don't get anything back then they're not interested or you fell through the cracks.

It's not uncommon to get a reply back that they liked what they saw but there's not an available position atm.

    Good luck!

Just out of curiosity... (#multiple game studios), how much are we talking about?

But it would be pretty rare for a financially unsuccessful new IP to get the green light on a sequel... right?

Prototype got a sequel and now Radical Entertainment is no more (or at least the Prototype franchise, they have some supporting staff left working on other Activision games from what I've heard).

So it does happen But there's some success stories as well off course.

    Quote from Marvin.Star

Well, I can't blame anyone for wanting to have a reasonably stable job, and we all appreciate your making Battlefield games instead of flip-flops I'm sure. Its unfortunate that people aren't able/ willing to buy more new IPs, but I understand that reasonably well; I don't have a lot of money to spend on games - yet. Perhaps that is partially why I don't like yearly models, by the time the new one comes out I can probably only grab one full priced title for the next while and why would I want the exact same thing I already have?

Yup I can relate to that actually. It's not really a shocker that so many new IP´s don't kick off, it is a leap in the dark after all...

I don't really understand the appeal of yearly iterations either, like CoD, fifa, etc... But hey, seems like enough people like it Well, at least BF won't join em.

    Quote from onji

People can come up with statistics to prove anything Rick, 14% of all people know that.

What's that supposed to mean? Either 13mil people were cheated into buying BF3 or it's a good game. I'd like to think it's the latter.

    Quote from Marvin.Star

I think its fair to say we all know BF3 is a well liked game. The question is: Should they make a sequel so soon, why not make something different?

The next bit does not reflect DICE's standpoint on this and is merely my point of view and even speculation:

Because that's a good way to get bankrupt. New IP´s are rarely a financial success in the first iteration and a huge risk as a result.

People need to stop thinking this is charity, there's 200+ people that are dependent on the success of a game. We can't just make the gamers happy by making something original that doesn't sell, games are expensive to make.

The BF3 team is huge as well, you can't just drop that whole team on a new project... that's a huge cost and a heavy burden on the new game (yup, it'll need to sell to make up for that).

You could lay off half the team to try something new...

Then again, there's always a point where greed kicks in. Was the new game not selling... or not selling "enough". I don't have any financial results though.

Some games have huge sales but little profit cos of a ridiculous cost, it's hard to say. And then you have the investors, they like you to play it safe. If you announce a new IP instead of BF4 for instance they they're gonna get nervous.

Stock drops, and that's not good for your publisher who in turn gives you the money to make the next game.

It sucks but there's no way around it, no money = no games. People working in the industry love making and playing games but that doesn't mean you can get around it. It's still a business, sadly.

In the end, studios make games that sell so they can make the next one.

Unless you gain the money from something else, for instance Steam, then you don't need to worry about anything cos you have a cashcow and you can just focus on what matters, making good games.

Thank god we're making games rather than flip-flops though.

In other news, I'm pissed off at marketing for always causing confusion
