AFAIK it was always marketed as Resident Evil in Europe? 8| Never heard of Biohazard tbh.

    This looks really interesting!

I'm on a fucking shopping spree lol xD Guess this is it for a while though, pockets are starting to bleed... I'll just pretend it's an early Christmas, don't think I'll need more for while. But damn, buying stuff feels good

Haven't bought much games in the last year... Spending too much time on "timesink" games like League of Legends.

Thought I'd quit and get some games I've always wanted now they're cheap!

    - Red dead redemption GOTY

    - Batman Arkham City GOTY

    - Dark Souls prepare to die edition

    - Ico & Shadow of the colossus bundle

    - Enslaved

    - Soul Calibur 5

    - Final Fantasy XIII-2

And I want many many more There just isn't enough time pfff, Halo 4, Assassins Creed 3... And a shitload of stuff in my steam library as well. /First world problems.

Chick was hot though... and FPSRussia.. lmao.

I like FPSRussia, he's as close to the real deal as it gets. He's practically Russian. Flawless accent as well.

I bet he's as hardcore as you are D3ads!

OT: I like the trailer, they do call of duty best. But I still want to be able to dual wield rifles, definitely sniper rifles. I want the second scope to be on my iPad. Yeah1!11! Perhaps they'll do this for the WiiU version? Oh boy oh boy!

Time for a revival instead of creating a new thread I'd say.

I used to have a Razer Deathadder, best mouse I've ever had. Only issue was build quality, dust accumulated inside it and caused it to double click. After a year of use it became unbearable and unfixable... So I had to part with it.

Then I bought a Roccat Kone+. For the longest time I convinced myself there's something wrong with me but I kept swearing the mouse has acceleration issues. Finally looked it up and the internetz seems to agree. Apparently something to do with the laser sensor being used causing positive acceleration. Not a big issue according to some but god damn, I DO notice it. Definitely when playing CS:GO. At work I have a shitty optical mouse and I swear it's more accurate.

So here I am... Any mice out there that I should look into? I'm thinking of switching brands again and going for a Steelseries, probably optical as well. I loved the Ikari back in the day and now there's new ones out there, but those seem to use the same laser sensor and apparently have the same acceleration issues. So what do you guys recommend?

Kind of surprised it's not next gen. I wasn't really following this at all though so perhaps that was known already.

But yeah... seemed like a good launch title. 30 FPS console, we meet again!

Currently playing it myself. Funny you should mention preferring the first one for some reason. I agree on all your points but I too have that feeling and really don't know why.

Cos less is more? When you add too much stuff it becomes unfocused. I have only played a bit of AC though and not the first one but I assume that's why? At least that's a common flaw with games that add stuff for the sake of adding stuff. They also pushed all the unlockables/riddles in my face from the start of the game (which I've heard is not the way it way in the first game?), the game becomes so cluttered and distracting that way. Breaks immersion and pushes me outside the game. Still very top notch game though! I should get back to it after I'm (finally) done with Skyrim.

We did one donation drive roughly a year ago which was designed to fund the site for a year, which thus far has gone into the new software and hosting costs (and is more or less depleted at this point). Prior to that it just came out my pocket. This seemed to work really well rather than just having a permanent donation button up and the donations received have been invaluable.

Then put the donation up again now man! I'm sure there's plenty of people that want to donate (like last year). No need to wait for 2013!

Idea: Every time funds are depleted just put a banner on top of mapcore, simple as that. I'm sure there'd be money in no time!

You are both right I agree putting your art in a engine can help show what you know thats why I put links to demos of my unity games on my site but I also think that whatever you make should look really good without an engine. mixed feelings

Not saying you understood me wrong but just gonna clarify to make sure there's no misunderstandings. I didn't mean to just put a prop in an engine and call it a day to show your pipeline knowledge for that engine (albeit a nice skill to display!). I meant having a full environment that potentially is a game level environment. Both show different skills, one is technical, showing you know the pipeline. The second is practical in nature, you show you have the artistic skill to build a scene, potentially based of some level design. Basically you can be a level artist and not just a prop artist.

In regards of showing stuff outside an engine. Do you just mean in the purist kind of way? So you're not "cheating" by making your work look better with awesome shaders and whatnot? I used to feel reluctant to do this (when I was still doing models) cos it felt like foul play but honestly... in the end it's the end product that matters, and we're making games... Therefore showing it in-game should always come first. Not saying it's worthless to show it outside, that's definitely not true. People need to be able to look at your technical skills as much as your artistic ones so having it outside, broken down in textures/UV´s/wires, etc is definitely a good thing as well. Just don't overlook the importance of displaying game ready content. I'm sure some real artists on this forum will chip in on this a bit more and give you additional advice Guys?!?

I agree but how do you know what criticism to take? over the last week people have told me they love my work and other have told me that I shouldn't even try to go into games because my work isn't good at all. So it leaves me with mixed feelings.

    TL:DR => Everything Rick said.

Don't take this the wrong way but what are you gonna do with positive feedback? Eat it? Print it and hang it over your bed? "Very nice, I like it". That's ego-boosting but mostly useless feedback.

The best feedback is to the point, honest feedback that's very descriptive about what areas you can improve in. So then you go back to your work and make it better.

Overly negative feedback that doesn't explain anything is pretty worthless as well. (At least you'll know something went wrong )

So basically, if people just state their opinion, both positive or negative then that's mostly useless to you. What you want is substance. If you go post on these kind of forums then you'll notice hardly anyone is fishing for compliments, they just want others to spot flaws so they'll end up with a better work. So don't get offended when people critique your work, when people go out of their way to give you feedback it's quite a compliment. It tells you you're not a lost cause and there's potential in your work if you just improve what they said. Why would people spend their time giving feedback on a worthless piece that's not gonna go anywhere, nobody wants to waste their own time!?

    Portfolio feedback:

To go back to your portfolio. I hardly see any in-game level work. There's no way of telling if you got a sense of composition, etc etc. Yes, there's artists in the industry that just make props day in day out but if you wanna go that route then you'll need a portfolio that reflects that and justifies your lack of level related work. Meaning, a portfolio filled with kick-ass props, of all sorts and styles and usually some high poly work as well. Try to look for some portfolio's of really good guys that don't do level specific stuff.

Have you ever tried putting your work inside an engine? Making a town scene with those fantasy props for instance (and making more props off course so you have a complete scene). That's gonna make you look way better. Look at it from an industry perspective, how does an employer know you can put this stuff in the engine and that it's gonna end up looking good? They don't, then they might as well hire the guy that made awesome props but also put them into a level... See what I'm getting at? Competition is tough!

The ending was way too abrupt though... Just opened a door and poof... game over, happy ending. Was sort of anti-climatic. I was hoping there'd be a small epilogue at the palace to conclude the story and ease out of it more... Oh well

I didn't kill any guards nor the main targets up to the lord regent. I eliminated him the non lethal way by broadcasting his confession so the people know the truth. But then I ran up to him anyways and assassinated him cos he deserved to die. xD Then there's the story twist that made me sorta bitter so I ended up killing the assassin as well, and pretty much most guards as well at this point. Very nice that the story made me change my playstyle!

do you have some sources on that?

the reason the ps2 lasted for as long as it did was because the developers went around and did interesting things with it towards the end. i mean, i don't think we would see the technical art of shadow of the colossus if they had more power to work with.

Development. Don't take my word for it though, I'm no systems engineer and don't come much into contact with performance tweaks in development. Ask around or do some research if you want the full picture. Bottom line is that the PS3 suffers from bottlenecks, perhaps the largest being its RAM.

You think Bethesda didn't release Dawnguard on PS3 for the fun of it? Not everything was Bethesda´s fault imo (barely know if it has to do anything with it, it could be anything... really?) Not to say the xbox doesn't have its flaws, I mean... both consoles thrive when you develop for them exclusively to counter their weaknesses. To say one is more powerful than the other is a lie, but one of the other surely is more challenging to get things working on in a multi-platform setting (so from a developer's perspective, the consumers might not always see this struggle). Both consoles really shine with exclusive titles and I suppose that's where we might see a bit more improvement in the future...

    http://www.ehow.com/...y-problems.html

    http://www.ps3news.com/playstation-3-…ion-inevitable/

Etc, feel free to google. Enough stuff around. I just hope Sony learned from this and the PS4 will be a more balanced system.

Sure, that's what I said... If you really want to you can make it run, but don't you think it's time to let go and make room for the PS4 and the new xbox so we can run the games smoother, with better graphics, higher resolution... plus less headaches spent on making it run on outdated tech?
