So for those of you that played, what did you think of it?

I didn't like that you don't have to draw power lines, nor water pipes :/ I don't see the drawback of putting those facilities very far from the residential areas then to save them of pollution (that used to be expensive as fuck early game). Now you can just place them god knows where and drag a tiny road over there and done...

The zones aren't split up in low density, medium density and high density anymore. Guess it doesn't make much difference except for cost...

yeah, it will probably be a piece of shit. But looking forward to seeing one fly around the office and crash into someones face!

Does it actually fly? Nowhere in the clip does it say that, it might as well just drive around, ya never know xD Lawsuits incoming

Edit: They just state some specifications. It wouldn't be the first pre-order item that's been marketed like the bees knees but ends up not being what it's supposed to be. Cool beans though.

I'm going to give Eve Online another try ...for the tenth time or something. I just know that once I get into that game I'm going to think it's the thing best ever. I love when MMO systems are large enough to allow for emergent gameplay. Like how the super-complicated crafting in SWG created all this meta gameplay and roles.

then there's the space setting + ambient soundtrack!

After my countless tries I've learned that I like the idea about the game more than the game (execution?) itself. So I just stick to reading wiki's and listening to the ambient soundtracks.

Yeah, that's the thing we need more of these days. CGI.

I mean it I can count the *good* movies of the last year that used CGI (not talking about subtle use) on only 1 hand. That's not enough, I wanna check out the VFX without cringing at the movie, yes plz. Can't be helped that it's used everywhere though, that wasn't my point

The Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian.

I regret it already. God damn, all that rendertime wasted on bullcrap. Why can't there be more good fantasy/sci-fi movies, I want more CGI!! Special effects, splosions. yeah.

    Mysterious Skin

Watched that last week, pretty shocking stuff indeed. Not what I was expecting at all from reading the synopsis.

Lets just say this it is closer to what splinter used to be about than conviction ever was, even if u have to put up with a little daylight. The enemy doesn't always work at nightime, they arn't vampires

Sounds (and looks from the vid) pretty good indeed

Are there a lot of terrorists, middle eastern whatever dudes? Or is it a lot of company break ins, guards, etc?? That stuff is sweet Guess that might be too secret-ish info to share so I'll have to wait!

I saw some movie about the art direction and I hate the "on screen camera effects". I even disliked it in BF3, was way too overused and I think it's even sillier in a 3rd person game :s I don't wanna nitpick but it's so in your face that I'm sure it's gonna bother the fuck out of me :s

As far as other things go... Hated that video that showed gameplay in the daylight against terrorists and calling in airstrikes or whatever it was. Was really disappointed they were moving in this direction. Kinshasa was my least favorite part in Double Agent.

So I'm not sure what to think at this point (to be fair I stopped watching/reading stuff not to get hyped which I always do at a certain point). Conviction was pretty decent even though they moved more towards action and it felt like Bourne Identity... Pretty nice compromise since there were still night missions and stealth so I could live with the action feel. We'll see I suppose :s But I'm not keeping my hopes up too much either.

I'm a big time Splinter Cell fan and played the shit out of all of them, first time I'm super worried. Sorry to come of so negative guys, I'm sure it's gonna be a quality game but perhaps moved out of my interest zone, pretty sure there's a market out there that'll enjoy it Still gonna be a day 1 purchase though, have to check it out.

Spent 2h reading the rules (I'm a slow reader in general and it was rather technical/confusing tbh ) Gonna play it at the weekly board game day at work. Hope it was worth the time reading it but from everything I've heard (and read) it seems super interesting and totally down my alley

It depends a lot from game studio to game studio. And even game teams inside the same studio... and even individual positions.

So it's hard to say, one thing is sure though... everyone will eventually crunch in their career (Unless you work at Valve, although I've heard they crunch for fun as well if they feel like staying late...).

I mean, there's definitely people that don't HAVE to crunch but just do because they like to. Some days you're just on fire and don't want to go home

    1) Dishonored

    2) Walking dead

    3) Journey

    4) Unfinished Swan

    5) FTL

Some are so close I can't really give a proper order... Has been a good year, not a lot of triple-A stuff for me though.

    Worth mentioning:

Halo 4: Haven't had so much fun with a Halo title since Halo 2

DayZ: Was cool for a while, very unique experience but way too buggy/performance issues/netcode trouble to be high up there.

Finished it. Dayum... never shed a tear for a game before this.

Known bugs and how to resolve:

    1) If the game is choppy during cutscenes try setting shadows to low (or off if it's still the case).

    2) If at the start of episode 3 the game asks if you want to make random story choices because you skipped some episodes then that's a bug. Check if you can see the stats for episode 1 & 2 and if you can see those and have actually finished those episodes successfully then you can just continue by clicking "yes", it wont overwrite. It's just a faulty flag in the backlog (if you exit the game wrongly at some point during credits/stats screen or rewind in certain cases).

Shit shakes you up real good. Not only the ending is good, throughout all the episodes I found myself shocked quite a few times, I thought I saw it coming but... nope... did not. Pretty much knew those dairy farmers were cannibals but it never occurred to me that they were going after Mark. Holy fucking shit... Going up the stairs partially figuring it out but being in denial and then opening that door... WTF. Mouth wide open right there. The pacing of episode 2 is absolutely perfect. And then Carly getting shot in the fucking face out of nowhere. More WTF! Then the ending... One of the best experiences ever, I suppose you can argue how gamey TWD is but if other games like this get me so involved I'll gladly support any games that come out that are like this!

Unfinished Swan - seemed like it could be something kind of interesting, but the demo didn't reveal a lot. in the demo you only do the same thing all the time. makes me wonder if that's the whole game... I'm afraid it'd get boring pretty fast even if it could be fun as an exploration game (if there's something more to it)

I played it about a month ago. I don't know when the demo stops but I thought it was a super brilliant game, excellent execution! The pacing was almost perfect, interesting mechanics (although nothing super crazy) and the environments are pretty neat imo. It's so cheap it's criminal not to try it I think. (+ short, I love short games )

Seems like there wasn't much difference anyways. The buttons just fade in from a distance, or they just pop up if you hover over it. Doesn't seem to affect things much.

So far I like it, the streaming is a bit annoying though... It makes things pop/jitter/lag whatever which throws me off a bit, oh well

TWD will take you 4 - 5 hours.

Definitely gonna take me longer than that! Played 2 episodes so far and each one was around 2,5-3h long. Not complaining though, game is crazy good. Reminds me of Heavy Rain, I hope they can keep this up in the next episodes! Love that there's no quicksave/reload option so I don't go back if I make "wrong" choices, first game where I learn to live with the shit I do and it's awesome xD

And shit now I really need to go to bed, 7am seriously wtf can't turn this game down.

Nice but could've been more difficult indeed. Taylor, spoiler tag it! I think it would've taken me longer than 2 attempts if I didn't know that, I'm super retarded... like... really.
