Haven't played the others but seeing as GTAIV was boring as sin (aside from 4 leaf clover, or whatever that mission was called) I think saints row is the game for me.

Yeah im pretty dubious of calling 3 completely scripted things the player has to choose 1 from, player choice. Sure its better than games like COD, but that isn't much of an accomplishment when this is simply adding the sort of things that have been in PC games for 15 years.

Although to be fair everything ive seen of this looks like a massive improvement on Bioshock. As long as they don't hype this like they did Bioshock and then fair to deliver.

I like your CV, but that doesn't actually cover what I was refering to. Your actual designs havent been explained. The process you took to get to the finished result isnt explained. Even if its a rough overview explaining the layout.

That article highlights what I think is probably one of the biggest issues in design, there isn't enough early playtesting.

I would love a next gen Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance. The first 2 were great coop experiences. Played it shit loads with my brother.

Its a level design portfolio but there is no explaination anywhere. Just images. It reads like an environment artists portfolio. It does look slick though.

yeah pretty cool. 1 minor crit is the lack of atmosphere because there's no music or obvious ambient noise in the outside areas. visually it feels busy but audio wise its sounds dead.

So ive got a mate that is applying to several design courses in the UK, what I want to know is it better for him to go to do a 4 year course at Abertay University or a 3 year course at some other uni (I think it was Middlesbrough or something) with 1 year internship in the industry.

Which looks better on your CV at the end and which is more likely to help fill out your portfolio? My understanding of internships in our industry is that they are shit, and the fact that Abertay is pretty much the only UK university with a decent rep it seems like that would be the better option. But I didn't get into the industry with a design degree so I don't have the best insight.

the public transport is shite, you can choose from a train that stops miles away from where you want to be, or a bus filled with chav scum that runs once every 30 minutes.

try and live close to your office. ask the HR department at codies if they can reccomend you some nice areas to live, cause if you're gonna live in a shit hole at least try and live with normal suburban people who won't stab you for a fiver.

and finally: get a transfer o another codies office as soon as you can, make up some shit about needing to live closer to your family, lie about having a wife or a sick aunt or something, just get out of the midlands. codies have offices down south and fucking christ the south is shit but a hundred times better than the north.
