Company offered to take us, but meh, would have been all over GDC but I don't have any inclination to stand in line waiting to play a game for 2 hours.

I heard that level isn't very good, some guy called Helder apparently left Crytek because of it. [Blocked Image: https://migrationtest.mapcore.org/public/style_emoticons/default/mapcore_smilies/emot_shakehead.gif]

So I have an idea for a short single player mission, 15-20 minutes. I could do it in either HL2 or Crysis 2. Basically in Crysis 2 I could script it much faster and visually it would probably look much nicer but there wouldn't be many assets I could use and the AI types aren't as interesting as in HL2. Also HL2 would be easier to get players for. I'm leaning towards HL2. I want it partly as a portfolio piece but also just as a level that people can enjoy. Thoughts?

Everyone needs to Rate this on steam and get it boosted up the charts. Fucking great pack that is completely hidden on the workshop.

nearly spent £100, got the 2k bundle, only game I've played on it was Bioshock 2, so got 6 games for 40 which is awesome. Got max payne 3 £15 as well. Got Dead Island for £6 and Arkham City for £10 or something. So basically all the new games I need for a year tbh. Still have some games to play from the last sale.

I have had a design for a HL2 singleplayer mod for ages, but never got round to it. really should try.

fucking hell, chill out guys. :cop:

Also the core mechanics are not "tight". The core mechanic in any RPG is a sense of progression and creating a unique character, of which D3 has neither.

Personally found the progression to be pretty even, never hit a wall where I was like "fuck this" or any point where it was so easy I just rolled over everything.

PS Diablo in any form is far from the holy grail of game design

Yeah the horadric cube was annoying and im sure if done again they would make it differently, I expect them to learn things like that, like picking up gold automatically, auto revealing rares, townportal button, etc.

But Sentura is entirely right, D2 was a challenge, from start to finish regardless of the difficulty, it was balanced.

D3 is piss easy for the first two difficulties then ramps stupidly, until you find 1 good weapon, then its piss again all the way to inferno, when it hits retard wall where you cant progress without the AH or shed loads of farming.

Its like comparing Morrowind and Skyrim, sure Skyrim has loads of great improvements, but it has no feeling of progression, whereas morrowind had an amazing feeling of progression.

    Quote from Marvin.Star

After hating on D3 a lot myself I have come to the conclusion that the target market was intended to be ridiculously broad. They already knew that any Diablo fan would buy D3 so they wrote and tailored the game to new players and as far as story goes it feels like its intended for kids. I actually heard one of the guys on the Gamers with Jobs podcast say that he let his 8 year old son play it and his kid is having a blast with it; as though it were the coolest story ever. Which seems odd, because the game technically isn't for players under what 17? So yea, the writing sucks its meant for kids I think lol?

Except its appeal isn't broad. The required farming in it prevents it from being casual or having mass appeal, Diablo 2 on the other hand had wide appeal. The farming in games like WoW is handled relatively well, in Diablo 3 it's plain retarded.

I know how half life works, my point is that no where in Chernobyl will you die instantly. The kind of dosage you would get walking around the city would probably be no more than eating shit loads of bananas. It is simply a safety measure that the entire area is closed off. The only actual seriously dangerous area would be the actual power plant where the debris from the explosion will be, even then not the entire area would be dangerous, things don't become radioactive just because they come in contact with nuclear fuel, its the actual shards or pieces of the nuclear fuel that are dangerous.
