While that's true, I do wonder just how much overdraw there is from floating polys, and how expensive that shader is to draw. At the most basic level, all he's done is offset the performance cost for the scene from the texture memory onto the processor. While its an impressive demonstration, it isnt black magic.
CA is a pretty amazing place to work ![]()

Quote from PogoPAngle your monitors away from where people walk, so you can browse Mapcore/Facebook/Polycount/Reddit without the higher ups seeing.
Pretty much everybody who comes into my floor walks past my monitors. I had Mapcore open on one of them for most of the day today. COS THATS HOW I ROLL.
Also - if you're looking for a pay rise, leaving your browser open on recruitment forums and job postings while you're away from your desk on lunch is a great tip ![]()
- When you have explained no less than 4 times a critical issue with another artists work which directly affects your work ... when they still don't understand your clear, simple explanation - it is not okay to get frustrated with them. It is however okay for them to berate you about the fact that you won't leave them alone.
- When somebody is working with headphones on, and you are standing close enough to hear their music, but not in front of them enough for them to see you and take their headphones off ... that is a good time to talk to them about whatever issue you may have that you need to talk to them about. And if they ignore you, or don't appear to even realise you're there, thats a good enough reason to get annoyed with their "attitude".
I sometimes wonder if I work at the only sane company on the planet... and then I remember that its only going to last until Koko starts here ![]()
Quote from PogoPHoly fucking shit dude, you will not believe this.... but somebody ACTUALLY did that at Frontier today. Vilham can back me up on this, though he works upstairs so may not have heard. I'm being completely serious. Fucking weirdos at Frontier I tell you.
Somebody smeared shit on the wall apparently, it caused a right ruckus I can tell you.
Somebody's been reading mapcore .... ;D
IT think that a Wacom stylus costs around $100 to replace.
The studio won another one, last week.
Not sure how many people know about this, but Jon McCormack who was the Art Director at Lionhead for about the past 12 years left around a month ago too, to start his own independent studio.
I've also heard that several other key figures from LH have quietly bowed out ... I wonder if they heard the "You're working on Fable games for the next 5 years" line from MS...?
Blizz laying people off = beginning of the end.
