lol somebody should tell that guy about the existance of UDK and watch him having a heart attack

Maybe he just really wanted a fully dynamic light system? He doesn't seem to use it much in that video though.

heh when I first saw the video I thought to myself "how is this the doom engine?". Then I remembered there's another Doom after Doom2.

EDIT : What in the actual fuck? This IS the doom2 engine? That is innnnnsanne.

I have permanent back injuries from when I used to work in construction but that's not really why I made it,. Mostly because my ass hurt from sitting all day

So far it's interesting. What I'm noticing is it seems a bit easier to stay focused, even on boring stuff but I get tired quicker.

I liked Prometheus at face value but I respect people critiques.

Hell I've been fighting an upward battle with my view that Sophia Coppola is a pox to the film artform.

Yeah the order windows is supposed to look for libraries is starting in the same directory as the executable. So it SHOULD work fine as long as you put all the required dll's in the same folder as dispgen.exe

In my vocab it's what happens to you when you paint graffiti in thailand. Googling that word could have unfortunate results :X

Interesting start. Is there a backstory related to why he's in the capsule?

    I think I'm leaning towards the 3ds

lol I tried to play Shenmue a few weeks ago and... well, I can respect it for what it is, but it really is a game you can only play if you really have a lot of time on your hands.

Also, it's single handedly the game that I've seen thus far with the biggest waste of work, ever. For instance, in every interior, you can open every cabinet, and inside that cabinet you can hold and rotate with your own hands every single object. Just because... lmao.

They were absolutely nuts about that stuff. I kept wondering how much time they spent on the kittens in your front yard.

My wife and I are moving in with my parents

Just for a month or so !

Tbh, can't wait to leave Boston and go back home to see family and friends again. Also, I plan on building a bookshelf from scratch... or maybe a nice table... we will see... my dad has every tool known to man in the garage.

That's what I've done since I've been back from Japan. My parents have moved to a nearby gulf island and they rent the basement to a Finnish family. I pay about 1k rent but that's still a deal. We're gonna reconsider what to do in about 6 months when I've paid off my student loans and am finally debt free!

EDIT: Also the dad tools aspect is awesome. I'm finally starting to understand the male obsession with tools and building stuff.

Also I built a standing desk today out of old cinder blocks and scrap cloth.

No, you just have to send them two proofs of employment in a studio. Too late for that now tho... maybe next year, doesnt sound like it's going to be as big as last years e3 anyway.

    Ah balls. Maybe next year.

This is pretty interesting. Basically they are taking valve's TF2 hats stuff and trying to push it even harder. I'm much more interested now than I was before (what can I say? I'm a quake fanboy).

Also thank you mapcore for proving that I'm not crazy. People tell me that all the time when I say I can feel input lag.

Did they also do away with those mission where you disobey one tiny traffic law and you have to go back to a checkpoint 10 mins in the past?

Bear in mind that the $500 MM is spread out over 10 years and is inclusive of short-term and long-term milestones, infrastructure, customer care, and marketing on top of the development costs of a whole IP. In terms of where Bungie itself is sitting, if analyzed as an investor might, it suggests a strong investment. With anticipated domestic (US) video games sales exceeding the previous year's $21 billion (ESA), the strong history of Bungie to produce record breaking sales, and increasingly beneficial conditions to consumers to gain access to video games (lowering barriers) as well as recent historical sales revenues exceeding the $500 MM (easily) for single titles-- through the use of initial sales, micro-transactions, and DLC sales--I can see the 500$ MM mark being hit relatively easy. First 24 hour sales will likely exceed expectations (if not records due to name brand alone) and propel further sales. The cash flow for the 10 years will be the determining factor, and the large investments up front will reduce costs down the line freeing up future possibilities of development. Of course good reviews and fun is a factor, but Destiny is already receiving good press (although the same was said for Aliens: Colonial Marines??).

It's spread out over 10 years? I thought Bungie was just bound to Activision for 10 years. If that's the case then 50 million a year is actually not that much,

I've been playing Rogue Legacy. Kind of like a randomized castlevania grindfest. So I'm loving it.

Finished GTA5 and now don't know what to do with my life. I put about 80 hours into that shit, what a great experience. I don't think I'm going to bother with GTA: Online, but I'm very much looking forward to the single-player DLC that Rockstar has said will be coming later this year — there are lots of areas and aspects of San Andreas unexplored in the single-player campaign.

Not sure what exactly I'd like to see in the DLC. Surprisingly, gangs and mafia weren't dealt with too much so there's plenty of scope for stuff there. I expect that it'll have to be something big though so that the game's best mechanic — multiple characters — can still be used. Of course, what I'd like to see even more is something that goes beyond San Andreas altogether and opens up more of North Yankton or something.

Is it way better than GTA4? I really want to play it but GTA4 kind of put me off open world crime games for a few years.

how hard is it to survive?

I survived off contract work. Not my own projects.

I don't mind doing a indie game here and there but I prefer to work on a team. So I left that world.

I still make lots of small games on my own, way less stress because my only concern is to make a game.

Not like I'm the best person to give you adivce. I can hardly live off the money I've made independantly making games.

That said, if you have everything you need to make games and enjoy doing it avoid expanding too much. You don't want to find yourself focusing on operations when what you really want to do is make games.
