I'll check it out later and tell you what I think. Might be a good idea next time to post a direct download link for the map and edit your original post to include a download link.

Wow, I think this map is cool! Really original idea, look forward to playing this

Thanks m8nkey, appreciate it
.Quote from m8nkeyThe lighting and atmosphere are excellent though I think it could do with a little more ambient sound.
Thanks. For anybody who knows me, they may know that I'm big on ambient sound. I always try to make the sound design in my maps the best it can be and I always critique other maps on the use of ambient sound. Ambient sound is one of the things I usually do at the end of a map, but thanks for the reminder
.Quote from m8nkeyI have a couple of suggestions. Firstly, create a bumpmap and add specularity for the ground textures that are exposed to the rain so they look shiny and wet. Technically everything is well implemented but I think you need a stronger story and some interesting scripted NPC sequences to make this awesome.
Ah, I tried to add some sort of reflection on those exterior floor surfaces but I didn't know where to start, I guess you pointed me in the right direction!

Fixed now! Cheers Thirk

Hey
I deleted my existing avatar and went to upload a new one but I can't see the option. I tried force refresh and deleting all MapCore cookies. Any ideas?

Slacky, 3D Mike, cool stuff guys!

Ah yeah sorry, installation instructions is one of the things I forgot to add to the readme file!

Anyways, here is what you have to do:
1) Extract the contents of the rar file and place the folder "Night Terror" to "steam\steamapps\SourceMods"
2) Restart Steam
3) Open the "Third Party Mod" from the games tab on Steam.
4) Go to keyboard options > advanced and enable the console.
5) Press the tide key, located on the left of the "1" on a US keyboard and type in "map 01forest_05" than hit enter!

Night Terror, Singleplayer map for Half-life 2 (Ep1 Engine)
Info:
I have decided to release a little alpha version of Night Terror to the Half-Life community. I had planned to release this on Saturday (today being Monday) as this would have been Halloween in America, but due to a 26.5 hour full visibility compile time and horrible timing, it’s being released two days late.
I would like to give the standard “this map is a heavy WIP” insurance sepal to cover my ass... no just kidding. But yes this map is not finished, there are still spaces that need to be designed (this is roughly 30%-50% of “map” if you know what I mean). All the features that I am especially excited that will make this map ‘unique’ are not implemented, sound design is horribly unfinished and I need to redesign some of the spaces, particular the interior spaces, and gameplay is just rough, and no, Zombies and Headcrabs will not be the only thing you fight as you venture deep inside the facility.

Story Line:
“You have been assigned on a mission to rescue some battered civilians that fled inside the abandon Lucas Heights Northern Petroleum facility before night fall. The facility is surrounded in monster infested forest. The whole region, including the upper Hexam Highway, the Salt Pan Lake and the railway line used for freight transportation is closed and is dangerous particularly at night time.
Military supplies are tight as securing Hexam City is our first priority, if you get yourself into trouble, you won’t be getting support any time soon. Get yourself inside the facility and meet up with the civilians asap before it’s too late.
Remember, the facility has been abandon for 23 years now, we don’t know what it is like inside. Keep your eyes peeled and ready yourself for possible enemy encounters inside the facility. Good luck.”

@ Punky:
It feels a little bit too linear. I'm not sure what direction your wanting to head to in regards to theme, but I'd love to see more wires/piping perhaps in the lower sections of the map and a hint or industrial/sewer.
Here are some more suggestions that I think would look nice:
-Needs more age! Like a variation of brick/concrete/metal textures to give the feel of a city being built ontop of itself.
-You can do more with the sky, perhaps more buildings, a distant mountain etc
-Needs more non playable spaces to give the feeling of "more out there"
-I know your not finished with the lighting, but it could be tweaked to look really sexy. Perhaps less white light and more crisp shadows where it can be done
-More decals and props!
-Not sure about those 3 green weapon/ammo creates stacked like that in the last shot, your messing with the consistency that Valve setup (there where none of those used for decorative purposes in the game). You should use some other green/military/metal prop there instead.
Do you have a download link so I can run around the map and check it out?

Wow Pericolos0, you've just shown sex basically. I'm constantly blown away at the quality of work shown in this thread by everyone.
Anyway, I don't know what Sentura and arhurt are on
, but I think both of the screenshots are fabulous in their own way, they both show things from a different perspective.Great work man

Best thing about the map: Layout
Worst thing about the map: No ambient sound
This was actually a really good map. Sure it has that much used C17 theame but it was still very enjoyable.
The layout was 10/10. You had everything there, great height variation, flow, the lot. There are many opportunities for interesting gameplay situations given there is alot of players, as this is not a small map. The detail in the map was nicely balanced, every area felt like it received equal amounts of love and nothing really stood out to be under-detailed. It was consistent and consistency is really important in maps.
One thing that was disappointing was there was no ambient sound, I mean unless if I played the map incorrectly as I have before I apologize for this comment but the map was void of ambient sound, and like, great work :ssj: . You just lost alot of potential on this map and an experience that can be only gained with ambient sound. Everything was there, the environment was believable and everything, it was all there, my experience could have been 2.5 times more awesome if there was good sound design on the map. I can't stress enough to designers the importance of good ambient sound, its not something you should rush nor leave out of a map.
Other than that, I did manage to get to an area I wasn't supposed to like Punky said but that's easily fixable, just a clip, push effect or something to kill the player on the other side will do.
Didn't take much notice of the weapon placement because that takes me a while to judge. But yeah, great map, good layout, nicely balanced visuals, no ambient sound
.Good stuff Mazy

Attaching them to the forums themselves is preferable. You can do so just below the posting box, and it'll generate a big thumbnail for you.ImageShack is particularly bad because they spawn pop-ups when you go to view the big version, and of course the page is full of ads.

Ah right thanks, I'll do that from now on
.That's pretty cool Pericolos0, quite a style you have defined their.

Wow, Pericolos0, the0rthopaedicsurgeon really awesome stuff guys. Pericolos0 yours has a really cool futurity feel with the green gas and what not, it looks really intriguing. the0rthopaedicsurgeon, love the colour correction, the height variation and nice scenery would make an awesome place to fight in.
Anyway, here is an image of a Volcano I'm working on for my map. The Volcano is a displacement placed in a 3D Skybox. Keep in mind, the map is night time, its raining and is foggy (making it harder to make this thing visible and look realistic

What do you think?
More information and screenshots of the map can be found here.

Looks quite nice, I've been waiting for a Half-Life 2/ HL2DM map for me to check out.
I'll download it, run around in it and tell you what I think

Wow, heavily interesting. I always find things like this and like "time lapsed map builds" quite interesting. An excellent addition to a portfolio, the scene looks quite nice too

Good stuff Nurb, I'd download it and tell you more of what I think but I don't have UT3 or any unreal engine games for that matter.

NeoNautica: Looks nice, love the custom content. When I first saw the pictures I thought this was a source engine map. I like what you have on that mat, its totally true, selling games to a computer game store is a total rip off.
SpicyTanuki: You made that in one night? Nice, just the wires would have taken me a whole night to setup
. Looks pretty good from what I see, let's see some in game shots!
