Afaik endrant isn't owned or controlled by Activision, so I'm not why they'd be to blame. They could've maybe given Endrant more contracts or something to keep them profitable but they're not exactly beholden to further deals.

After the amazing Orange Box release I'm sure the feeling is mutual.
It's weird that all the Sony fans hate on Valve for that, since Orange Box PS3 isn't even their product, it's EA's.
Also the hardware issues with the PS2 Fat are what permanently made me switch teams to PC gaming. I was looking forward to that thing for so goddamn long, and I get it... and four months later it can't read discs anymore.

Is it just me or did that "textured light" massively slow down one of the console views, whichever one was on the left?
Also "Libarry"

Overall though, it looked cool. Paint scribbled on a real texture actually manages to look good in CryEngine, which is pretty weird. I guess the lighting engine just owns that much

[Blocked Image: http://www.imfdb.org/images/1/14/Ssgame.jpg]It's a turnbased squad game set just after WW2 in an alternate history or something like that. It had fully destructible enviroments, ragdolls (that was major back then!) and lots of other cool shit. It's sort of like UFO Xcom, with nazis and ragdolls.
Rezzing this thread to say I just got this game and installed it today, and I've pretty much played it non-stop. It's totally fucking awesome. It seems to hit every note I appreciate and love in a good PC game, alternating quicksave and autosave slots, as well as save anywhere, fully destructable environments that actually look cool as they blow up, fragmenting in realistic ways and exposing underlying boards and brick and shit, hard as balls, but fair, with pretty forgiving penalties for losing or getting your dudes shot up (as long as they don't outright die when they're shot down, and you carry them off the map at the end, they'll make it and spring back), neat and occasionally damn funny quips the guys say as they move around, shoot at people, see enemies, and get shot (my favorites are my guy yelling "Progress!" at random intervals, and the Russians saying "It's a bad day to not be a religious..." as they're about to die), and the best feature- no reload when you restart a mission! It just instantly resets the map and puts everything back the way it was at the beginning!
Really, really good fucking game so far. I'm still kinda getting used to some of it, like how frag grenades behave "realistically", shooting out anti-personnel pellets instead of just creating an explosion that can damage the environment, but so far I'm completely loving it. -

Every new technology tends to be overused... remember when games started to have normal maps? (<3 doom3)
That's funny, one of the nicest examples of normal maps I can think of is Half-life 2, and that came out the same year as Doom 3.
That Global Illumination video doesn't look nearly as good as it could, I think, due to the low detail textures.

That game looks pretty cool. Bet it isn't a multiplayer Wii budget title though, so David Wong wouldn't approve.

I'm excited about Starcraft 2 after reading the description of the missions in this preview.

After reading that article I feel bad for liking John Dies at the End. I was somehow fooled into thinking David Wong is a good writer, which that article proves wrong.
I said "ugh" so many times reading it. SO MANY TIMES

Oh man, I hope I didn't see what I think I saw in that MP footage. We removed ammo drops from dead enemies and I see its back now. That was taken out to get Soldiers to rely on Engies for ammo, so they couldn't go out on one man killing sprees!
Huh, interesting. Soldiers use the same ammo as other classes but are stronger? In ET the Soldier's weapons that made him the fighter class were all unique specialized ammos. With the generic Thompson/MP40 everyone was equal (except in ammo max and player skill
), so a Soldier with a rocket launcher or light MG couldn't just collect enemy ammo drops, because they weren't using the same weapons. He had to rely on map ammo boxes or field ops. -
I tried it a couple weeks ago but the host went on this big obnoxious rant about Yakuza 3 and shit, assuming that it costs nothing to localize a big open world game like that to English, and admitting he didn't even buy Yakuza 2, but still indignantly raging on the US game market and Sega's decision to not bring it over. Really annoying.

That's more of a merit to the Eidos marketing department, now isn't it

That's nice to hear. You gotta understand the rumors when the last big game IO made was a flop, and the next one they announce is an extreme departure from their standard formula.
I'm excited as fuck for Mini Ninjas anyway, I'm so damn nostalgic for games like these. Almost makes me wanna buy a playstation so I can play it on that.

Lol, that's a gaming podcast run by a guy from Gamespy.
https://www.eat-sleep-game.com/news/200 ... 29-081309/
Idle Thumbs (run by a guys from Shacknews and Gamasutra):
I think it might've been Idle Thumbs I heard it on since they specifically mention Batman: Dark Asylum in the show notes.
PS You should listen to Idle Thumbs regardless of any Batman/Hitman rumors, it's by far the best gaming podcast out there. The last two episodes have been the funniest shit I've heard in weeks.

Hey Mazy, beeing the final core member left at IO, are you also looking for another place to work? And if so, is IO a sinking ship?
I heard on, I think it was Rebel FM (maybe Idle Thumbs?), that IO isn't working on the next Hitman game, that's been given to the team behind that new Batman brawler that just came out.

Get used to it man, its another console take over. Even Rage has health regen.
I care less about health regen and more about not being able to eat food off the floor like a crazy nazi-fighting hobo.
There's a bunch of things about that video that bother me in little ways, though. The way over the top view bob when running, the loot glint on the dropped guns (Why the hell is this remotely necessary? I mean, come on. Really. They are not at all hard to see without it, thanks), "I need suppressive fire!", seeing red fuel barrels littered everywhere, including sitting INSIDE AN OFFICE, at one point one of the frenchmen allies runs right past a nazi the player was fighting and just crouches past him looking forward, apparently valuing cover behind the enemy instead of shooting the guy directly in front of him, etc...
I find the fuel barrels funny especially. I bet they're throughout the entire game, no matter how inappropriate. Gotta have that NEXT GEN HEALTH REGEN, but placing fuel barrels everywhere like it's 2001.

Do I spy regenerative health?
You're hurt! Get to cover!
If it's true, and I can't run over plates of food left on the floor to regain health in this game, then I'm not buying it. [Blocked Image: https://migrationtest.mapcore.org/public/style_emoticons/default/mapcore_smilies/emot_shakehead.gif] That's just blasphemy, man. You just don't do it.

New trailer is way better. They dialed the desaturation waaaay back, for one thing.

Maybe you're just unused to antialiasing in console games?
