Not surprising, given how little advertisement it's gotten, and the whole stuff about Endrant and the Raven layoffs didn't do anything good for confidence either.

It has actiony rock music playing in fights and the elite mobs are called badasses and you get guns that shoot acid and electricity. I associate a STALKER association with thinking the game's a bit more sober and "realistic" and down to earth game.

feel free to post some rationale for the difference. personally i see scavenging for food/items and hunting for treasure as pretty similar, but then you may know something i don't.
That's why I mentioned mood and motivation. Doing something cause you need to survive cause everything's gone bad and doing something for profit with the backing of stores and quest givers and revive booths and cars with guns mounted on them and friends online has a different tone to it.

I have zero trust in sonic team to make a good game at this point, it's not like the fun stuff of the Genesis sonic games is hard to understand and they still no matter what can't figure out how to redo it.

There's a big difference in mood and motivation between post-civilization survival and treasure hunting.
-
Borderlands isn't post-apocalyptic. You're just on an outlying colony world with lots of aliens on it. I mean, when you have a human civilization old enough to have planet colonies there might've been an apocalypse or two somewhere in there, but post-apocalyptic typically means post-society and order, and Borderlands has towns and stores and stuff.
The plot isn't that "oh no aliens have killed everybody, fight back and survive", you're a treasure hunter attracted to this alien-filled world specifically for phat loots. -
Crysis

Also HL2 ep2, they keep the walk-through foliage to a minimum so you don't get moments like that where you're standing right in the middle of a bush. The plantlife in general is all pretty simple but they're so well designed that ingame you never notice.
-
Those videos were supposed to make the game look pretty? I kept getting distracted by how low detail the foliage looks. The grass looks like it's planted in even rows like crops and he was constantly running right through bushes, showing off their flat edges.

I'll play it on handheld.

I dunno what was so "unfair to PC" in that video, though I do know that that onscreen injury effect was pretty bad. Looks like you got hit in the face with an big orange paintball. I like the way the HUD works, which I know is an odd comment.
Almost kinda sports-ish. -
Exclusives are the devil. Lately MS seems to be getting a decent number of ones that make me shake my fist angrily towards Redmond, like Shadow Complex and Alan Wake.

Gonna have a reenactment?

Ah, man, DODS. Never has an online FPS made me feel so good at it.
I got it at the same time as a ton of other noobs, it was a $5 weekend deal, and I absolutely wrecked most servers I played on. I had so much fun playing sniper and running from cover to cover, finding neat hiding places and mowing down the other team from it then progressing quickly. One of the awesome things DODS had that I've never seen in any other online game is the tons and tons of side areas and hiding spots and hidden paths, so many that even if a player were to memorize the entire map, there's too many to easily casually check for people hiding in them like you get in most online games. How often do you get a sense of exploration from an online shooter? -
It's not impossible to run homebrew on a PS3, just that nobody wants to bother with the system. There IS Linux though (not on PS3 slim).

I was referring to PSCX2. PS2 software emulation is PS2 software emulation, even if it's not running on a PS3.

":37cexrey]Yes that's true, but software emulation is also another possibility, but they wont do it, not for now at least. Because they still sell a lot of PS2's!
There's always unofficial software emulation, last I heard that's going pretty well.

It can't look too different from the Starcraft 1 editor, right? I mean, UT3's UnealEd, while all the buttons and UI elements have been drawn, and some shit has been moved around, and new features added, still basically looks just like Unreal 1's UnrealEd after four iterations, with three simplified views, one 3d preview view, and buttons all aligned on one side of the editor. I suspect most of us are just picturing the original editor except fancified.

Sure you don't want to try an ATI after what you just had to deal with?

Similarly priced Nvidia:

Here's a performance test that includes both, they're typically within a couple FPS of each other on equal settings.

The vertical axis is definitely slower than the horizontal as that's how most pro RTCW MP players played apparently. There's separate cvars for X and Y axis sensitivity, though I dunno what they are. There's a .cfg hidden deep within your Documents and Settings folder because obviously you'd never, ever want to alter it, right?
By the way I hear there's a line you can enter there (or set it as a launch option) to enable the Gamestop preorder bonus flamethrower weapon. Something like "getflamedlc 1".
