yes plz someone translate I'm curious. If they're saying the US is in any danger... that's bogus.

Not just "in danger", 750 rads is a super fatal dose. They're pretty much saying Japan could be the apocalypse.

    1 rad = 1 rem = 0.01 sv. check the above chart.

take into account that this is gradually accumulated, not instant. over time, the body will remove at least some of the radiation present.

    A. 7.5 SV is fatal even with treatment, as per the chart.

    B. The graph of 750 rads hitting America is a piece of fiction, made up by complete fucking assholes.

    C. It's grossly irresponsible to be reprinting it anywhere. People are poisoning themselves with iodine overdoses over this shit. There are runs on fucking SALT in some places. Salt!

USA getting the release first from a game made in the EU.God I fucking hate this shit. Why does the EU always get shit released later? I'm glad I'm not in Australia.

Cause retail. The traditional retail game "new game day" of the week in America is arbitrarily an earlier day in the week than the EU. That's it.

Haha! What does it say? I get the gist but what's the highlighted parts?

My German is really bad, but I'm pretty sure "Wolke" is cloud, so they're taking about the "radioactive cloud" from Japan.

Every time I hear something from the ME soundtracks I'm reminded of the Deus Ex soundtrack, I'm pretty because they've directly cited the inspiration before.

The concept of Project Snowblind being anyone's favorite game is completely baffling. It has absolutely nothing that makes it stand out over other games whatsoever except for cyborg not-Tracer Tong.

Yeah, Arx Fatalis is really, really good. One of the best world concepts I've ever seen in a game, and it plays like System Shock 2 + Elder Scrolls. That's a really winner combo for me.

Well, there was Deus Ex: IW

A sequel is different. I can always replay DX1 regardless of IW. I can no longer get a copy of Thief 1 that isn't Gold, meaning I can't play the game without playing the Downwind Thieves Guild (which is worse than anything in IW btw). Last time I replayed Thief Gold it took me literally like four hours in that terrible level to find enough loot to meet the max difficulty loot requirements to leave. I could've played through all of Homefront, or Kane and Lynch 2, in the time it took me to play that one giant sewer level.

I actually kinda liked IW. It wasn't nearly as good as DX1, but it was a pretty decent Xbox game in its own right. And IW led to Thief 3, which I could very easily compare favorable to the older Thief games. Thief 3 was really something special.

Thief was retroactively made worse by Thief Gold, which added in the absolutely terrible Downwind Thieves Guild level. Deus Ex never suffered this offense.

still have to play through it, though im more interested in the first one judging by the story. i wish they'd get em on steam

In System Shock 2 instead of mouselook you drag bars on the screen to pan or lean/crouch. It also will likely run very poorly in DOSBox as one of the first ever polygonal 3d games, especially if you want to run it in 640x480 (and in its default 320x200 res reading text is just about impossible). It's worth it IMO, but it's a serious goddamn investment to learn how to play that game. System Shock 2 is much easier to get used to.

I was playing STALKER yesterday. I learned that the game doesn't have an autosave the hard way

    It does have an autosave.

...it just doesn't trigger except on map transitions in Shoc and CS.

I miss old style fps stealth missions, like in Return to Castle Wolfenstein, where you could just kill everyone (and were encouraged to) as long as there wasn't an alarm, like the one where you have to sneak into the secure missile bunker. You use your silenced Sten and sniper rifle to kill patrols as you move, taking care to avoid alarms, until you get to the entrance, avoid shooting the entrance guards, and instead board a truck going inside and hide. Then, once you're inside, no more need for stealth and you just blast everybody.

There's no real reason for that stealth mission at all. "They hear gunfire all the time out here" *witnesses multiple shootings during the mission* but nope can't kill nobody except a few arbitrary people placed for you to snipe.

Tried out a friend's copy of Homefront, played through the first level. Game looks like Half-life 2, which, given the theme of being a resistance against a monolithic faceless occupying force, makes it feel a bit odd. The outdoor areas look a bit better, mostly cause bloom. Multiple times I noticed a disappointing lack of detail and once, saw the edge of the world, looking around at areas I guess they just didn't expect anyone to notice, like at one point I had to sprint across the street and decided to stop in the middle and look both ways. I'm pretty sure I also saw enemies spawning in from nowhere at one point, while you fight around the wreckage of a plane.

I don't think I'll be getting a copy for myself.

What was wrong with gears of war? Was it expensive and short?

I tried it out and hated it, everyone took forever to die and it was super ugly. My experience was only one level though so I don't know how long the game was. Too long I guess.
