I did enjoy FC2. Personally I wouldn't have minded a new FC game that basically took FC2 and just polished and expanded on it (and removed those pesky guardposts!).

Same. I had a ton of fun with FC2, only petering out in the second half of the game when other releases distracted me from it. What I played, I really enjoyed.

The checkpoints stopped bothering me about two or three hours in when I got better guns, like the pistol slot grenade launcher.

Also damn, FC2 on PC was really, really, really fucking pretty. I'd even go as far as to say I prefer FC2's graphics to Crysis, because of stylistic choices and better performance (at least for me, 30FPS with everything maxed out except shadows on Very High instead of Ultra, while I get around 25FPS with Crysis on med/high).

So is it open world or what? There was XP and a radar, but that was pretty scripted and controlled. Also lol a journalist type guy grabbing a dude from behind, killing him with his own knife, then throwing that knife into another dude to kill him, too. Sure turned into a badass psycho killer pretty quick.

Eidos Montreal has taken a very liberal stance on the leak, even allowing people to talk about it on their forums (although restricting screenshots and videos), and encouraging links to non-game press reviews and stuff like that. There's been a lot of info posted, and it's pretty much 100% positive. I really want to know how the leak's effected preorders now, because just about every Deus Ex fan I know (except one Deus ex modding forum I'm on full of grognards who hate DXHR for anachronisms like "Jensen wears sleeves!" or "UNACTO shouldn't have been formed back then!") is head over heels about the game and a lot of them have preordered since the leak due to doubts being eased by it.

Instead of people saying it's shit and they want their money back.. how about explaining why?!

I did. The game plays like old crap that at the last minute haphazardly had new crap fads pasted on it without thought or justification, and is already like six or seven years outdated from those fads anyway.

I was expecting it to be bad. It was actually the worst thing ever and a key example of everything wrong with modern game development.

Well that was fucking awful. The shooting feels even worse than Borderlands, that shouldn't even be possible. You just put bullets into pigs until arbitrarily their HP rolls over and they die, with no feedback until then. Pistol feels like shit, shotgun feels like shit, chaingun cannon (which they've renamed Ripper?) feels like shit, RPG feels like shit (it missed every single shot I took with it unless I let it auto-lock on first), etc. You can only hold two of these guns at once. No more Mighty Boot, instead duke smacks things with his gun. There are super anachronistic moments where they're clearly trying to impress the pants off you with features that have been in games for like eight fucking years now. "Wow! Dynamic lighting! Physics! Water gets on your screen when you look up under this shower!". The only remotely good part of the demo was Jon St Jon's lines when you pick up the shit out of the toilet. How sad is that?

The DNF demo is out now if you've preordered or have Borderlands and thus have a "first access" key. I just finished downloading it off Steam.

I'm actually really liking a lot of what I'm hearing due to the leak. By the sounds of it just about every Deus Ex-y detail or reference or callback you could want is in the game, for example, getting in trouble for going in the wrong bathroom. I watched a guy play last night on a stream and he died to the same turret like four times in a row because it had a flashbang trap in front of it (as far as I could tell anyway, it wasn't visible but he kept getting flashbanged when he went near it. Maybe that's a special turret feature, not a separate trap). It was hilarious. Eventually after everyone in the comments kept yelling at him, he discovered a vent nearby to bypass the thing. Also the levels don't look that unbelievably futuristic that people were worried about. I only watched that first level after Jensen gets his augs before turning off the stream to avoid spoilers, but that level looked perfectly realistic and normal, except for the desks with fake arms and shit on them, and the outfits the swat guys wore. They've done a much better job making the game look realistically futuristic than a lot of people (with aspergers and poor abilities for suppressing disbelief) were expecting.

Just this clip of the game looks more impressive than the entire MW3 trailer.[Blocked Image: http://www.abload.de/img/bf3-2c8pk.gif]

The lighting there is better than pretty much any other game ever.

I'm on a crunch right now. A little old lady I know is in trouble with the county due to code violations with her house: A front porch piled high with boxes and furniture and crap, back exit blocked, a camper leaning over into her neighbor's driveway, a rotting back porch and stairs. Moving the camper means converting her backyard into a capable parking space, which means digging it all up, filling it in with a layer of gravel, and pushing the camper (which no longer runs) back onto it. The back yard USED to be gravel, so the dirt's all full of little rocks stuck in the mud, making shoveling it hell. I'm trying to get all this stuff done before her court date to keep her out of trouble.

We really should've gotten a longer dev cycle.

    dandelion???

Yeah, mostly. It sometimes chugs a bit too much, like when I was approaching the prisoners to be hung in flotsam with the big crowd in front of them, but so far not to the point of unplayability, and not nearly as bad when I actually have to fight dudes.

I'm really enjoying this, including the combat. Once I got found the Parry button and bound the bombs to a pocket, things went smoothly. There's some funny business going on with video settings. On everything absolute minimum, even my resolution knocked down a notch to the next available 16:10 res, I only get like 20-25FPS on average. But then, on everything on minimum, the game still looks like this:

The resolution and textures seem to be properly ass, but everything else, especially the shadows, looks way better than they have any right to on minimum.

It seemed pretty clear to me the dad was deliberately misrepresenting the game to get on the news. That line is like 5/6 through the game. The joke with that specific line is how it's a callback to all the OTHER similar but better lines.

Or he's just so extremely stupid all of Glados's lines went right over his head. He's an irl wheatley.
