I didn't realise people disliked GTA4 so much until I started reading all the comments on various news sites about the announcement.

It's kind of hard to make a sequel to a game that had vtol planes and jetpacks, without including vtol planes and jetpacks, and get away with it.

Interesting stuff. I've never actually played Dear Esther the mod, because by the time I had heard of it, I had heard of Dear Esther the remake... should I play the mod? Or that Korskakova one? I've played your one about organizing memories (at least I think that was you).

I'm not very good at keeping up on source mods these days. Like Research and Development, that came out a million years ago, and I've had it installed in Steam the entire time, and I've gone through three windows installs, two video cards, and an entire computer rebuild since the last time I played it, and even then it was only like an hour and a half. I liked it, I did, just other stuff distracted me...

I like how they made me watch a BF3 trailer before I could watch the BF3 review. Game video sites seem so shady anymore. Watching ads for the privilege of watching more ads...

So, is this going to run like crap on my 4GB of RAM, Q6600 (2.4GHz), and ATI 4870 1GB? Would it run acceptably on lower settings while I magic some money out my ass for new components?

On minimums I got 30fps in the beta, and I have only a dual core and 4670 1GB. You should be able to do even better than that.

That trailer was great, but all the journalists I've heard mention SP brush it off with "Buy BF3 for the multiplayer" or something similar, implying the MP side is way, way better.

hehe interesting to see how much opinions can divert from each other on series around here. I enjoyed the first episode, but House

in a hospital without Cuddy, Chase and the rest of the team is not the same...Oh and Wilson doesn't count. How long did it take until they were friends again? He's such a whimp.

At the end of the second episode Wilson begrudgingly accepts House's presence on a work level, they don't do anything outside of work anymore (which wouldn't be too likely anyway since House has an ankle bracelet).

And I like that Cuddy's gone, and I'm pretty ok with his team being gone as well. House is back to being primarily about House, and House has always been the best character on House.

The current season of House is pretty good. They've significantly changed the cast, giving House a major lifestyle change, and two new employees while taking away three. Their patient in the second episode was a disembodied pair of lungs from a donor kept alive artificially until they could "cure" the lungs so they could be implanted.

I like the description in the steam page.

No it isn't. It is good, but not that.

I'm willing to forgive them the clever pun of calling a game about an asteroid hitting the earth "ground-breaking".

trying not to sound like an idiot here, but it has the "real" feel to it. i wish i could point to what it is, but it's pretty much just "real".

the picture of the real environment and the screenshot of the game are very similar, because the game is using pictures of the real environmental as its art

If they were using a more complicated or dynamic scene as a basis it'd be much, much harder to pull off.

Apparently this is supposed to be impressive, that they can have high resolution photosourced textures in a completely static environment. Maybe the engine actually is super sweet shit, but what's there in the article is laughable. In Kane and Lynch 2, there were main menu backgrounds, like the one looking out a car window, that looked virtually realistic to me... because it had high quality static reflections and textures in the car, realistic camera movement, and a photo sourced background out the window. It was a very pretty effect, but not exactly the oncoming wave of the future for all games. Show me a person, or at least dynamic lights, and then we'll see.

Kane and Lynch 1 kept making my keyboard become unresponsive, so I had to unplug it and plug it back in to continue. Without a doubt the most annoying issue I've ever experienced with a game. I actually rebound pause from Esc to Mouse 4 (and thank god that I actually could do that, honestly that's something pretty impressive as an option! Half the console ports nowadays don't even bother recognizing extra mouse buttons, let alone rebinding Escape!) and plugged my usb keyboard into the front of my case, and stubbornly finished the game that way.

There were (exclusively) negative comments on metacritic before the game even came out.

This is one of the dumbest things about Metacritic IMO, they let average users submit ratings before the game's even released. What possible legit use could that serve??

":2ghn4539]I'm surprised it even comes as a surprise to anyone what he just said, everyone's concentrating on consoles now, the only developer I can think of that still makes AAA for PC is Blizzard, and even so Blizzars is it's own league.

I don't have any current consoles, just PC and mobile stuff (Dungeon Raid on ios is one of the best puzzle games I've ever played, and definitely the best puzzle RPG. Owns the shit out of puzzle quest), and yet somehow I don't have any problems finding Good Games. I don't even like RTS's, either. "AAA" is almost exclusively a console, american-focused term, it's not something you'd ever hear someone use to describe, say, Stalker COP, and yet that's the best game I've played in the last three years or so. No polish or technical problems at all, either.

I saw an interview on IGN from an IO guy (all you swedes are alike so I don't know which one) saying that the Chicago Library was picked for its cinematic nature for the demo, with the majority of the game still being more open ended "sandboxes" (that term is steadily losing all meaning). Still, that still points to IO/Square trying to market the game in a misleading way, to a crowd that might not have the patience for the series' traditional adventure puzzle problem solving gameplay. I saw someone on another forum pose the question "What games are like Hitman and why?", and while a few people mentioned spy games like Velvet Assassin, honestly for me the first thing to come to mind are adventure games like Day of the Tentacle and Gabriel Knight. I can only hope that in some future hitman game I can make a mustache from a cat's fur and a syrup packet, to make myself look like the picture id of a man without a mustache, so I can get a motorcycle and escape the level.

So are IO taking special efforts to be less racist with Absolution? Because they don't really have a good track record in that category with past Hitman games.
