I've tried Sketchup in the past- it felt inaccurate about which plane it would make a surface on based on the awkward camera movement, and it took an equal amount of work for me to just make something in Hammer or UnrealEd. I fail to see how Illustrator will produce different results of me doodling on a blank page with my mouse.

I was having trouble finding inspiration for the three main buildings in the current Source map I'm working on, so I broke out MSPaint and my fantastic artistic skills.

Top left is an apartment building. The stairs between the second and third floor have collapsed, blocking the route between the first and second with the rubble. All three floors are similarly designed apartments, four to a floor, except the third, which is divided into two. Top right is a store, the stairs to the second floor are barricaded with shelves and other miscellaneous items. Second floor is a storeroom and small office, third floor is an apartment for the store owner. Bottom left is a bank. Second and third floor are offices.

It's depressing how many people fell for this. Anytime anyone tells you a "The sky is falling" sort of story, no matter WHAT the subject is, even if it's something you really care about... get separate verification of the facts.

Possible console ports of Crysis will almost certainly be cut up and downsized, just as the last gen console ports of Far Cry were.
I wonder if a modern console could run Far Cry as it was in the PC version... Maybe the 360 since it has 512 MB RAM.

I'm super excited about Fallout 3. The only evidence it'll be a good game I need is that Emil Pagliarulo is the lead designer for it.
He worked on all three Thief games, the Bloodmoon Morrowind expansion, and the Dark Brotherhood quest line in Oblivion. This guy's gold. -
UT1 in a browser, or even Unreal 1's multiplayer mode in a browser, would be the most epic thing ever.
This is still nice, though. Signed up for the beta.

There are plenty of things that are good to be vocal about. Whining about your sales and declaring you're no longer supporting your current game aren't good things to be vocal about, however.

I believe he's working in Source (his page mentions DoD), and Source has a color correction feature (though it's SM2.0 only).

This announcement was just a real bad idea, plain and simple. They could've just kept quiet and not released any more patches and continued to work on whatever it is they're working on, and nobody would've said a word unless Crysis is full of game breaking bugs, but they had to specifically announce they won't be supporting it by patches anymore... It makes your paying customers feel slighted. Combined with the announcement that despite selling a mil+ copies, selling amazing for a PC Game, that piracy hurt their sales and they won't be a PC exclusive dev anymore... Crytek's just been weird lately. Uncomfortable.

I wouldn't like automatic driver-updates from Steam, really, because they still don't get the concept of legacy drivers, and legacy hardware down. For all the Orange Box games they warned me to update my drivers of face the consequences when I first ran them- even though I'm on the very latest ATI drivers that have support for my ancient-ass DX8 ATI video card.
The whole of that article and talk though makes me very, VERY excited. Steamcloud! Fuck Yeah! 200% industry growth! Fuck Yeah! Consoles suck! Fuck Yeah!

Bought a copy of Call of Duty 4 on Steam for an Aussie friend (Silly activision, region limiting their digital distribution releases. What kind of sense does that make?), a cheeseburger, fries, and vanilla frosty at Wendy's, and a bottle of water.

Games have come close, at times, like Indigo Prophecy, only to throw it away on stupid stuff, like Indigo Prophecy's thrusting during the first scene and the fact that one of the characters WAS A FUCKING ZOMBIE in the second.
The maker of that video (which would've been better if he had NOT tried a psuedo-yahtzee style) forgot about another big issue: The ESRB is quick to AO a game with sex, and none of the consoles will play an AO game. For some unfathomable reason Microsoft and Sony (Nintendo's pretty expected at this point) have completely banned the rating from playing on their systems. AO is exclusively the domain of the PC, which, while having the biggest market share of game platforms, has by far the lowest media perception.
