Quote from e-freaki don't think it's so much about atheism or islam or christianity (i call myself christian) but about the freedom of speech and the question why we don't allow a movie that deals about islam with such an opinion and on the other hand allow far more onesided movies about every other religion, group or ideology.
Exactly what I was thinking when I heard about this on the news, I do believe that the creator of this movie wanted to show the people that the Islam is a dangerous religion in some cases.
I tried it but it looked too Apple
, I had no problems with the text etc but the difference with my other web browser(s) was too big.
And I will never leave my beloved Firefox!

I live in Belgium, so its a lot in the news here too and actually I love it, I can buy steam games really cheap and travelling to America would become much easier and cheaper!
WOW, you guys did well on gathering such a professional team!
The screenshot looks awesome and the dinosaurs look realistic and collosal, good job and the best luck with developping it!
Just got my new PC which means that I'll be playing a lot of UT3, WorldInConflict and Supreme Commander
And best of all, two weeks vacation ![]()
Quote from Senturai dont know how to put it, but there's a lack of subtle detail in most of those pics... you have some large props in most of the rooms and outside, but you need pipes running around, or something else to cover the walls. it definitely looks way too empty
Yep, and your lighting doesn't blend to good with the skybox you have, give it a purple/blue/orange ambient perhaps.
Hehe this looks good! too bad we have to wait till the 15 of August...
Niiice! the orange fences look a bit odd though...
Quote from e-freaksry my previous post was a bit uncalled, esp. since you say you are new to texturing. The most basic tip is : If you are trying to make a texture seemless you never work with mirroring it but with stamping/cloning. The Problem with Mirroring is, that the human eye catches far too quick on patterns and can see such mirroredges within the break of a second while a stamped/cloned texture seem looks natural (ofc this needs practice and doesn't help in every case). So getting started on a foto-refference to texture process is mostly something like: Scale the image to the right size, cut off a 512² (or 1024²) part or puzzle it together and then move it so you have the obvious seems in the middle of the texture and try to overpaint them instead of mirroring them.
Yeah, and making textures from scratch is way easier so most of my textures are from scratch and they look fine in my opinion, but when I work with photos I took or a nice picture I found on CGtextures or something its way harder to make them tile, and yeah I usually just create a new 512x512px document scale the picture, edit it a bit and make it tile.
I'll try to improve the tiling maybe by just adding some dirt on it or something ![]()
Thanks for the tips.
Oh, and here is a tile texture I made (from scratch), I still need to improve the seams though...

Quote from e-freakguy - that's a rather unawesome texture - sry to say but you might have seen that you have a FAAAT Mirroring in the mid of the texture and it might not stress to much within a single jpg but you will have a Tiletiletiletiletiletile Ingame with such an obvious mirror (on 256,y)
Hmm okay thanks for the tip, its wip and I'm pretty new to texturing (only doing it for a few months).
So practically I have to add more variation to my texture so that it wont get to repetitive? any other tips?
One tip for all texture artists out here; download CrazyBump it is free and very user friendly normal map creating software.
Download it here:http://%7boption%7d
Another tip (also free) is Mapzone, it's something completely different from phothoshop etc, and in the beginning its not easy but once you know the basics its awesome for creating textures from scratch, the websites has a lot of tutorials and everything will go much easier because it contains a lot of presets.
download: http://www.mapzoneeditor.com/ (if you want to see what this texture tool is capable of check out the gallery). Oh and here is a video of procedural textures in the unreal engine (all textures made in mapzone, rendered with their proFX software)

[edit] and since this is the wip texture thread I'll add a texture I've been working on today remember its still WIP!

I'll post in-game shots as soon as its ready.
Nice, very inspirational!
Quote from QuakisI found this site via CGTextures, but it also has a nice little lighting tutorial. Check it out; http://%7boption%7d
WOW, just WOW!
Look at this, can this be source?!

Quote from SindwillerCryEngine 2 uses heightmaps for terrain geometry - as for the function you mentioned, it might be some advanced noise stuff
That's completely not the thing Defrag is doing or what's even within the possible spectrum, as we're talking about the Source engine here.
It would be cool if he could make something like that though and I have no experience with the CryEngine YET, but if making that for source is so impossible as you say it is than never mind, I have no other ideas for a displacement editor btw....
I saw a video of the cryengine where you could create a random basic landscape (a simple displacement like an island or a mountain) by the click of one button, you could also adjust the size and height of the landscape etc...
