Yeah you can't see everything in one go, you gotta pause and rewind sometimes, one of the signs in the hospital says "Pause Button OCD Unit" The Descent - Bloody brilliant.

I hope you watched the original UK version and not the one with the crappy US ending

I'm still listed as being at Codemasters on here, I guess you can move me to Crytek UK. There isn't a Crytek UK section though so maybe one can be made for me and Gingerlord

I enjoyed the first two COJ games, I'm confused by some of the news reports on this one though - is it an XBLA title?

also, this is human vs ai? i hope so otherwise this is going to be shit after the first week once nobody is playing it anymore ;(

Thanks Rick. I'd criticise you right back but I can't, because I like BF3.

I'm sure they made it look that way to show off how deadly the guys in the suits can be. In a real match I imagine there to be a lot more people fighting back (hopefully!)

Yes, the trailer was quite scripted.

It's cool everyone's entitled to their opinion I'm not on the art team, I'm a designer so I've got a few levels in the game that are mine, one of which I'm working on with Scott (he's sat next to me). In terms of that trailer I was overseeing the Hunter game mode from the design side and also the cinematic stuff that happens at the start of the trailer was something I put together (with help from the artists/animators/code team). I've never done any cinematics before but what I made in the editor as a prototype has ended up making it into the game which is pretty cool. The museum environment in the trailer is also John's (Ginger Lord's) level

MP games have a lot more considerations optimisation-wise than SP Pogo. That being said this is also pre-alpha footage

i don't think i could do it, i need to be in an office, need to interact and bounce ideas off people. i'm not sure i would grow as quickly as a person/developer/artist without being surrounded by other like-minded people.not to say it isn't possible but there's a reason studios exist i guess.

Pretty much what I was thinking about it, though I've no experience of working remotely to call upon. Working in a studio environment and having regular meetings and discussions I've learnt far more about design than I would've if I was sat at home doing it, though I can see the perks of that too. I also like the fact I can learn about other aspects of game development that aren't necessarily my field, for example at the moment I'm sat surrounded by the art team and I gain help and inspiration from them most days, even just from watching what they're doing when they don't know I'm stalking them. I also like the fact that walking around the studio you get to see all the different elements of your game (and the other games being worked on) coming together, it's cool to see how things progress through development.

Fair enough I think the thing with

    Quote

Bane's death that bothered me was that they built him up to be this guy who was actually more powerful than Batman and I spent most of the film wondering how they could possibly finish him off, then within a couple of seconds he's been hit with some missile and supposedly killed, seemed a bit of a cop out and a slight anti climax to that part of the story

Well it's not necessarily trolling if people pick out flaws in it, I loved the first two and liked this one but I noticed a lot more wrong with it than I had with the previous films, maybe as I was quite hyped for it. Things like

    Quote

bane's really quick death which they never came back to

    and

    Quote

miriam coulthard's really badly acted death scene

    and

    Quote

the ridiculous bit where commisioner gordon throws a flare onto the exact spot on the frozen river where Batman has laid a trail of gunpowder leading to a flaming bat symbol on a building, which he probably wasted a good few hours setting up

    and

    Quote

suddenly everyone seemed to know that Batman was Bruce Wayne

. Things like that though don't ruin the film at all and yes they are nitpicky (it's not exactly a realistic film franchise), but it was just strange as elements of it seemed a little rushed, to me. Also I was disappointed that they ruined the films biggest set piece (in the football stadium) in the trailer. Still, a great trilogy though.

Does look cool, it'd be nice to have NPC's in a game seemingly react to what the others are saying though, all the NPC's in this (and loads of other games previously) seem to just say random stuff and talk over each other, doesn't come across too naturally.

Agreed with Thrik, I really like the first shot. Seems like seeing as it's based on the concept it seems more of a one shot kind of environment? The lighting in that shot is cool too, makes it look kinda stylised like the concept

I started the car model at the end of last July, so it's pretty much been a year Though I did take a few months off around Christmas and it's not always been easy to find time for personal work amongst work/life/xbox 360

    JeanPaul

Actually I was trying to get the 2 lights in shot too, looks odd with one. I moved the light entities before the last shots and forgot to adjust the camera, I'll sort that out Also the DOF was something I spent ages tweaking, it's all about the car in the background really I don't want any details to be visible on it (looks better to all be blurred out). I might tweak it slightly as well to see what I can get away with

    Updates:

(Yeah HP i put the MSAA up ), also learnt about cavity maps, did a load of tweaking to the lighting, added puddles/grass and made it all a bit tighter

    [Blocked Image: http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/5180/frame000015.jpg]

I have a weird issue though on the side of the car though, it only happens when the rain entity is enabled, but the line that you can see running through the window frames (more visible on the right side of the image on the window pillar) appears...it's not there without the rain entity. It's nothing to do with the model I don't think either.

Another issue is that the glass doesn't display the rain pooling effects on it. I tried making it an illum material to compensate, which works until I give it any opacity, then it breaks again. If anyone can offer any advice on either of those that'd be great!

Californication is an amazing show, yet no one ever seems to watch/talk about it, it flies a bit under the radar maybe. Either way everyone should check it out

That's a shame, I liked both the Prototype games, they were a lot more fun than Infamous
