A friend at Ubisoft got me a copy of this, played about an hour so far, it is pretty sweet - basically just like playing an episode of the show. Wasn't sure about the turn based combat at first as I'm not normally into that kind of thing but it works pretty well. Any game where you can fart on everyone you meet or that has a minigame involving using the toilet to produce shit nuggets that you can throw at people is good in my book

There was an unfortunate incident involving a pint of water and my PC that resulted in the fuses being blown across my house. At least now I know for definite that PC's don't need watering.

I think your master race is better off without me. I shall look forward to getting my PS4 next week

Maybe I should get it on PC, i haven't really played anything on PC since Soldier of Fortune 2 is why I'm a bit reluctant. I guess i can at least play with a pad on PC, and it'll be cheaper than 360

I want to play this but don't really want to buy an XB1, do we know how different the 360 version will be to the next-gen ones?

Yeah the Journeyman bit sounds new, we did the advanced game dev project in the final year though. My time at Teesside was good, even if I spent a lot of the last 2 years locked away working on both uni work and portfolio pieces Good luck with Expotees, we did that too, was a good chance to speak to people from some of the local development studios...if you get to that stage it's worth taking e-mail addresses from various studios and forwarding on your portfolio for them to check out, so make sure it's all updated by that point (and mark anything on it as 'in progress' if it doesn't yet exist)

Your final project looks interesting, update it when you're further along, will be interesting to see how it turns out

I also went to Teesside I checked your portfolio but only the top project (Hotel Holmes) seems to be loading...

The second year team project (with outsourcing) sounds interesting, when I was there we only did a 10 man project in the final year, it didn't do so much to prepare me for working in the industry though as we all worked quite separately and some members of my group did at little as possible to get involved. Sounds like they're trying to alleviate that somewhat which is good

Yeah it's true, it's good actually as they admitted the previously (when it was 24 episodes) they ended up creating filler episodes, so none of them this time around

  • Crytek Uk Internship?

    • PaulH
    • January 16, 2014 at 12:35 PM

As far as I know we don't offer internships here, unless it's a new incentive I'm not aware of. There haven't been any design team interns in the couple of years I've been here at least. Like the others said though, you really need to figure out what you actually want to do. That, plus taking on an internship anywhere as a means to find out whether you even want to work in the industry or not isn't ideal, most companies will want to know you have a passion for that position if they are to take you on for any amount of time, internships are not offered as 'tasters'

    Do you have a portfolio?

I'll reserve judgement for now, though I hope that too much control isn't taken away from the player at key moments though (the bit in the trailer where you dive into the elevator before the alien reaches you and then get blown out the airlock looks like part of a cinematic).I would want to feel as much as possible as if I'm there experiencing it all, rather than just walking and running in between bookend cutscenes.

It's quite refreshing to see that a larger studio is allowed to take on material that is essentially the stuff of indie titles and develop what looks like a more intimate game, without publishers shouting at them for more shooting and explosions.

What's so bad about it? It knows it is a B movie and doesn't try to be anything more than that. That's why I enjoy it personally Bad guys turn up, riddick kills bad guys. The end.

Normally I can enjoy B movies as well, maybe it's just because I think the Riddick series had more potential than they made use of.

The first 45 mins of this could have just been cut completely, was basically just riddick alone on an alien planet, wrestling with terrible CGI creatures, doing pointless flips in the air to look cool, standing on high rocks naked for no reason and raising an alien dog that he's able to hold a conversation with (wtf was that all about?).

When the mercs arrived it did at least become watchable but the script was pretty awful and some of the acting was kinda dodgy. Also the special effects seemed to get worse, pitch black was a low budget movie but manged to cover it up well, they didn't seem to try here.

Overall the first half was crap and the second half was essentially a remake of pitch black that didn't need to be made. I did however watch it to the end, so that's saying something. I think i just wanted to see how bad it got though.

Pitch black was awesome yeah, this is not. I guess inconsistency is to be expected from someone who has both The Fugitive and Waterworld in his back catalogue though. Think this series needs leaving behind now, they should have just left it after Pitch Black. I'd play more Riddick games though, they're decent
