I'm only 2 or 3 hours in, so I haven't reached this supposed point where everyone realises the game is too long, but I doubt it will take away from my view of the overall experience in the end. To say it's the best Alien game ever made isn't much of a compliment in fairness, but it is. I liked the films but am not a huge fan, though can see the dedication to the creation of the world and the atmosphere throughout this game, I can imagine it's like porn for fans. For years people have been saying that the way to create a decent Alien game is not to focus on the shooting aspect but to focus on the hunting and survival, as that's what makes it scary. I'm glad CA got the chance to implement this vision and am also surprised (in a good way) that it was a concept a publisher was willing to back as a mainstream, non-indie title.

It could do with a little more polish - the transitions from scripted movement to player-controlled can be a bit jarring, I didn't find the re-wire tutorial very useful (what are you actually supposed to do with the first one where you can activate the speaker system or an 'unstable system'?), whenever I get spotted by humans I just run away and they seem to forget I was ever there, and when you see the alien walking around on its hind legs it still looks a bit naff and less scary (though that's a fundamental problem with the creature design and its obviously better animated than in Colonial Marines). Overall though really enjoying it so far, the atmosphere has been nailed and it's definitely the most tense game I've played for a long time. Games don't normally scare me or provoke much reaction from me but the first time the Alien suddenly dropped down in front of me and ate my face I had such a violent reaction that the battery pad flipped out of my 360 controller.

Thank god I'm not alone. This show deserves more recognistion and yes, sometimes it's a bit over the top but nothing that bothers me.

I've mentioned Hannibal on here before There are a few people watching it, brilliant show.

Finished The Vanishing of Ethan Carter yesterday (couldn't find any thread on this game?).

    Goddamn does it look nice...!

The mood and the ambiance are spot on and the graphics in general are among the best I've seen for this setting.

Not 100% sold on the gameplay (mostly how it's linked to the story) but there are definitely some great and surprising moments that I'll remember for a long time.

It's out? I've been following this for a while but had no idea, there's no reviews or anything around to remind me it seems. Will pick it up!

I can't tell from the reviews what kind of game this actually is, they tend to leave out the basics. Does anyone know how RPG this actually is? Or is it more hack and slash?

I read a while ago that there could be two other leads alongside Farrell and Vaughn (back when those two were still unconfirmed rumours), and names like Taylor Kitsch and Rachel McAdams have been mentioned as the other two possibilities, interested to see if that's the case still

I watched Transformers Age of Extinction too, a really stupid movie, and surprisingly boring for one with so much action in it

The one thing that stands out is probably that inside it doesn't come across as a zoo environment particularly. I realise you're not going to be adding in actual animals, so fundamentally a zoo was a tricky area to try to create, however the addition of signs and posters dotted around inside, with descriptions of the animals you could potentially see would help. The interior is much cleaner than any zoo I've ever seen, which I know has been mentioned previously. If you want to sell it as a newly built zoo to compensate then fair enough, but the majority of people who play this won't know that (unless you have signs outside claiming that it's 'Opening soon' or similar). I would consider adding the signage, both inside and out, this kind of stuff:

    [Blocked Image: http://www.travelingape.com/gallery/australia/sunshine-coast/australia-zoo/australia-zoo-signboard-02.jpg]

...and then dress some animal enclosures, even if there's nothing in them. Most of the zoo's I've been to have enclosures with quite a lot of foliage inside, and most of the time you don't see the animals as they're hiding somewhere, so it can still seem realistic

Yeah I guess I'm just gonna take my time and make it right and learn how to built it right the first time

Super annoying, but well, all in all the bsp tools are a lot better than before!

Edit: I have the latest version and keep on getting very weird crashes, all when navigating camera and working with bsps. It's probably just me though, it usually is.

Edit 2: SRSLY WTF! I'm just getting random crashes doing nothing special, like changing the length of steps in a stair etc. I have no clue of what's going on.

This has been happening to me too, since I started using the editor a few months ago. Mostly when working with BSP it crashes very frequently. Hopefully they get on it soon

Mine's ok, though it said yesterday to update 4.4.1 so I did. Maybe the server issues are just today. I am having trouble with editor crashes though, seems to be about every 5 minutes when carrying out simple BSP operations, annoying

You mean the first season? I think people got too used to the formula, and definitely the show hit a slump after the novelty... the daughter becomes so much of an annoying crybaby at some point you want her to die.

Last season was very good imo, looking forward to them closing this modern love story in the next.

The final season already aired, I actually found it a little too sentimental, wasn't what I expected from Hank Moody. I agree about the daughter, but there were some good seasons where they chose to focus on Hank and Runkle and they were pretty funny.

In my experience so far I've updated two editor versions and transferred my project between both. The only issue so far has been that a blueprint door with a timeline in it now throws up errors on load, which I can't find reference to online. The door works fine though, so I'm not sure if it's a massive issue. I tried re-making the timeline but the error persists. Annoyingly also you have to re-download any tutorial projects every time you upgrade, as they all change to work with the newest version, and some of these are 2-3gb.

All else seems ok, though my project isn't that complex yet. I'd say give it a go and buy a month's subscription, cancelling it straight away. It's pretty cheap and a month should include at least two different editor versions.

you can convert these the same way you convert your own projects, or just keep the engine version you downloaded them with

Good to know, where is the conversion option though? As I think my mate who I'm working with has been doing the converting manually. Opening the launcher I can see, for example 'Shooter Game' says it's compatible with 4.3 (which I still have installed), but there doesn't seem to be an option there to convert to 4.4
