SCRATCH THAT EFFING DIABLO NOTEBOOKS
Er... how the hell? Could you gimme the rundown on that ghost thingy while you're in there?
I fired up windows magnifier and gather these findings:
The Hel rune in the upper right has some sort of.... bomb like thing near it, and what seems to be the number ten.
The Protoss rune below it seems to have a little skull by it.
The spike looking thing by the eyes is some sort of undead person.
They're winking at us. Damned thing's called ice5andahalf.
I'm pretty rusty on that piece of Blizzard lore so I'd have to bother you to enlighten me.
Don't lose faith, comrades.
Here's some food for thought.
Recently (a few weeks ago, maybe a month) PC Gamer said they had an exclusive preview in an upcoming issue. Some thought it would be Diablo 3. Blizzard quickly confirmed that it was not. They could have said nothing and let the fans find out on their own, but instead they answered the question before hopes got too high.
In this case, fans have been guessing and speculating about Diablo 3 for the better part of a week, and Blizzard hasn't confirmed anything. It'd be a PR disaster if it WEREN'T Diablo 3. They're not cruel, disconnected suits. They know their fans, they know some will scour for meaning in every pixel of these images. They're not going to stir their fans' hopes and excitement for a week just to crush it later.
I sense a Red Dead Revolver reference in these shots with the rifle on the back and the dog. If it's just me I'll shut up.
Apparently they've never done this sort of thing for an expansion before, and everyone already knows about wrath of the lich king anyway. All this teasing would be pointless. You can dance on my shattered dreams all you want, I say its' Diablo 3.
It ain't StarCraft. They've already announced it, there'd be no point in a teaser. And look closely at that splash image. The vapor around the eyes is a dead ringer for the hood on the Diablo 2 box.
No chance. They're already working bringing WoW to consoles with Molten Core. ![]()
Also, James, WUW 4 ammie? Free?
Pfft. Council and keyfinding forever noob. ![]()
You may be right. I'm just drawing from my memory of visiting Blizzard's site and noticing the job listings off to the side.
I could swear it said something like "team 3 is hiring level designers for next-gen mmo."
I'd love to be wrong.
EDIT: Also, this comparison shot of the current Blizzard splash image (with eyes now. Yikes.) and Diablo 2's boxart. Makes me feel warm and gooey.

Quote from ErraticSlogging around with a few hundred other players (with shitty latency)
Haha, do you REMEMBER Diablo 2's BNET? It's a bigger disaster now than ever before.
Perhaps not a few hundred players, but oh man. You and seven other people in a cow game... or doing a Baal run. It was perfect.
It's an unsettling possibilty that I fear too. One of the largest pieces of evidence for Diablo 3 is Blizzard's cryptic "Team 3" job listings, and their project is called a "next-gen mmo."
They'd actually gain business, by attracting some WoW players (there's plenty of them who look at WoW as a surrogate Diablo 3) and we die-hards alike.
But... only if they do the even more unthinkable..... subscription fees.
Diablo 3 speculation has perked up again with Blizzard's splash image teaser. It started with one rune symbol in a mass of ice, and every day they're adding a bit to it. Right now there are 3 runes and the ice is beginning to break.
Fan sites have of course performed the obligatory in-depth analysis of the symbols, yielding some positive evidence. The first one was thought to be from WoW, on the Frostmourne sword to be exact. This may still be, but other sites note that it shares just as many similarites with a Shael rune from Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction. The second one is virtually identical to LOD's Hel rune.
I'm not sure about the third one, someone said it looked like phobos from Starcraft. In that case the image could be showing a rune from every Blizzard series (WoW, Diablo, Starcraft.)
Still, Blizzard's WWI in Paris will run day and date with Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction's release dates. Here's (insurmountably) hoping they finally pull the curtain on it.
A strong foundation to further my searing hatred and loathing toward the Pyro. I may have a stroke come Demoman and Soldier.

So is it confirmed to be in Africa now? I've seen lots of speculation that it was in Jamaica or Haiti.
