I have to agree on that, listening to cassette tapes in a heli isn't really engaging, and as I feared, Big Boss rarely say anything Ol' Jack Bauer did his required lines and called it a day.
How many of the side missions do you do? I feel like im doing too many atm, so afraid of missing some sweet personel to my team or other goodies 
but dont want it to end like Skyrim where I did so many side quests that I eventually grew tired of the game and never finished the main story
Playing with a controller on PC instead of using a keyboard, so that might add to the problem, since you never feel like you have a good grip on your surroundings with a controller
Always shoot with RAW, for characters, shoot inside with a good light setup and a neutral background so you can mask out the object you want, and use a tripod Always bring a macbet chart and create a color profile, color correct your photos in adobe camera raw or similar. Remove vignetting and chromatic abberation, but don't sharpen the images as it adds artifacts and noise and don't correct the lens distortion since agisoft compensates for that during alignment 
My only gripe so far, is when you start sneaking, the camera gets shit and points more towards the ground
