Is that what you used to view them? I'd be incredibly surprised if that worked but the full version of Powerpoint didn't. I don't know about this version, but I know the 2010 viewer won't open XML, only ppt files.

Anyone know how to view these slides? I opened a presentation.xml with Powerpoint '07 and it says it doesn't recognize some of the XML objects and fails.

Meh. Just tuck it back between your legs. It'll break up the monotony.

It's ok. BF3 is getting my money instead. *

Oblivion's worth it, if for nothing else the expansion pack and the mod Nehrim: Edge of Fate, which is like if a professional developer made a Gothic inspired Elder Scrolls spin-off in the $20/30 range.

Yeah you're right. I'll give you Shivering Isles -- that was great. I've heard of Nehrim but never really looked into it. Is it that good?

Finished Lords of Shadow. What an amazing game. I have absolutely no idea how they will top this in a sequel. They threw the kitchen sink into this one. I'm eagerly awaiting the Resurrection DLC.

Due to the pace of the game you blitz through them really quickly, and not just that but the game is also extremely long for a current-gen game.

Agreed. I forced myself to slow down and take in the environments in many places, including Pan's temple and the music box. Baba was downright creepy.

As long as you don't mention SpeedTrees around the graphics programmers you're ok .

Well, since Rockstar does their own PR and marketing they're kind of in a unique position. Often times marketing requests will come down the chain of command, and they'll ask for certain debug functionality to do various things, like toggle things on and off, change time of day and weather, etc. Nothing really outlandish and often times the stuff they ask for debug functionality-wise has already been implemented at some point during development for debugging purposes, so it all works out. But for the cases where it's not already done, we do it. To us, the marketing/PR guys are God. They're amazing at their jobs, they do an incredible job selling the game to the public, and we deeply appreciate that kind of positive exposure. So unless it's impossible to implement or its implementation could have adverse affects on the actual development of the game, we make it happen. If marketing is happy, then they make our game look good, and so we’re happy.

So I'm not sure if this is really pertinent to your question since all the marketing and PR is done in-house.

Should I just list the personal projects I've worked on, more of a functional resume?

Absolutely. Personal projects are valuable to list on a resume. If you take a look at the portfolios of other people on this site you'll see most of them list their personal projects in addition to their industry ones. Just make sure the experience you list on your resume is relevant to games. I doubt potential employers will care that you were the fastest burger flipper in your town.

I voted for #3, but I think it can be even better if you put the thumbnails in a 2x2 square to the right of the banners, and then squish the banners together like you did in #2. If you shrink the banners some, you could even get them all to fit without scrolling. This way you get the quick glance overview 2 provides with the extra taste of media 3 provides.

But I'm a programmer without a portfolio who is easily entertained by shiny things, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
