Thank you very much for your feedback, now that the contest is over I can fix all of these things. I have not had any other negative feedback about there being 2 1-dot signs and 1 2-dot sign but now that I think about it changing that in either direction has also produced negative feedback. I have just uploaded a new version which address these issues and I think makes it more clear. This will be the final version, I have got new better puzzles on the way. The new download link is the same: Click here for download

Oh, and it should be a tiny bit clearer and also that faithplate is fixed!

http://www.assembla.com gives you SVN and also a wiki and some other tools. Not sure how much space you'll need but the only reason I stopped using it was because it went from free to cheap to expensive as our version history got bloated.

You mean Valve Hammer 3.4, which I've uploaded here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3688889/hammer_v34.exe (installer)

    - 3.5 update. Replace the Hammer.exe in 3.4 : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3688889/hammer_testbuild04.zip

    - Zoner Half-Life Tools (compile thingies): http://zhlt.info/download-zhlt.html

    - Updated Half-Life FGD : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3688889/halflife.fgd

To use all the textures and stuff from Half-Life, extract the entire 'valve'-folder in 'half-life.gcf' with GFCscape to your HL directory.

    thanks dude!

can't believe zoner's site is still up....!

Well the front view of the spaceship looks like a ferengi (star trek) ship for sure.

knj I think the spirals look weird because they are thin flat ribbons that spiral many times instead of a broader shape with a few cools, and the spaces end up being thin and deep. compare with these ionic columns:

    Ionic columns:

    [Blocked Image: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5c/Cincinnati-life-insurance-building-detail.jpg/800px-Cincinnati-life-insurance-building-detail.jpg]

    [Blocked Image: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/cb/SixIonicOrders.jpg]

in comparison to real ionic columns yours is more dizzying and broad with deeper channels

You need to make a folder called addons (with an S) in steam/steamapps/common/portal 2/portal 2/ and place it in there. If portal 2 was running while you did this type update_addon_paths into the console before trying to launch the map.

  • US Supreme Court protects games

Awhile back california tried to ban* the sale of 'violent' games to minor (under 18). The supreme court just ruled that this law is unconstitutional as it violates the first amendment right to free speech. The decision was 7-2

    http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/06/27/scotus.video.games/

Specifically they said the law was too broad and that there was a tradition of exposing children to violence (like in fairy tales) and that this law infringed on a parents right to make that choice. Unfortunately that means that a more narrow and speciic law could be written that would not be covered by this precedent.

Of course most retailor still enforce the ESRB ratings on the grounds that they can refuse service to anyone on any non-discriminatory grounds, which means no M rated games for minors at major retailors.

Anyway, just thought you guys would want to know.

*california likes to try and ban everything

    Thats pretty awesome dude!

I like the curvey asymmetric parts.

I think that the fog is too intense. What is it anyway? Space structures should have an oxygen/nitrogen atmosphere unless its for aliens.

In the places where you have the arches set at 90deg to each other it kind of looks like a face, you should put a bolt there for the nose

Also you might want a few more blue accents, and I think the blue could be more striking/electric.

Big update over the past week, added my map wavelet to the top, added video flythroughs for the tf2 maps, added overview image for desolation, cleaned up the on-site resume/cv, cleaned up alot of the code so it is simpler and uses SSI for common page elements, changed the header up so that the words in the banner are now the links to different pages, implemented highslide, implemented google analytics, implemented a 3rd party file tracking script for analytics.

But the core site design has not changed.

Go ahead and click on things and download the map files so I can see if the download tracking script is working right

Also one of my hard drives died ( ) which means that tf2 is now working ( ) so I can get back to working on frostline..expect to see her get posted soon.

I get the impression that this game is getting bad reviews simply because it doesn't have a stamina meter and it does have a health meter.

I will try it after all!

Origin was fairly painless, perhaps 1 - 2 too many steps but vastly better than some other download platforms out there, and it seems perfectly stable.

For me games are about immersion in the story and the world. The critics seem to be upset that the game mechanics are basic tried and true platformer fair and that the level design is very linear. This is true. However, what they fail to realize is that the immersion DOES! make up for any failing.

I disagree about the controls, at first I really liked them, but the shooting is a little absurd. By default they want you to hold down caps lock while pressing tab to use the focus, is that even possible? I tried changing the button and now it sometimes doesn't work. And I don't know what you mean about the crosshair getting locked twiz...it floats! Plus you have to right click to shoot, which kind of makes sense since you have 2 weapons, but is very unorthodox that left clicking switches you back to knife it's sometimes confusing!

All in all I'm loving it, played until it locked up my computer and I'm going back for more. Probably will be one of the few games I finish.
