Well I finished The Ball yesterday and I am quite impressed. The cutscenes were I thought a little bland but the gameplay was superb. Congrats on the release!

Well I was going to say something about the door not being on a landing, but then I looked at the drawing by imperial boy, which is damn amazing, and saw the the piece you had modeled.
Looks accurate to the concept, you could stand to add more details. You should change the angle of the joint between the pieces of lower stair trim so that the angled trim has the same width as the horizontal trim.
You've got a looong way ahead of you. I'm really looking forward to seeing the progress on this. Do you plan on making it fully immersive or only from the original artworks angle. I think you should flesh out as much of the hidden space as possible and bring it in game

Well the deadline has come and gone but I'd still like to show this and I'd love some good feedback.

Looks quite nice, you should clean up the windows and make them scratch free I think seeing as how everything else is so well maintained.

Doctor, it's....it's....it's ALIVE!
So about a year and a half ago I released the first beta of Desolation as an arena map. I then took a break from it to work on other things, and then a break from mapping altogether, then I went clinically insane for awhile. During this time my hard drives died (never use raid 0) and I thought that it, along with a dozen other maps I was working on, were gone forever. Then, I remembered my old friend vmex
Now, all this time later, I have brought Desolation BACK FROM THE DEAD (insert TF2 ghost here). Desolation is a small desert map focusing on multi-tiered terrain and vertical gameplay with complex routing. The map bounds may be small, but there's a lot of playing area/walkable surfaces packed in there.August 25th - Beta Two and a half Release!
Well, I was hoping for a reaction...
I still think the Color Correction looks really cool and it's so much fun to mess with but I can't ignore the overwhelming reaction, apparently I've made a few people sick, so at least I know it was moving. I think though I knew in my heart it wasn't appropriate for TF2. Maybe I'll do something more subtle for beta 3.
Anyway, I've removed the color correction and updated the map text and menu photos. Please re download

Again, there is a server bz2 zip archive as well. Oh, and I've seen a bunch of servers running the beta 1 version, please update your server if you see this!

I think Uncharted has the potential to become a long lasting and commanding series of games akin to Half-Life. I found the first one so damn enjoyable, the game was fun, the story was fun, the characters were fun and it looks like their improving on the weaknesses. Ya, really looking forward to this one.

oh i loved skeeball in tfc, and it looks quite nice too!

I'm definitely willing to learn enough of a language to work with something that's already pretty robust, I just don't have time to devote to truly learn a language...it's not my focus. That said I've used QB then VB then C++ in the past so I have a basic knowledge in place I suppose. I can do it! But ya, iPhone (or other portable device) is looong term goal and I just want the path I start down to teach me skills that are very transferable. But in the end I just want to screw around in 2D and make something that makes me giggle

After a quick glance at what everyone's mentioned multimedia looks good, but processing and allegro look FREEEE!!! And I have no problem learning a bit of C, or even a lot of C. It's just programming is not my focus. Alot of toolkits speak of things such as 'C-like scripting' or 'minimal programming required' and that's what I want.
Time to start downloading stuff. Thanks guys

p.s. e-freak a 2-D game is a game that runs on a 2-D engine silly! But ya my ideas are mostly in the realm of simple-simple platformer and puzzle games.

So here I am a humble Hammer mapper and XSI modeler and I want to make a 2D game all by my lonesome but I'm not a programmer and I have no clue where to start! Anyone of you guys done this kinda thing?
Oh and I eventually want to get something on the iPhone. Of course I don't actually own an iPhone...or a mac.... Oh well, those are small problems.
Anyway anyone here have any suggestions for where to start? I'm thinking I should probably grab an indie licence for an engine like Torque (TGB...though I here that's a buggy pile of crap too) or Unity (there's a 2D plugin for it). Of course they aren't free but is anything these days (except the best things of course)? Any other options? Any other routes? Learn C++ and write it from scratch you say? Please no

Stop being a fool and make a Flash game? Came with CS3 but that seems a little not at all what I want to do at all.
Finish my TF2 map? NEVER!
Anyway thanks for any advice.

WHHOOOOOO!!!!
Grew up playing monkey island when I was like 3

Egypt for the win, that map is so awesome and so underrepresented in the server list.
But shit, heyo's gettin all kinds of maps into offcialdom. me smells a future valve employee
-
I just found this really cool thing, a program that let's you play simple games (maze, mine sweeper, pool, etc.) where the playing field is a 2D immersion (or dissection?) of a mobius strip or klein bottle (you can switch between the two).
If that didn't make sense, good.

It's odd numbered
